Some friends came over a few days ago and had their nephew with them whom is probably around six or seven. This was a few days after Christmas, I had finished the Lego Guardians of the Galaxy Milano set that my G/f had gotten me which was sitting on the coffee table, she also got me a friggin PS4 which was pretty sweet =).
We ended up playing SuperMario 3 on his request which was surprising to say the least. By the third world he started getting a little upset that I was good at the game, and his aunt says "Hon, he has played this game a million times he has had a lot more practice".
He then looked at me and says,
"Its weird, you are a lot like I am, we both like Lego's and video games but your an adult."
My reply as I continued playing, "I am only cleverly disguised as an adult".
The look on his face was hysterical he had no idea such a thing was possible. My g/f also tells her nieces and nephews that she doesn't have to pick an ice cream flavor, she can have them all because she is a grown up.
I am 35.
Sure bills and work are dumb, that's a mantra around here "Work is dumb" But I like that I can buy what I want and do what I want. I worked moderately hard in school, I am polite as fuck, and not being a dumbass helps too so I landed a good job.
When my factory closes in 8 months or so and depending on if I can find another job that pays as well I will probably have to cut back on my spending on fun but that is just knowing your limits, and part of being an adult. Adulthood is simply being responsible for yourself, and if you procreate, your family. You can still have fun while being an adult, even if times get tough, I can still just go for a bike ride.
When you stop playing, when you stop enjoying the simple things in life is when you actually start to grow old and die.
