Photorealism is the end. Time to stop focusing on advancing graphics anymore and start using what you got to make fun games to use them
I find photo realism can be depressing too. Remember how colourful something like Sonic was?
Look at those blues and greens! They're fantastically bright, they make me feel happy inside!

That is some GREY stuff. I feel sad again.
Now that I think about it this is probably why I loved games like Super Monkey Ball so much. Besides being stupidly ludicrous and fun, they were so damn colourful!
