THE INFAMOUS

Farsight XR-20!!!!
Oh god, how did I forget that one? Man, I was on the reciving end way too many times.

Then I met the one guy who absolutely failed with 'em.
Even with it's tracker on, he never hit me. Not once. He'd have the shot lined up...and miss.

Then: HOLY SHIT!!! HOLY SHIT!! IT'S IN 3D!!! (Going from SNES to N64)
Now: Meh...So what I can see every hair on his head...that is so last year.

GoldenEye 007!

Four-player action was a blast, many late nights! Rocket Launchers in the Facility!

I agree, I have no idea what it is. Maybe we were just younger? maybe it was just that 3D games (that didn't look like ass) were pretty new? I have no idea. Games back then seemed to take a ton of crazy risks and put in just zany ass weapons (perfect dark as a perfect example hahahaha). Also games like blast corps, just the idea is so bizarre yet so fun. A studio now a days wouldn't want to take such a risk.

Also, EVERYTHING now a days seems to be a damn remake of games from the PS1/N64 era, so all the new and good ideas just don't happen as much it seems. We really don't see many new IPs and when they ARE they are pretty much just ripoffs of existing stuff anyways (bioshock).

I'd give a lot to be enchanted by gaming like I was back then!

I was pretty crappy with it when I started trying it out, but I soon became rather detested by my friends and was banned from using it. I still love the laptop guns too, i don't know what it was, i just thought they were so cool at the time.

This.

Rarely ever had as much fun with a video game as I did with this one. 4 player splitscreen was 'teh shit' .
hell man, it still is. my friends and i have goldeneye matches all the time, last all damn night and into the morning too.

but i have to say perfect dark for a few reasons. for starters the laptop gun (more games need a laptop gun), great levels and missions (like rescuing an alien from area 51 and then flying through the halls on a hoverbike like a bat out of hell), good difficulty, counter-op and its the only game we (my friends and i) spend more time and booze on than goldeneye.

This is a good point.

That going from near photorealistic to actual photorealistic is a technical marvel. But to the gamers themselves, this advance is not as big of a leap compared to going from 2-D to 3-D

Photorealism is the end. Time to stop focusing on advancing graphics anymore and start using what you got to make fun games to use them

I find photo realism can be depressing too. Remember how colourful something like Sonic was?

Look at those blues and greens! They're fantastically bright, they make me feel happy inside!

Lets look at gears of war:

That is some GREY stuff. I feel sad again.

Now that I think about it this is probably why I loved games like Super Monkey Ball so much. Besides being stupidly ludicrous and fun, they were so damn colourful!

Incoming s***storm but I thought that Majora's Mask was 100 times better than Ocarina of Time
Let us bond together and cast down the ignorant.

Majora's Mask was far superior, in every facet of gameplay. OoT deserves the love it gets, but only because it was the first 3D Zelda game (to my knowledge). The gameplay, story, and graphics were inferior to Majora's Mask.

exactly...games need to be more colourful... look at all these current gen games... distopia brown, gum metal grey... all though the new banjo kazooie game seems to be a refreshing change

Perfect Dark or Golden Eye.
Ah so many lost days playing those two.
They really defined my gaming in my youth
