Original Red baby, but I'm really liking Black version. The other ones added things that I liked, but I never beat them because I always got turned off from all the new Pokémon. With Black, it's all new Pokémon, so I'm on the same level as everyone else, so this one is awesome because it has all the improvements and a sort of clean start.

I would say either the G/S/C gen or B/W.

Silver and Crystal hold special places for me, seeing as how they were my first Pokemon games (Silver was my first game EVER). On top of that, day and night, the time capsule, the red gyarados, two ful regions, it was just a HUMONGOUS package. (tee-hee)

On the other hand, I think Black and White have the best main story so far. The characters are better, the villains are realistic while still being a threat, and I liked the story overall. It can get a bit heavy-handed at times (like when Bell/Bianca's dad shows up in Nibasa... UGH, that was just painful...) but it's overall a great game.

So yeah, either Gold/Silver/Crystal/Heartgold/Soulsilver or Black/White

I've played Yellow, the original Gold and Silver, and I just recently got back into the series with White.

I enjoyed Gold/Silver back in the day, but I'm absolutely loving White. Haven't enjoyed a game this much in a while. (I should stop buying FPS's) White gets my vote.

I like silver/gold/silver probably because of the pokemon and I know I spent 100+ hours playing just those alone, and I liked the towns too, especially Azure Town, that place is really cool.

I do like black/white, I'm just impressed with what they did with that game, although I think they tried too hard on the trying to capture the feeling and experience from the first generation. It's still good though.

For me it would be Red the Original which i had much later , I loved my big team destroying every creature .

Although Sapphire would be close behind my first Poke game ,It was so much fun but i was very dissapointed when i couldn't win over the entire Elite 4 With my Blaziken and had to level the rest of my weakly squad.

Game wise, White is proving to be the most awesome and story based engaging. If I had one complaint it's that pokémon don't follow you around anymore, like in yellow/HGSS.
Agreed with everything you just said. All the minor/subtle improvements they made add up to become the best in the series for me. White is also the first game in the series I didn't pick the fire starter (sorry Samurai Sealion > Wrestlin' pig.)To bad he can't follow you around.

Red version. Because the designs didn't really seem meant for kids, they looked like legit monsters. Back in those days the side games were great too, like pokemon snap and pokemon the trading card game. Now theres this ranger crap.
Ruby is my 2nd fav because of slaking alone, but im really starting to like White version

My vote goes to Ruby. I always liked Howen the best, and Groundon cannot be beat.

Soul Silver for me, it's the best i've played and i clocked about 440 on it.

Although i transferred all my SS Pokemon to Black, which is awesome don't get me wrong, it's just the bag menu is a bit blargh and the box menu's can get confusing at times.

But having said that, the GTS has been greatly improved there are many training spots to help your lower level Pokemon, also it seems you get ALOT more experience this time round so it means less grinding, also getting the Lucky Egg early helps a ton!

Pokemon Gold/Silver for a good few reasons.

I really have to say that since Gold/Silver, I have felt that the series has went downhill; -SNIP-
I agree with you wholeheartedly. I loved Crystal on the Gameboy Color and spent a good 3 years of my life on it, but the later games were really lackluster in my opinion. I'm especially frustrated with Heart Gold/Soul Silver and Black/White, and have avoided them like the plague.

Either Gold/Silver or LeafGreen/FireRed improved on nearly everything that Red/Blue/Yellow had. Everything that came after is garbage dump to milk the franchise.

For the sake of at least giving it a try, I recently bought Pokemon Black, and between the groan-worthy translations (I HOPE it's the translations, and that someone wasn't actually paid to write this stuff...) the fifth group of people using the identical ape trio of Panpour/Pansear/Pansage, and some just plain stupid gameplay decisions, I kind of want to die.

The franchise has become so overly-nurturing to its kiddie base that it's just sucked a lot of the appeal out of it for me. For example, in the first gym, the theme is actually to pit you against one of three gym leaders which is decided based on the starter you chose at the beginning. You know what? Not bad. I can roll with it. That actually sounds interesting.

But then before you can fight him, you're told to go to a side-area first for some arbitrary reason. Whatever, can't be that bad, right?

And then- I seriously wish I was kidding- He GIVES you a level 10 Pokemon which cinches beyond any shadow of a doubt that you'll win the first time you fight your gym leader if you use it.

What.

Look, I get it, Nintendo, you want to keep things accessible to kids and Pokemon was never intended for an adult audience anyway, but taking the difficulty out of Pokemon does NOT increase its appeal to anyone. We didn't spent hours leveling up Pokemon to take on the Elite Four when we were twelve because it was easy, we did it because we LIKED THE CHALLENGE.

I'm not even complaining about the Pokemon designs anymore, because stupid as they've become they could eventually be forgiven, but when a game becomes boring, it's not worth playing.

To be honest, I love Black/White.
I've had to shake off my nostalgia-goggles, but the monochrome generation is amazingly well put together, looks great, and is just generally awesome.
