Best PS2 RPGs

The only game I can think of that hasn't been mentioned is Tales of the Abyss. It's my favorite entry in the Tales series. I enjoyed Tales of Legendia too, but I hesitate to recommend it due to some flaws it has.

I also recommend all of the Shin Megami Tensei games.

Dark Cloud and Dark Chronicle (Dark Cloud 2 in some regions). those are the best. plenty of gameplay elements and fantastic stories. in my opinion anyway

Champions of Norrath is basically an Everquest-themed Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance with online multiplayer added.

uh...shadow hearts was good, especially covenant i know the ark the lad series (the good ones anyway) were on PS1, but the PS2 is backwards compatible.

Woah awesome, how does it work in the GU series? My only gripe is the awkward and mandatory camera control

in the G.U. series fights take place in a circle arena-like place and you see the fights from a high angle and it'll follow the main character around unless you move it with an analog stick, same goes for when you're walking around, though it'll follow you're back in noncombat things.

also: no more pausing and sifting through menues to use abilitys and spells.

Also, Steambot Chronicles! You really should try this one. It's a quirky little game with something for everyone. Freely customizable steam-powered battle robots are the main attraction, and if that's not enough, there's everything from dungeon crawling and prize fighting to musical minigames and romantic subplots to get immersed in. Or, you can just screw it all and JOIN THE BAD GUYS! Seriously.

Wait, Steambot is an RPG? I always avoided it because I thought it was a side-scrolling shooter, and I have enough of those on my (S)NES. Damn you misleading Boxart!

Lol good to know! I got .Hack at Gamestop for like $12, and I ordered Persona 3 brand new off Amazon for $30-$35 I think
