Old Black Isle Studios for Fallout 1 and 2 and Planescape: Torment.
From still breathing ones, BioWare. Rest doesnt even make things i could consider RPGs as a long time pen and paper player.

I nominate Nintendo for the pokemon franchise (In my opinion, it's the best we've seen of class customization), and the Mario RPGs (for, well, not being afraid of sillyness. Also, blending action and turn-based combats is awesome)

Edit: Which, of course, isn't to say the companies that are more well-known for their RPGs aren't up their on my list. Square, Bethesda, and Bioware have made some of my favorite games: specifically Chrono Trigger, Morrowind, and KotOR.

A couple of years ago, I would have said SquareEnix. SquareSoft was their true form, but Enix corrupted them greatly. Honestly, who the FUCK made THAT merging happen? BURN MAIM KILL! BURN MAIM KILL! BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE!

BioWare is my new hero. They're sooooooooooooooooo good.

Squarenix, just a ton of games under their belts you can't fault some for being not up to par with what they used to be. They've been around since the early 80s. Dragon Warrior/Quest series is solid, Final Fantasy used to be (for me it started to suck at X, showing signs at VIII but I consider Tactics to be the true VIII to be honest), but then you've also got Kingdom Hearts, Star Ocean, Super Mario RPG on the SNES, undoubtedly some others too.

Really, I always thought of Enix as the better-half in that merger. I mean, come on... Dragon Quest!
Meh. I never really liked Dragon Quest, even though I have a few of their games. Stopped at 8. Even though their soundtracks and art from Akira Toriyama was always a pretty thing to witness.

But, SquareSoft has Chrono Trigger/Cross, Secret of Mana, most of Final Fantasy, the original Kingdom Hearts and many more.

It's really hard to pick one. If I could only choose one, I'd have to say Mistwalker, since they're pretty much the guys that made Chrono Trigger. Other honorable mentions would have to be Square, SquareSoft, Monolith Soft, and Working Designs

The only RPG's I've really played have been Final Fantasy and the Mario RPG series. So for me the answer is Square Enix.

I can't decide between Square Enix and Bethesda (Sorry Bioware I love your games, I just loves theirs more) I guess it depends on my mood, but I can't split a hair between Kingdom Hearts and Oblivion.

This topic is funny, because it gets posted once every month, and each time, 60% vote BioWare, 25% vote Bethesda, 10% vote SqEnix, and the remaining 5% varies (not actual figures).

OT: BioWare.
