Call of Duty 4, also, Super Smash Bros. Melee. Brawl was better I think, but the leap that Melee made from the original was much bigger than the leap made from Melee to Brawl.

So many good sequels named here, but I'm going to have to say Streets of Rage 2. The original was fantastic, but when you look at the difference between the first and second it is like night and day. Utterly awesome.

Honourable mention to Gears Of War 2.

Double Dragon II and Street Fighter II

Had to hop in the way-back machine to pull out those gems, seeing as how everyone is picking games from the last 3 years...

Saints Row 2..Co-op all the way through..not just missions and side missions, but activities as well..

I was going to say Vegas 2 but they screwed that one up because they pandered to the adversarial multiplayer market in regards to maps and re-spawns..

GRAW 2 was really good.

Im surprised no one has mentioned God of War 2...
This. This is the only hack n' slash game which is easy to get into, and a little challenging to master (no needless one-two non-stop button presses) and the only hack n' slash which gets better in every sequel.

Fallout 3, KotOR II, and Call of Duty 4.
Yes to Fallout 3 and CoD 4 but KoToR 2? That was one of the worst sequels I've ever played.

Also Half Life 2 and Medieval 2

Half Life 2, God of War 2, Rock Band 2, Thief 2. Those are the games that most spring to mind.
