1 vs. 1 Halo 3 custom game with a custom gamemode where the players start with Energy Swords and Gravity Hammers, there's low gravity, both players have really high health, regenerating Grenades and run really fast.
The moment involves me being chased while I'm on a Mongoose (or was it a Warthog?) and the other player was trying to hit me around with a Gravity Hammer and shooting Brute-shot rounds at me, many awesome explosions and jumps ensued.

One time in Bioshock, I was fooling around with the "Hypnotize Big Daddy" Plasmid. I hypnotized one, then saw another Big Daddy walking around with a Little Sister. After hitting the enemy Big Daddy with a pistol shot once, my Big Daddy took over. For the next three minutes, me and the Little Sister sat there watching our Big Daddies slap each other with their drill hands (they were Bouncers). It was the best thing ever. My Daddy won.

EDIT: By the way, curse you, OP. I was gonna make a thread just like this one. I would have, but I have no idea how.

Not exactly the topic but once while playing Halo 3 with some friends, one of the guys on the opposing team was driving a Scorpion and really handing it to us while we were all struggling to find a weapon to deal with him, at which point I said "that armor's too strong for blasters." Yep.

My best two are as follows, TWO L.A. Noire I pick up a lemon in a kitchen and the character thinks to himself "Maybe if... no, never mind"
NUMBER ONE Fallout new Vegas, just after I recruit all companions I return to the lucky 38 and I find Boone and Veronica in the main bed with everybody else just staring at them

I was doing one of the many car chase missions in Grand Theft Auto 4. I was driving at top speed when I must have hit some sort of bump with the tires on the right side of the car. Whatever it was caused the car to basically do a barrel roll and land perfectly back on all four tires without losing any speed. I almost couldn't believe I had just seen it.

Red dead redemption, one day i was walking alone in the wild, and this motherfucking cougar comes at me out of nowhere, and knocks me down with one hit. I can ever so slightly turn the camera to see it coming back to finish me off. Only inches away from me face, it's falls down dead. I turn to see a fellow cowboy on his horse with his rifle out. We both had mics, but neither of us said anything. I stood there, dumbfounded, as he rode off into the sunset.

In Oblivion. I didn't realize you could turn into a vampire. So a vampire gives me...vampire disease (?), and I didn't know I have it. Then I start getting popups of nightmares when I sleep, until finally I become a vampire. Next thing I know, I'm hiding from the sun, feeding off of homeless people in the alleys behind houses during the night so that I can look human enough to buy some equipment, and just generally kicking a LOT of ass in fights. But using shops was becoming obnoxious. I usually ended up dying in the sun while attempting to use the Wait option because I just could not figure out what time the sun was supposed to be coming up or going down (I thought 6pm seemed reasonable, guess not?). So I decide I should become human again. That starts this epic quest to hunt down the head vampire guy, and kill him.

It played out as this totally amazing adventure in my head, and it was honestly the only time I ever felt submerged in the "story" of the game, except that it wasn't the game's story. So I don't know if that's classified as "awesome" or "fail" on their part.
Similar thing happened to me, thought it wouldn't be a problem, but after a few hours of trying to do the main quest online at night so I didn't get hurt, it became to much
I like grabbing some of those "Blade" mods. So I can wear me some sunscreen and vampire it up anytime I want.

In Crysis (1), I was playing at a friends house for a bit one day since my PC couldn't run it at the time. I was driving a giant truck across part of the island at top speed to get to the next enemy town, but I couldn't steer it very well because of its size and the speed I was travelling. I turned around a blind corner and slid into a gas station, where I promply exploded and died. My friend and I laughed it off, and I reloaded the game. Little did I know, there was a save point seconds before impact...

As the game restarts, I'm flying at the gas station again, unable to turn fast enough to avoid it. I reacted quickly enough to jump out of the truck though, and used the super speed run to get to a nearby wall. The gas station exploded not a second later, and the entire town of enemies was now allerted to my presence. A giant piece of concrete from the gas station flies directly at me, but instead of killing me, it saved my life.

The wall was to my left, and the concrete was leaning up against it, creating a triangle shape... with myself crouching in the middle underneath. The explosion created cover for me, and I killed the entire towns worth of soldiers because they could only attack me from one direction - the front. It was the greatest moment in gaming history ever, and it was a completely random experience.

Oblivion, I will set the scene. My Orc character was causally walking through the Imperial City when I was attacked by those Mythic Dawn assassins. That part is obliviously scripted. What happened next is the best thing. Two guards attack the assassin with broadswords and begin killing him. After a few swings the assassin is dead but one guard swiped his sword one more time and hit the other guard. For some odd reason the guard must have thought the other guard was attacking him so he fought back. Soon enough it turned into a street brawl were over 12 guards were fighting each other, 6 on each side. After about 10 minutes of fighting on side eventually won with one guard left alive. The best thing was that after the fight the one guard left looks around and says "Theres been a murder here". Never laughed so hard.
And due to this, I forgive the broken and immersion-breaking AI in the game. That's just too funny!

OT, I had a Bad Company 2 match where both teams just played a really good, really intense Rush on Oasis match. People supported each other, vehicles were used effectively (and destroyed effectively, and even though my team lost, everyone agreed that it was just a damn fine match. I will probably never have one that good again.

saints row 2, My friend and I decide to start fighting in WW2 fighters. We then then ram each other. He gets blown up and killed, but I get windshield cannoned out and my plane survives. I then land and because I had no fall damage, brush myself down, revive him, then go for round 2 in the same plane. Sadly, I lost the second time, but I was laughing for hours. Insurance fraud was also a good way to ensure a good laugh.

Off the top of my head, any situation involving soldiers and grappling hooks in Just Cause 2.

[sub]Though I'm sure at some point I'll remember something even more awesome...[/sub]

Another Oblivion Story:

There is a dark brotherhood quest in which you are ordered to "purge" the building in which you first receive quests, killing your fellow assassins in order to prevent an influx of spies. The quest can actually be quite difficult, as many of the assassins are fairly strong.

Thankfully, I did not have to kill anyone because, after removing all the food from the entire hideout and filling the cupboard with a single poison apple, the assassins actually began killing each other for the only food left in the building. It was probably the most impressive thing I have ever seen a game's AI do on its own accord.

The funniest thing? The lone survivor, a khajiit mage, ate the poisoned apple and died a quick death delayed only by frantic health restoration spells.

Yeah, they can be stupid at times but they have their moments.

I broke my right thumb morning I first played Modern Warfare. Playing with a cast was interesting in and of itself. What's better is after that, I tried tanking a dungeon in WoW on Vicadin and beer. Needless to say, we wiped several times because my computer kept sliding away from me (but really I was just sliding out of my chair).

LOL this is the greatest one i've heard so far! Coupled with the facial expressions being awful in Oblivion this just sounds hilarious to watch :D did the guard just walk off or continue to stand the oblivious (WHEEYYY!) to what just happened?

First time playing Morrowind. I'm wandering around on top of a mountain for the first time when it starts to rain, and then (I'm wearing headphones) the thunder hits and I jump (in real life) out of my chair! Then I get swooped by a shrieking Cliff Racer and I'm so shaken by the thunder that I actually duck my head (in real life) and charge off the clifftop (in the game). My avatar is now falling to his death when I recall that I've got a Ring of Featherfall, so I cast it, float to the ground and walk away unscathed (in game) but shaken and wiser (in real life).

One time in TF2 I randomly tossed a jar of Jarate over a wall for the hell of it.

Bam. Got three achievements:

Rode Hard, Put Away Wet (Jarate an enemy you're dominating)
Saturation Bombing (Jarate 4 enemy players in a single throw)
Rain on Their Parade (Jarate an enemy and the Medic healing them)

Fun with explosive pinball in Smash Brothers Melee or Brawl. It usually goes something like: get hit with an exploding capsule, fly into a walking bobomb, get blown into a mine, then finally go off the screen.

Also, 90% of the time when my roommate and I play stock matches, it comes down to both of us with one stock left in sudden death.

Zelda: Twilight Princess, fighting Stalfos and Redead. Incredibly irritating enemies in melee combat, which is why I just nail them with bomb arrows instead. Dramatic build up when they raise up from the ground ended by an explosive to the face.
