Sooo... Does that mean that Beth wont make any more single player elderscroll games?
You know, just like Blizz did with their Warcraft RTS games
Considering that the game is made by Zenimax Online, not Bethesda Softworks, I hope to see more single player games.

Noooooooooooooooooooo!!

Well, maybe only a partial Noooo. I'll remove my objection if they continue to make full single player Elder Scrolls games and I can let the MMOers get on with their whole 'no sunlight' deal.

I've never gotten the appeal of these games, I've tried a few and it always seems like I could have more fun with my friends at the pub or playing games in the same room.
The developer is zenimax online studio's whose main members have worked dark age of camelot and ultima online.
And bethesda staff will inspect the lore for any inconsistencies. So REJOICE WE WILL STILL GET AN ELDERSCROLLS SIX!

So, this won't be the fabled WoW killer..
But together, GW2, Tera, ToR and TES form, CAPTAIN P- WOW KILLER. At least, that's how I think it's going to happen, people ARE fed up of WoW, and the player base is already splintering off here and there, it just takes enough MMOs like these for it to no longer be able to dominate the MMO market. Not saying it will die off completely, but it won't be the king.. the MMO market will be more.. a parliament.

So another company tries to compete with World of Warcraft. I think Extra Credits already explained why this is impossible.
well if anyone can pull it off, its bethesdal. TES fanbase are the size ive not seen anywhere else. Its hype is so big probably more people know about it than about most mmos.

This is of mildly interest me. I'm not really into MMO's, but for Elder Scrolls, I may try.

But I would just rather wait for the next SP Elders game, which is still probably 4-5 years away.

I hate the waits...

I got really excited, but then I remembered that it would probably charge. And it's released during my last year of university before I graduate. Dammit.

MMO? M'aiq does not know this word. You wish others to help you in your quest? Coward! If you must, search for the Argonian Im-Leet, or perhaps the big Nord, Rolf the Uber. They will certainly wish to join you.

I'll certainly be giving this TES title a skip. I play RPGs for their intricate and immersive gameworlds, and there's precious little immersion to be had in a gameworld with hundreds of min/maxing pricks running around shouting "n00b" and "asshat" at each other.

Bah, I'll just wait until the next singleplayer title. Although well done Bethesda - after over fifteen years of my being an Elder Scrolls fan you've finally managed to produce a TES title I couldn't give a fig about.

Sooo... A MMO.
Which means : none of the moddability, exit the ability to murder/pickpocket anyone you want and probably HEAVY modifications to the current system, due to balance issues.

The grumpy mage in me : well perhaps NOW being a mage will be as valid a being an assassin and a warrior.
The psychotic thief in me : Noooo : stealth cannot work in a MMO setting (do you see 50 people all hiding behind the same fucking tree ?).
The bitter Morrowind fan in me : meh, they shouldn't have too many issues with balance, now that there are about 3 skills in the game. /weeps for a new Morrowind.

Botomline is the TES fan in me : this simply won't be a TES game. Also, they should have tried a multiplayer component before a MMO. Also, I don't think that would have worked either.

as a pc player i wonder, how well will an elder scrolls game hold up without mod support?
if it will come out.... well, of course i will try it, but i doubt it will have the longevity of modable games....

Woah woah woah woah woah slow down here......what? Nothing in the Elder Scrolls games can transfer over to a traditional mmo format or even something like Guild Wars 2. Skyrim's freeform leveling system = amazing. The entire thing would have to be remade so its an entirely different game that just takes place in the setting.

I just want to play Skyrim with a friend or 2, like most people. I don't think there is a demand for an mmo style game.

Also......MODS. MUTHA FRACKING MODS!!!!! These make Elder Scrolls have great lastability and customization. MMO = no mods.

Basically what I'm saying is that I don't see how you can have an epic Elder Scrolls adventure in a personalized open world without a bunch of minging idiots running around unless they make it like WoW or GW which wouldnt make it much of an TES game. I am not looking forward to this to be honest....

I bet this is going to be like a diablo style game not a WoW style game. You can go with 4 or so friends on your own epic adventure or choose to play largely solo. The other people are just there in case your friends are busy or you want to trade or pvp.

I came to this thread expecting a face-book game.
Now I'm not sure what to think.... An MMO?! In the Elder scrolls...?

Well god knows how this is gonna go!

Zenimax can do whatever it wants with TES, after all, their the parent company, and it's technically their IP. But mother of god, this is just..ugh, the reason I LIKE TES so much is because of its rich single player experience. I stopped playing WoW after a year and a half. I haven't stopped playing Morrowind, Oblivion, Skryim, etc. They can make this, but I won't play it. Not a big fan of MMOs. Take up to much of my time, and they become a job.

The only thing that makes me excited, albeit slightly so, for this is three faction pvp.

Honestly, I couldn't be less excited about this. It just sounds completely bland. Skyrim is incredible, no doubt there, but this just sounds like a boring grab at more $.
