sadly, the big sister's predictability was what made me hate her. Two charged level two winter blast plasmids and a face full of slugs from the shotgun ended every fight before it should of gotten started.

after the first big sister fight I got the unbreakable achievement where you cant die while fighting her.
Seconded... The biggest problem I had with the big sister is it would trigger a strange bug any time I was hit with a charge (the brute did it too). If I pressed the fire button while reeling back from the blow it would load the auto save file, sending me right back to the start of the round. Not getting hit with that bug was more of a challenge then the fights!

ZING!!

Yeah.. I haven't played Bioshock 2 yet.. But when I read this I kinda went aww.. I would have really enjoyed a more random fighter... Enemies with attack patterns make me a sad panda :(

Was she difficult? not really. Was it somewhat interest to have a crazy, unpredictable enemy? yes. You can have the "shoot the barrels to explode and hurt the boss and after 3 rounds of that you win." but variety is cool to. I just wish they had made it smarter, like it could jump up off of walls or make traps for you. that would be cool.

She became too predictable. All I did to take her out was freeze her, drill her (with freeze drill equipped as well) and repeat until she was dead. Unless I stuffed up the timing I never took too much damage.

To the people who thought that fighting the Big Sister was easy, did it ever occur to that normal mode is actually pretty easy? My first play-through was set on hard mode, and I always dreaded the Big Sister fights. She's easier to beat in a wide open area, but those areas were only available about a third of the times I faced her. How the hell am I supposed to dodge multiple boulders in a narrow corridor?!

... Of course, you all do know that there is an enemy even tougher than the Big Sisters, right? It's called BIG MOMMA!!!

So they hyped first, and failed to work out the details later. Big. Fucking. Shock.

Lets hope they don't make like Molyneux and instead learn that it never pays to hype what will be put in your game until you've worked out how to do it.

if its a reasonably easy enemy that you fight a small group of sometimes, sure.

For a mini-boss fight, it would get a bit clusterfucky

HEYOO!!

Ok, maybe not. But I didn't appreciate the game that much.
I agree with you. I loved the first game, but couldn't get past the first couple hours in the second one. I was REALLY disappointed with the direction they took the game.

My only problem with Big Sister encounters was you(or at least I) could never tell where she was coming from. Here's an example:

In the bits right after The "Amusment" Park part, I was out of eve hypo's, health kits, money, and most ammo for everything but the Shotgun(coincidentally my favorite weapon) because I spent time letting a Little Sister gather ADAM.

I rescue her, and hear that framiliar cry. Turn around, get shot, wake up in a Vita-chamber.
Get out of the Vita-chamber, Hear Cry, Prepare myself by franticly laying Trap Rivets and preparing my Fist O' Lightning[small]tm[/small]. She comes up behind me, Wake up in Vita-Chamber again.

Get out, hear cry, run into a store. "Surely," I say to myself, "I'll be able to see her and Fist O' Lightning[small]tm[/small] her before she gets me now!"

Needless to say, I wake up in the same Vita-Chamber.

I think about staying there, until a roving Splicer decides it'll be smart to pump lead into the chamber(I didn't know they could do that at the time..) get out, hear cry, introduce splicer's face to Mr. Pointy Drill[small]tm[/small], and getting REALLY tired of fighting her, I head straight toward my objective, only for her to pop out of literally nowhere and shoot me again.

I decide to get out of the Vita-Chamber one more time before turning off the console. Hear Cry, wait, hear ANOTHER cry, go to investigate, see Sister has been hit and killed by Rocket Turret.

That is one of the most frustrating gaming experiences i've ever experienced in a game that wasn't horribly broken, topped only by Airman's stage in Megaman 2.

I would have been all for a random enemy movement and attack, keeps you on your Toes. As long as 2K didn't make her have bull shit cheap kill moves.

I don't get how dumb they are.

How do they not know how to predict it? They programmed her. Out of everyone in the known universe, they should be the ones to know exactly how the lady is going to behave.

I liked the idea of just one Big Sister, that you fought over and over...and finally killed at the end.
That's what I assumed was the system, one single abomination, rather than a whole new breed. Oh well.
I know what you mean, the stuff that game informer published way back when is quite a bit diffrent from the finished product.

Oh well...

To be honest, I don't understand what they mean about predictability.
The big sisters can be a bit more confusing than the other enemies because they're so fast. They can move all over the place. If they had just slowed her down, that would have made her very predictable... but why? They're the exact opposite of the Big Daddies. Most Big Daddies are so slow and hardly move at all. You always know where they are and you can run circles around them.

Do they mean predictable as in "which direction are they going", or more like "what are they going to do next"? If it's the latter, then even the normal splicers are somewhat unpredictable to me. They're going to run around and shoot at me, but it all seems pretty random to me. It's not like they're smart enough to try and lure me to one of their turrets or cameras. So it's not like they have some ulterior motive from which I could derive their next action... well, aside from trying to kill me, which is why they keep on shooting.

According to Hudson, it wasn't until after the Big Sister character had been announced in January of 2009, and was featured on the cover of Game Informer magazine, that they had even begun addressing the problems with the character and had any idea whather or not she would ultimately make the game.
Am I the only one who finds this hilarious?
I find the use of the word WHATHER hilarious.

The big sister was to predictable. You rescue the last big sister on the level, chuck out some traps and she springs them

Telekinesis beat her and stopped her strongest attack.

I also wished they had just one big sister, not several.

It doesn't matter how good of a job they did with the big sisters, as they weren't relevant to the plot at all. They were just there. If they weren't part of the game it wouldn't have changed that much.

Seemed kind of a pointless part of the game that just became routine. Save three little sisters, kill big sister, Wash rinse and repeat
