Columbia is nothing like Rapture, and that's a very good thing.

If you buy it now it still counts as pre-order. its win-win. wait for the reviews to say its worth getting so you know you won't get burned and get the bonus goodies(free games!)

OT: At long last, the game I've been waiting for has arrived.

Also, if Infinite has the ability to affect me emotionally like Persona 4 did, it'll be my GotY.

I don't know if it's because the review was so hyperbolic, but something made it read like it was dripping in sarcasm à la the joke Zero Punctuation DNF review.

We'll see. I liked everything about the game except the ending. I'm sure in this forum I'll be in the minority but the ending did absolutely nothing for me.

So the bad guys are normal humans just following orders, the real enemy is political corruption and cultural decay, but the protagonist has no actual ability to speak or argue and instead EVERYTHING revolves around the player leading one helpless female NPC around and shooting people in the head?

Way to advance gaming as a medium, guys. Sexist escort missions, here I come!

I can't wait for the pre-scripted cutscene where the game goes "look how racist the people in Columbia are!" by like torturing some innocent people to death or whatever, and you can't actually shoot the bad guys or do anything about it, you just have to sit there and watch it happen because GAME WON'T LET YOU!

I'm guessing they were making it an actual sequel to Bioshock until Dishonored dropped. Then they were like "OMG! A trend! Change the whole franchise! Copy that shit!"

I honestly hope I'm wrong and the game turns out to actually be good, but to date the industry hasn't given me any reason to be optimistic.

EDIT: This post was an off-the-cuff response to an overly positive review of a game I hadn't played. My intention was to contrast my expectations with what I perceived as empty hype. Mike responds point by point in the very next post, and we had a little back-and-forth about the game. While I'm still not convinced it's the Best Game Evar or a worthy follow-up to System Shock 2, I now believe that Mike was sincere in his praise. It seems that it improves over Bioshock 2 in some tangible ways.

That said, other legitimate issues have come out of the woodwork as players pick the game apart and express their honest opinions. More communication, not less, is always in the best interest of gamers. But if you're going to respond to the ignorance I display in this post, please read ahead and make sure what you're saying hasn't already been said.

Bottom line: If you think 10/10 means perfect, and you think games must provide a serious challenge, then this is not a perfect game. It's just not for the reasons I assumed after watching the video review.

"Way to advance gaming as a medium, guys. Sexist escort missions, here I come!" It's not an escort mission, I explicitly state that it's not an escort mission in the review. You are wrong.

"you just have to sit there and watch it happen because GAME WON'T LET YOU!" You are wrong.

"I'm guessing they were making it an actual sequel to Bioshock until Dishonored dropped." You are wrong.

"I honestly hope I'm wrong" Well congrats, because you ARE wrong!

Now stop being an Amazon-esque review bomber and shut your mouth before you play the game. <3

You know the rules! No pre-ordering games. They are the evil that corrupts our youth and eats ours babies, all the while destroying the gaming industry!

Not at all. There is a tiny bit of fan service, but nothing that will confuse you. It stands completely on its own.

I'm wondering... Bioshock was underwater, Bioshock Infinite is up in the sky. It would only be logical for the next "Shock" game to take place in space. Perhaps in the future. With, oh, I dunno, some kind of evil AI villain. :)

But is mr. DeWitt actually witty?

Yes, he is witty and pretty and gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay~!

Sorry, had to make that reference. I will go into the corner now.
Is this... Is this "The Producers" refference? The one with Matthew Broderick?

More OT: BTW, is there a new game+ option? Because I like those.

Wait a minute this review is too positive, not one negative was mentioned......IMPOSSIBLE Nothing on this earth can be perfect as that would mean that it has no flaws making it divine, but the game was made by humans which means if the game is divine in it perfection.....so must be the developers, but this is impossible for a human as our brains and bodies are designed in such a way that we will make mistakes, which means we can't be divine and that this game inturn can't be perfect unless, that this game must be made by gods, wait why would they make a game unless.........THIS GAME IS CHRISTIAN PROPAGANDA!!!!!!!It all makes sense target gamers who are more likely to be atheist's and convert them to Christianity, but why?.......Unless GOD needs us to believe in him in order to exist in this reality, EVERY ONE DON"T PLAY THIS GAME,by doing so you will be mind controlled by god for his sinister purposes.
