Ok, I don't like the direction the series took and thus I don't think it'd be improved by another game. Satisfied?
Why would I be satisfied? Do you think my life revolves around your opinion? Sorry if I made you think that :) And for the record- It turns out I was right about what you wanted to say and you now know where I think you should go. Your comment is pointless here. Have a nice day!

My answer? No. I kind of lost interest in the series after the second game.
"No" to what? If you're saying No to another game in the series, then please go hide in a hole and stop bothering us. If not- then clarify.
Thank you for so kindly accepting my opinion.

Your first post basically implied "I don't care, so therefore, I don't want it to have another installment".

Surely you can see why that's a silly opinion that annoys people.
See- he gets it! Thank you sir!
If he really meant that, it would be a silly opinion indeed. Just because he doesn't like it personally doesn't mean they can't make a game for those that still enjoy it enough.

I wouldn't see anything wrong with people saying "I wouldn't buy it myself since i don't think it would be able to satisfy my expectations after what happened to the original triology" though. Which is my own opinion in a nutshell and what i interpreted his to mean.
Thank you! At least someone gets what I was trying to say.
If you had scrolled up a little you would have seen just what he wanted to say. Perhaps you shouldn't be so quick to assume that "haters" want to the game not to be made at all. You took an admitely not very detailed opinion of his and interpreted it according to your prejudice.

Both of you could need some cooling down before you invite more modwrath upon yourselves. That much anger about a misunderstanding is silly.
Believe me, I've trying very hard not to. Besides, it's not that I don't want the game to be made, it's more that I don't think it'd be a very good idea. Also I'm not a hater.

Well personally I would like them to work on a new IP now I mean the Mass Effect story is told they did what they wanted in making it span 3 games and it should be left at that. Im not really the correct person to ask as I lost interest in the series after 2 so odds are I wont be buying the next game anyway but if they really did want to continue Mass Effect I would prefer it set in the future quite a way as I believe the most interesting part of the series was how its lore could develop rather than what it came from unless they retcon it ofc but I am not sure that would go down well

I don't care what people think I implied. That's no excuse for disrespecting my opinion. Esp. from a community that always brags about doing otherwise.
It's not that we THINK you implied it, you DID imply it. There was no other obvious way to interpret what you wrote.

Go back and read it, and write your opinions more carefully next time.

I could go for either, really. I'd say prequel is easier, since you can avoid taking everything that could have happened in the first game into account.

I'm not particularly interested in playing a human though. I do that every day, and have gotten pretty decent at it (although prestige class grinding IS a bit of a pain). Playing in the Krogan Rebellions or the Rachni Wars (as a Krogan) would be pretty sweet.

What? That I don't think the Mass Effect series would benefit from a new installment because that's what I'm sure I implied and what I meant. They can make it if they bloody want to, I just don't think it'd be a good idea. Now if you all are quite finished, I'm sick to death of this thread.

I want a prequel, but I want it so far in the past that everyone's still on Earth, and people still use swords instead of guns, and there's magic, and elves, and dwarfs, and you have a silent protagonist, and you're trying to kill some unambiguously bad amorphous evil, called something uninspired like "Darkspawn" or something like that...
That would be a great Mass Effect Prequel.

A sequel would be much better, and have it sooooo far into the future that the events of 1-3 are forgotten legend. New customizable character, new trilogy, just drag it out like Halo is doing now really lol.

Congratulations my good sir, you have just won the Internet. Where to next?

On Topic: Erh, yeah please don't? The issue here is you won't listen to the criticism brought up at you earlier Bioware, because your fans are diehard fanatics. And when all you hear is "Awesome, great, best this year, the future of RPG's" etc then you will get sloppy and mess up.
And then, suddenly, you're M Night Shyamalan.

Do you want to be M Night?

I say a concurrent game - that takes place with different characters at the same time as the trilogy. No retconning, all the races everyone loves and no hole to write out of.

This way the decisions you made in the first three games can affect the universe AS you play through the game. That's never been done before!

They could also let the franchise die with what little dignity remains after ME3. Which isn't much.
Couldn't have said it better myself. On the one hand, there are open ends and places to go - The Morning War, The First Contact War/Relay 314 Incident, Skyllian Blitz etc, etc.

On the other hand, it was only supposed to be three games long. Going forwards past Shepard's story I only forsee annoying people, and going backwards means while these have potential, odds are they'll pick something Human centered (e.g: First Contact War).

I would say you are being extremely unnecessarily hostile here.
Secondly if people really think the series cannot be improved by another game, it is very valid point to say here.
No it is not hating, nor it is a troll. Even thou the topic had a question in it. We should be able to talk our opinion in general here. It is a mass effect topic after all.

For the topic, I have lost my trust in the ME series.. "I have a bad feeling about this." *Obi-wan*. I think prequel would be more interesting to me. But in the other hand, I would love something to wipe away ME3 ending. (Mind bleach seems not to do the trick.)

I agree with JediMB that:
"they could also let the franchise die with what little dignity remains after ME3. Which isn't much."
ME4 game is most likely coming and I haven't decided if I like the idea or not. Some part of me wants to see more of my beloved Shepard adventure again. And the other half would love to see new IP, stories and people.

I'll probably play it whichever direction they go.

But for all those saying that something set after ME3 wouldn't work because it'd mean Bioware would have to choose a canon ending, you're saying that like Bioware hasn't ignored player choice to fix the canon before. Udina the Councillor, anyone? Rachni coming back no matter what you did with the queen? If they want to make something set afterwards they'll invent or fix a way to do it.

Nobody wants a BF2142-style spin-off of the final battle of Earth (since there was the lack of Earth fighting in ME3)? Isn't that FPS still in development?

Bigger question: Are they gonna continue numbering the series? Unless they really want ME to be the Final Fantasy of the West, probably better they stop.

I think my cynical answer right now would be "I don't trust that you're using the desires of your fans as anything more than a marketing tool."

Aren't Elcor infantry basically walking artillery platforms?

I would like to ammend my previous post, to include:

Not being made by Bioware.

Being made with next gen graphics and hardware so we can get Elcor infantry included (as well as a holstering animation).
I'm now thinking of how funny it would be to have that (inspiring speech) "If you're not ready to die, it's because you're already dead" (in the Elcor voice). That insipidly stupid quote was from the ME3 trailer by the way.
I was thinking of more of a classic D&D style party with Elcor being the nukers (almost literally, armed with a Cain) at the back of the party. I know biotics were the 'magic' part of the universe but they tended to be mezzers rather than your classic FTW! sorcerer.

Talking with them would be an added bonus.

If it's set before Mass Effect, I'm in. If it's a sequel, I'm out. I'm doing OK pretending that ending isn't real. A follow-up to that would just wreck it. Besides I actively hate Synthesis for how silly it is, and Control is only slightly less bad.

These guys really need a fresh start. Going with a game set before Mass Effect gets rid of the baggage created by the trilogy's choices. You can begin again with new choices (and they should know what they are getting into this time, so derped up resolutions to things like the Collector Base shouldn't happen again).

Someone interjects: "But if it's a prequel, we know how it will have to end".

Wrong. For one, notice I didn't use the word "prequel" in my first two paragraphs. They can set a game before Mass Effect without having it lead directly into the events of the trilogy. It can be its own self-contained story (or series) set in the same universe. It doesn't have to be some big epic war. It can be one individual's highly personal story, so personal that it might not even matter to the rest of the galaxy. Stories on that smaller scale can be just as compelling - if not more compelling - than an epic story.
