Bioware Confirms Game Extending DLC

I just finished playing the game tonight, and I'm going to be perfectly honest, I don't understand what the hell everyone is bitching and whining about. I loved the way this game ended. I didn't really expect it to end any other way than humanity getting utterly destroyed by the Reapers. What did people want? A song and dance routine where everyone lives happily ever after? I think that would have been a far bigger 'fuck you' to the fans than the endings that we did get.

In terms of DLC, I think (or rather hope) that one of them would be a mission to help Aria take back Omega. As soon as she showed up and said that she'd lost it I thought to myself 'Future DLC'. I could imagine it being standard Bioware DLC length, and I could see it being a War Asset boost.

What I absolutely don't think the game needs is DLC that rewrites and extends the ending. Though I will be interested to see how Bioware develop the franchise after this, since they have said that they're not done with the Mass Effect universe yet...

never mind the 'bleak' bit of the ending wasn't really the main issue as i've come to understand, it was plot holes, 'choices ending up not mattering' (not going there, don't have time ....) it being only 1 tweaked slightly....

The reason people find your arguments humorous instead of interesting, Zeel, is because you are arguing, not debating. You base your points on emotional reaction instead of logic which is why you feel the need to insult people. You may have some logical points to be made but you are an emotional train wreck that is very unstable and so extremely bias and unwilling to look at thing in a rational light no one wants to agree with you.

Think about it, your bitching about Halo because Mass Effect 3 sucked. What I see is you hate Halo and its success and you need a scapegoat for Mass Effect 3 sucking so you are gonna blame that. Yeah, I have no idea why Bioware is so good at missing the point for things like this. I recall that their take-away from Dragon Age 2 was that "people don't like recycled levels" because "recycled levels" is an easy bullet point to drop into a "this game sucks for so many reasons" rant.

In all seriousness though, I'm torn on this. I'm happy because it means that I get more ME3 and see what BioWare are going to do to extend the finale. On the other hand I'm sad because the way it sounds is that BioWare caved to pressure instead of continuing whatever they had planned in the first place. It could be they just altered what they had planned already simply because of the outcry, but the way the article is worded it sounds like they just caved.

Also I know for a fact it won't be free on at least the 360, although that's due to Microsoft not BioWare. So sorry for anyone on the 360 hoping for free DLC, cause I really doubt they're gonna suddenly change their policy simply because it's ME3.

Though I enjoyed MOST of ME3, it did have serious flaws (I don't even count the ending, its a separate entity as far as I'm concerned). But I want to ask, what do you hope to accomplish with the insults? I'm not asking this as an attempt to troll, or as "the guy behind the monitor", but as a human being. I am genuinely curious.

Not everyone does, despite all the evidence presented that, while it might not be sunshine and bunnies, it makes bugger-all sense if examined to any degree.

For the eleventy-squillionth time, "No!" All we are asking for is an ending that makes sense and that offers closure whilst at least giving us some idea of the long-term consequences we made. You know, like we were promised over and over in the build up to the release?

And what is so wrong with having the option of an ending that is, at least, bittersweet? At least it would have made all the extra effort I put in worthwhile! I can think of no bigger "fuck you!", as you put it, to the fans than forcing everyone down the same path regardless of wether they spent 50 hours making sure they brought the biggest arse-kicking possible with them or wether they thought: "Ah fuck this..." and rocked up at Earth waving a broken beer bottle.

In terms of DLC, I think (or rather hope) that one of them would be a mission to help Aria take back Omega. As soon as she showed up and said that she'd lost it I thought to myself 'Future DLC'. I could imagine it being standard Bioware DLC length, and I could see it being a War Asset boost.

On this point I am 100% in agreement with you - it's an excellent idea and the door is very much open for it. Personally I was expecting it to happen in the game as much bigger issues were resolved but I didn't complain when it wasn't because I realised that the base came can't have everything. In short - I'd buy it!

Go ahead and keep purchasing their products then, no one is stopping you, you are happy with it, just understand that some people are not happy with the lack of closure and the huge thematic shift.


Also please understand that Bioware has gone on record saying that they cut parts of the game, including parts of the ending. Including an indoctrination sequence.

Again, not a reasonable stance but if we all just jacked it in then no lessons would be learned and the same mistakes would be made, leading to something like this kicking off all over again.

Personally, if I were in any way involved with the making of a game and I saw all the hoo-hah that's going on, I would be VERY inclined to go back to the studio and start checking, re-checking and getting outside opinion on my own game because I wouldn't want this kind of thing rocking up at my door!

See, now I'll admit, I only finished it a few hours ago, so I haven't really had time to process it yet, but I didn't actually feel cheated by the ending. I have several playthroughs of ME2 each with significantly different decisions, and I'll import each of them, but I'll be honest, by the time I got to the whole final battle, all those decisions I made along the way... I didn't really feel like they mattered. Not in terms of the fact Bioware didn't do anything with them, but in terms of the story. As we're on Shepard's journey, all of that gets stripped away, and I felt a sense of urgency and desperation in that final dash that I felt summed up the situation perfectly.

Spoiler: Mass Effect 3 ending, in case you don't know yet...

When it came to the final decision, I actually found that a really really difficult choice to make. Because *then* I started thinking about the choices I'd made. Do I sacrifice myself to save the galaxy by doing what the Illusive Man intended to do, and leave love of my life Liara broken and alone? Do I wipe out the Reapers, and in doing so, wipe out the Geth, who by making my choices were actually helping the Quarians rebuild their homeworld? If I destroyed them, would I be dooming Tali to a life imprisioned in her suit because their rebuilding would take much longer? Wouldn't this also wipe out EDI who I had spent most of the game helping discover 'humanity' only to take it away? Or do I choose synthiesis which - in my mind - would be turning everyone into cyborgs, an idea I didn't find favourable at all. So to my mind, the decisions that I had made during the course of the game *did* matter, because they were informing my decision as to which option to take.

Ok, I will admit that I would also have liked to have seen a few scenes detailing what happened to the rest of my companions (even if it just seeing them all bite the dust) but I'm not going to pick up my torch and pitckfork and storm Bioware for it.
