It's US-only Twitter contests and autions of sorts.

Specifically, get tokens for registering your interest, registering ME2, DA:O and DA:A (or beating quizzes on them, yes it will be backdated), or winning Twitter contests. Use your tokens for bidding on swag such as PCs, games and merch.

Oh, and New York and Florida is excluded.
What? No Florida? I wasn't going to do the contests, but still. Why not Florida? It'd have made sense if it excluded Hawaii and Alaska, but New York and Florida? That's just completely senseless!
Aye. I might have to lie and say I live in Pennsylvania. Can anybody think of a reason why only those two states were excluded? I mean, NY and FL are 3rd and 4th in the country for population, but that's all I can think of. If population is the reason, it begs the question why California and Texas were included.

I wonder why it's US only... I live in VA so it isn't a issue. I still don't know whats going on, but here's my referral code if anyone wants to click it. http://social.bioware.com/brc/1233686

"We have created the BioWare Bazaar to show our appreciation of about 60% of our fan support over the last 15 years, and we're not interested in the other 40%!"

Fixed their announcement.

That said, in the interests of fairness, it's common for sponsors to stipulate that the prizes have to go to people who might become customers. It's an unfortunate view, an archaic relic of a time before a globalised internet, but that's the ridiculous reality... for now.

I'm glad they made such a big deal out of this.

I'm also glad I don't give a shit about some branded PC's and 360's, otherwise I may be bummed that I live in Canada.

Excluding New York and Florida? US only?
How stupid are you, BioWare? You must have failed Economics class...

Okay, despite my better judgement I decided to try and sign up for twitter on my computer, but despite responding to several of the "questions" I have never received any tokens or a direct message back.

Am I supposed to be using a specific number or just typing #dragonage #biowarebazaar or what?

Also I will put up a self promotion to try and win a tee-shirt or whatever:

Foul on Bioware for not giving me registration credit for both my copies of Dragon Age/Awakenings as well. :p

Do they have any stuff for Shattered Steel?

Probably not.

I wish they'd remake that game, team up with the Mechwarrior reboot or something...

Oh, I see they have "Jade PC" in the prize list. That sounds promising.
GUNNARS gaming glasses? HELL YES.

ATI Radeon? HD 5770 Graphics Cards? :D? REGISTERING HELLYES.

Whoops, nevermind, lololnewyork.

Apparently they once hired the entire graduating class of video game design from my university in Edmonton. I like these guys =D
I hadn't heard that. But then, I moved up here after my educational days were over, so not surprising. Rather good of them to hire local talent. I suppose that was their pre-"a division of EA" days though, huh?

Well, at least their "server down" messages are still funny.

It shall be the 33 to Millgate OF DOOM!
More like killgate. Why you would ever want to go there I would not know.
Neither do I (he says, as if living on Stony Plain Road is any better), but as far as I know the 33's the only bus that goes near Bioware's offices.

Posted today in the BioWare forums:

"Hi everyone -

The BioWare Bazaar was launched this week as the start of a year-long celebration around BioWare?s 15th anniversary.

We recognize that BioWare has a global community, and the Bazaar this week was originally intended to be an international event to reflect our truly global fanbase. Unfortunately, we encountered some last-minute legal complications around how contests can be structured in different parts of the world that prevented us from including all territories in this first event, even though that was our original goal. And for that, we sincerely apologize ? our goal with this sort of celebration is to show all our fans worldwide how much we appreciate your support!

BioWare definitely really values all members of our world-wide Community, no matter where you live. Accordingly, in the coming weeks, we will be announcing details about future events specifically for fans living in those territories which were excluded from participating in the first BioWare Bazaar. The future events will be a bit different from the first Bazaar in how they?re set up and structured, but our goal is to feature the same caliber of awesome prizes and great BioWare collectibles. We?ll announce more details in the coming weeks :)

The reception from those fans who have been able to take part in this first event has been incredible ? thank you for participating! - and we?re looking forward to future events where we can enable fans from additional territories to also join in the fun.

Thank you all for your continued and ongoing support and participation in the BioWare Community ? we really appreciate all your support over the past 15 years, and the future will be even brighter!

Sincerely,

Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk
Co-founders, BioWare"

Yeah....I still had faith...(as long as it's coming from BW and not EA)

THis is probably more effective to get people to buy games than any DRM.

Well, that could bode well. But seriously, legal issues were "last-minute"? That shouldn't have come as a surprise to them, and they should have known in enough time to publicise that it wasn't international.

Incidentally, am I the only one amused by the bit where you get tokens by registering your games? "Get tokens by registering Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age. No purchase necessary." Eh?

Why is everything good like this open only to people from the US? Not us British chaps?

We have good tea dammit.
