I'm guessing it's a multiplayer Mass Effect spinoff. Didn't they already say they wanted to do something like that?

Yes I got it from Kotaku
Something that pic made me notice. Look at his clothes, they have that "futuristic hexagon" style like Miranda's digs have.

Just sayin'. Something else I noticed.

I'm guessing prequel, or a spin-off shooter, the events of which happen simultaneously with the events of the Mass Effect trilogy.

I;m hoping for spinoff the more games set in the Mass Effect universe the better. Hell I would even enjoy a sky car racing game set in the Mass Effect universe. Imagine racing through the Citadel in a customized sky car fighting your way to first place. Doesn't have to be a full game could be a down-loadable arcade title.

good point there I forgot about that. Actually the first thing I thought when I saw that suit was Shadow Complex.

Things that are sure:
-This is not ME3, because Shep is officially confirmed to be the hero there.
-This is set in Mass Effect universe, as indicated by Incisor and the look of armor.

It is very likely that it'll be multiplayer-oriented game, with short singleplayer story - BioWare likes to expand it's franchises with smaller games, as shown by Dragon Age: Awakening, and recent popularity of games like Black Ops (which, on the other hand, are set in lately overused present(kinda) times) suggests that BW may want to join very profitable multiplayer shooters market.

possibly telling the story of first contact between humans and the aliens. thinking its gonna be set in london (hence why you could see the tower bridge and the thames in the trailer) with an mi6 agent sent to investigate all the wierd things happening.
The First Contact War wasn't really all that much of a war, all that happened was that a Turian patrol destroyed a group of humans trying to open a Mass Relay, then they 'attacked' one of the Alliance's new colonies which surrendered rather than have all their people be killed, then the rest of the Alliance showed up and kicked the Turians where the sun don't shine. Then the Council stepped in and it ended.
... maybe i should research the backstory of mass effect?

Well, after one hour travelling the internet for news about this announcement, I have the following conclusions, at least what I think this is and this isn't:

- This is not Mass Effect 3.
- This is not PS3 exclusive.
- This is not what BioWare has us getting used to do (RPG's and such).

- This is going to be a straight shooter game, and BioWare will use it to improve the gameplay on Mass Effect 3.
- It's also going to be a way to reach other genres and see if they can expand their market.

I really was upset when somebody told me that EA screwed up and made Mass Effect 3 exclusive to the PS3. If anything, BioWare is doing everything in their hands to keep the trilogy consistent in both the PS3 and the 360.

BioWare Drops Another Hint

BioWare [http://www.bioware.com] has let slip another hint about its secret new project and this one leads somewhere that you probably weren't expecting.
That image is all the proof that I need. It is almost certainly related to Mass Effect. That short little clip probably took a fairly significant amount of effort to put together, and (I hope) Bioware is not so lazy as to reuse a design that would still require them to remodel the weapon entirely.

This my friends, is VERY clearly an Incisor Sniper Rifle, and it is a weapon in Mass Effect 2.

YEEEEEEEAAAAHHHHH

Whether it's Mass Effect 3, or 'N7 Code of Honor: Medal of Duty', I care not, I will be greatly excited.
Good Man! Seeing you're avatar, I'm not surprised you spotted this.

:D <3 Garrus

Thanks, Mass Effect is one of favorite universes and I make sure to keep track of everything new. It's especially relevant because I always make sure Garrus and I role with the Incisor. It's just such an awesome weapon.

British spies that go to Vostok to take temperatures in an attempt to make a new record for the coldest recorded temperature on Earth that just so happen to go to the future due to a thermomiter explosion next to a swimming pool filled with toads. Wait! I copyright that!

Or, like you said, it could just be British spies stepping in for Spectres, but that is just boring.
Do you need writers for this project?

It sounds epic.

OOH! I know! Cold, Iron, British Spies... Cold Iron bypasses DR for creatures with the Fey type... It's a game where James Bond fights magic fairies!

Oh Bioware, you coy little *****.

I'm not a massive fan though, so my response will range from a shrug to raised eyebrows.

This is just a theory, but seeing as this seems to be a theory-thread... The atomic mass of iron has another meaning to anyone who's studied stellar dynamics before. Iron is the element that marks the transition between fusion reactions and fission reactions (ie. where it becomes more energy efficient to split atoms rather than fuse them).

Point is, is that iron is the last element produced by a star before it goes supernova. I think this might tie this announcement to ME2 because if you'll remember Haestrom (the place where you pick up Tali), the sun there was going nova... And the dialogue indicated that this was both not natural and of great concern to both the geth and the quarians.

As for the SIS and Vostok clues, might indicate that some of the action happens on Earth. But as we've seen in the past from Bioware, their teasers can be misleading, so anyone's guess is probably valid for the moment.

Can I just point out that in the Mass Effect universe the European Union is one of the three superpowers on the globe? It also has an uneasy relationship with the North American Union and the People's Republic of China.

http://masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Earth#Trivia

"Known human governments on Earth include the United North American States, the European Union, and the Chinese People's Federation. "

Also, I've been lead to believe a British guy is the president of the EU in the ME Universe.

I am immune to hype like this.

It's like licking a BioWare's dirty cut toenail, while advertising them for free.
