Keeping my fingers crossed that they're right! I loved the last 2 games, so I'd be in gaming Nirvana if they manage to make the final installment the best in the series.

People who cry they're going to be copying CoD isn't that kind of a good thing considering that CoD has deeper weapon customization than Mass Effect 2? I'm just saying, also it would be absolutely retarded if they tried to make a shooter without researching what makes other shooters successful so you can get your panties out of a bunch they're trying to make a better game.

Getting all angry about a product you have not seen is painstakingly retarded considering all they have done is made vague statements on what they are doing so it is mostly your own opinion and the demos we have seen don't deviate all that much from what they have been doing in the beginning.

tl;dr: Get your panties out of a bunch

I'm sorry Bioware, but no, just no.

Stop trying to grab more fans by throwing out other AAA game titles and associating them with your game. It's just coming across as selling-out.

I certainly never heard that KOTOR was inspired by some of the best elements of Halo or Medal of Honor.

And that strikes me as actually kind of sad...

But will I get an awesome button? I don't feel comfortable playing a game without that button-awesome connection because then I have to think.

When did they move to Edmonton?
Anyway,of course they're gonna say that. I'll believe it when I see it.
The funny thing is if they're counting the 200 million monster that is SW: the old republic.
Whatever they say, I have semi-high hopes for this game and I'm sure I'll enjoy it.

I loved Mass Effect, I loved Mass Effect 2, I KNOW I'm going to buy and love Mass Effect 3. That doesn't mean I am going to mindlessly believe Bioware. Dragon Age 2 was a piece of crap and I don't trust them anymore

Well, I remainin optimistic, I love both ME games and can't wait for this one.

And I get it, people don't want to look like bioware fanboys (Which I shamelessly am) So they post a bunch of cynical posts saying how its immediately going to suck because Bioware is optimistic and excited about it. And yes, DA 2 was a disappointing (but not necessarily "bad" game), but I am confused on why people are practically screeching that this game is going to suck because DA 2 didn't live up expectations.

Honestly, it may be that I really didn't care that they took out and lessened the rpg elements. As long as the game has a reasonably fun combat system (Which I found it to be, yes the cover based shooting became slightly tiresome but hey, the biotics kept it fun for me) and immersive story and environments I really don't give a damn if its "not enough like an rpg." And for god sakes, they said multiple times that they are deepening the rpgs elements anyway, so I still don't know why people are immediately assuming that ME3 won't have any.

Basically, not everyone needs to be Yatzhee -_-
apparently its a sin to be excited for a game...

Well they are not going to say its worse are they.
Bioware: It?s a good game but no better than Mass Effect 2.
The people: Well why should I buy it then?
Bioware: Ummm
See don't work if it?s not the best it will not sell. This doesn?t mean it won?t be. It could be the best game like they say but if it?s not they will still say the same thing. I just wait until I play it to decide.

Is this the best announcement just after The Old Republic pre-orders went live?

Seriously...

They say the same shit every time. Besides, last time they tried to mix all the popular mechanics it didn't exactly please everyone.
Perhaps it would be wise to focus on specific groups of people and make a really good game for them, instead of trying to please everyone by using every single spice from the cupboard - and ending up with an inedible mess.

BioWare. Why would you say this? Now if the game doesn't manage to surpass every single game you have made (Baldur's Gate, KOTOR, the other ME games), your fans will inevitably be disappointed and call you out on it. Though come to think of it, they'll be bitchy and disappointed anyway, won't they?

Slow down there Bioware, you should let your consumers decide if its your best game.

After playing the first two Mass Effect games, I highly doubt it. Unless of course they were to do an even better ripoff of Anachronox, then, it's got a shot. But face it, anything they do won't hold a candle to Baldur's Gate 2.
What these gentlemen said. I'm really sick of Bioware having their heads up their bums every time they open their mouths about their next game. It seems like every week they have something stuck-up to say about the rest of the industry, and it's all just reading like bullcrap PR drivel to me. The sheer number of things Mass Effect 3 would have to do over its two predecessors to come even close to being their "best game ever" is staggering, because both of those games came off as being really incomplete to me.

The first two things on my list would be to add the space combat that's been missing, then to improve the space exploration--and those are the things that they absolutely aren't talking about. Yeah, the minute details they're adding to the combat system that should have been standard in the first place they'll go on about all day and keep patting themselves on the back and calling themselves geniuses for it. Woopiee, you made an implausible stand-in for a combat knife. How about making me give a shit about the Normandy? How about finishing the space exploration part that's been half-done for the last two games, helping me establish a more tangible connection between myself and the ship's systems and equipment? No? Just slightly better combat and a story so overblown that they can't possibly be doing space exploration bits due to how massive the immediate threat is?

I'm sorry if I'm ranting a bit, but it just feels like there's no feature they could plausibly have added to make me feel positive about this game, especially after they've passed up doing those features justice for the last two games, are talking about a "bigger audience," and have that list of titles as their references, completely ignoring what fans want out of their games in favor of what they like about other peoples games--something I'll always hold as the biggest mistake developers can possibly make. There's a lot of Bioware fanboys who're dying to get their hands on this and who'll argue that the story will be so worth it that I shouldn't care about those other things I mentioned, but Bioware's storytelling is so been-there-done-that for me at this point I just can't care any more...

Are you going to pretend your posts were coherent? Seriously?

Gears gameplay while they are after the CoD audiece. Copying the same popular game is what bad comanies dp, e.g activision. We already have gears of war, we dont need a clone.
Yeah. That's why Mass Effect is not a fucking Gears clone. "Third person shooter with a cover system" DOES NOT equal a Gears clone. Try not playing Soldier next time, might help.

Yeah becuase customisation is all about looks, not stat customisation. You dont want customisation play linear corridor shooter #264
In Mass Effect - it's still not necessary in the slightest. If you seriously think that lacking that feature is a super serious fucking flaw, you're just wrong. It's not something that is required, never will be. Fallout 3 has far less companion customization - still a great game.

Damn it sucks to be you if you cant make up your mind before buying a game, you must waste wase alot of money. New captain merica looks shit, but hey dont take my word for it or the gameplay footage. Play the game.

So your friends like recycled areas, button mashing combat, illlusion of choice and annoying waves of enemies spawning. Damn they have high standards if thats a good game wonder what they think of DNF.
You shouldn't "make" your mind up about something. You can tell if it's for you or not, but it's impossible to tell with 100% certainty if a game is bad, especially when the "shit" part doesn't have to do with technical aspects and controls, which it clearly doesn't. Also, btw, sarcasm works better than condescension. Especially when the aforementioned condescension comes from someone whose posts make him seem like the guy who can't possibly talk down to anyone and still come out with any semblance of public image.

Also, button mashing combat? In Dragon Age 2? Yeah. Cool story, bro. Clearly you are an expert at this shit or everything else for that reason.

Yes I have actually, not every tps is a gears clone, vanquish is grat, and so is red dead redemption. But Bioware "studied" the game and it plays just like gears for me.
Yeah. I got nothing to say about that. The game that you call "Mass Effect" and is simultaneously a Gears clone clearly does not exist.

Well considering they have to contend with their long upheld masterpiece 'Baldur's Gate 2', I'm not entirely sure I believe them. Especially considering there isn't a drastic shift in its gameplay style from 2. ME 2 was great, I wouldn't call it their best game.

As for the RPG elements, I think they'll be threadbare. The skill trees seem simple, and even now I suspect 'weapon customization' is their answer for in-depth character building systems. It will still be a good game I don't doubt, but I'm not buying into any hype.

I'm just hoping they take a cue from Red Dead Redemption and a few other games that've come out in the last little while that came with randomly-generated content. I want Mass Effect 3 to last me a long time, so having a few distress calls on planets or randomly-generated areas to explore would be hands-down the best thing to add (for my sake anyway).

I just can't believe David Silverman is working for BioWare now. That's awesome! I wonder how many other people on The Escapist have ever watched Battlecast Primetime to know who he is.
