And begin people bitching that Mass effect wasn't RPG enough because they couldn't see dice thrown and manipulate a spreadsheet of raw stats along with the people bitching that "It'll never be as good as X, X is perfect, perfect, perfect, best game ever, I love it love love best evah *fanboy mouth foaming*"

Biowear thinks they made a good game, that's not an accomplishment, its their job. Ideally ever game should be their best ever since every game should improve their abilities in some way. I hope Mass Effect 3 is better then the last two but I knoiw that how hard you try you can't please the hardest most resistant crowd: fanboys. Fanboys for and against you, ironically. Most people are going to like the game but trying to win fanboys is suicide since bending the game to their taste will alienate everyone else. As such, just make a good game Biowear and be happy, everything else will work itself out.

The best game they've ever made? I doubt they(or ANYONE ELSE for that matter) will ever top the entire Baldur's Gate series... ever. I mean it's the friggin BG series for crying out loud. It's literally made of brilliance.
Anyhow, I sincerely hope they're not kidding about making it more RPG-ish, than ME2, while not throwing away the fun shooter-y bits. As someone said before - if they do manage to find a perfect balance between the two, and really putting an effort in both of 'em (ME2's combat could've used a bit more variety tbh), they could theoretically make a truly excellent game.
Not nearly as good as the BG games, obviously, but still excellent.

What, you mean you mean the maker of a product says it's awesome? Incredible.

In other important news, State Farm claims to have best insurance, McDonalds claims its burgers are delicious, and Enzyme claims to make your penis larger.

The thing is that Mass Effect 2 wasn't by any means a bad game, or even a mediocre game. It was a good game. What bugged me the most about it is that I felt that some of the best parts of the first Mass Effect had been removed for Mass Effect 2. ...that and the ammo thing, which didn't make any bloody sense no matter how you tried to spin it.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and Bioware saying they took inspiration from Gears of War and Call of Duty doesn't fill me with a great deal of hope. Quite the contrary in fact. It fills me quite a great deal of dread.

Watch the trailers that Bioware has released for this game so far. At WORST, this game won't be better than ME2. This is game is going to be awesome, they would have to *try to make this game bad, for it to be bad. I trust Bioware.

Should be BioWare: Star Wars: Knights of the old Republic Is the Best Game We've Ever Made
You can see into the future then?
What? No, not The Old Republic/TOR (2011) , I meant the beautiful Knights of the Old Republic/KoTOR (2003)
Yes, I got that part. What I was commenting on was how you must have the power of precognition to know how good a game that doesn't come out until March is.
All the cool Jedi have that power these days.

OT: Apart from the announcement trailer, they haven't really gotten across the feel of the game yet. I knew exactly what ME2 was going to feel like as soon as I laid eyes on it, and that continued throughout the entire marketing campaign.

Obviously I'll buy it, I loved the second and enjoyed the first, but after DA2 (even though I know its a different studio, its still just... there) and me not really being able to get a feel for it, I must admit it keeps slipping to the back of my mind.

as the enlightened public enemy once taught us "don't, don't, don't; don't believe the hype!"

this is like when the Bee sharps said they were bigger than jesus, only replace the Bee sharps with Mass effect and Jesus with Baldurs gate/Torment/Kotor..etc

This is a shameless, completely transparent attempt at hype-building, even if there is genuine feelings of this in the dev team.

And you know what? It's fucking working. Give me my Mass Effect 3, you bastards.

A game better than KOTOR.... lol, no way... there is only one explanation for this, Mass Effect 3 IS KOTOR3!

Anyway OT, I hope this game lives up to the hype. I loved the first two and just hope that this one will keep me as hooked as I have done with pretty much every other Bioware game I have played.

It's the best game they've ever made which is why they're showcasing the shooting mechanics and comparing it to the likes of Call of Duty.

He said that the game struck a balance between the action - which BioWare wants to be on a par with the best action games around - and the RPG side, which he admitted could have been deeper in Mass Effect 2. Silverman said that BioWare hadn't wanted to go so far down the RPG route that Shepard started breaking out his dice, but at the same time wanted to give players the chance to really customize their characters. "We've done a lot of research about what people liked about Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2 and other games too," said Silverman. "What they like about Gears of War, Assassin's Creed, Halo, Call of Duty and lots of RPG games, too ... We've looked at all these games to see what's resonating and what's not."
^^ Yay! Squee!

"Happy happy, joy joy!
Happy happy, joy joy!
Happy happy, joy joy!
Happy happy, joy joy joy joy!"

Oh nay sayers, you shall not upset me - I'm looking forward to this game more than any other game - more than any other game in years, actually. ^^

seeing as the development cycle wasnt 5 years, i seriously doubt bioware managed to make action "on par" with GoW or something similar, and the fact that they keep comparing Me3 to it is only gonna hurt them. your bloody RPG devs, you dont have experience with shooters beyond the ME franchise, and your competing with a series with more money, more experience, and far more focused gameplay than you. you couldnt make a straight 3rd-person shooter on par with gears, and your claiming that your RPG hybrid can compete? the best game youve ever made?! well what has the edmonton office made, cause if it isnt only jade empire, thats a bold-faced lie.

seriously, can bioware make ONE announcement that isnt trolling?! im looking forward to ME3, but every time bioware or EA opens their mouths about it, i have to consider not buying it on principal that i really shouldnt reward such asinine advertising and PR...

I'm looking forward to Mass Effect 3,but I doubt that it will beat the "epicness" that was Dragon Age Origins in my case.

I saw the demo from E3 and it looked quite promising. From what I saw there ME3 looked on par with ME2 which is good, but not "amazing or best game ever" as they claim.

It makes me a bit sad when ME1 is criticized of having too much number crunching, when the issues of that game could have been fixed with some very simple measures. A better inventory/shop UI and less loot would have worked wonders.

I wouldn't want ME3 to show us dice rolls and complex tables, but it is possible to have deep gameplay dynamics and lots of behind the scene number crunching without overwhelming the player. We just need the tools to handle it properly.

When did they move to Edmonton?
Anyway,of course they're gonna say that. I'll believe it when I see it.
The funny thing is if they're counting the 200 million monster that is SW: the old republic.
Whatever they say, I have semi-high hopes for this game and I'm sure I'll enjoy it.
...Dude they started in Edmonton

If this were any other developer, I wouldn't believe this.
What if Valve said it?
They said it about Portal 2, which if you've played Portal 1, is hard to believe.

OT: I really can't look forward to this game anymore than I already am, Bioware, so I don't know why you keep teasing me like this...

said that that Mass Effect 3 was the best game that the developer has ever made at its Edmonton office.
"...oh, @#%&. Except for The Old Republic! Wait! Come back! 'The best game that we've ever made, except for The Old Republic'... Dammit. Lucas is going to have a @#%&."
