I tried finding one with no luck. And tweaking the .ini files to get it to work (all I could do was get close up textures to not stream in properly when I told it to use higher resolutions... That is, it takes the low res texture and filters it at higher resolutions, or that's what it should have done, but it just displayed black instead...)
So you tried to manually work in an anisotropic texture filter in the .ini files when the game's configuration utility already lets you set AF up to 16x? Why?
I was not manually setting up AF. I set AF at x16 and, up close, textures looked pretty much the same. (AF tends to really only effect far away textures by making them less blurry) This is because the resolution the game was working with (and filtering) was too low. I could see the individual pixels on the people's armor and they are freaking massive. It is not a blurry problem, but a resolution problem. I was attempting to tell the game to import the low res textures (say about 512 x 512) as high res textures (2048 x 2048). This cuts each low res pixel into 4 high res pixels, filters them, and displays textures at a higher resolution. At least, it should have, all I got was black as the texture, which means the game was not streaming them in properly, which means it wasn't scaling up the textures how I wanted them to...
Right, with ya now. Although going 512^2 to 2048^2 will split the low rez pixel into 16 (pedantpedantpedant). Did you try 1024s to see if it was a limitation of the rendering engine that was spadging the 2048s? I know a lot of older game's rendering engines had hard coded texture limits, usually capping at 1024^2, and while ME2 isn't old nor is it's engine they are console optimised so... well, you never know. Oh yeah, did you try it with AF off? That can also cause some conflicts when you're trying to resize and filter a texture on the fly.

I personally hate feeding into this moronic debate, but I will just share with you some facts that I happened upon.

Mass Effect 2 on Playstation 3 = $59.99 new

Mass Effect 2 on Xbox 360 (as of today on EA's Online Store) = $19.95 new
Cerberus Network (Normandy Crash Site, Zaeed - The Price of Revenge, Cerberus Weapon and Armor, Arc Projector, Firewalker Pack) = free
Blood Dragon Armor = $2.00 (160 Microsoft Points)
Alternate Appearance Pack (Garrus, Jack, Thane) = $2.00 (160 Microsoft Points)
Kasumi - Stolen Memory = $7.00 (560 Microsoft Points)
Equalizer Pack = $2.00 (160 Microsoft Points)
Project Overlord = $7.00 (560 Microsoft Points)
Aegis Pack = $2.00 (160 Microsoft Points)
Firepower Pack = $2.00 (160 Microsoft Points)
Lair of the Shadow Broker = $7.00 (560 Microsoft Points)
Grand Total = $50.95

As you can see, the ones who are ultimately saving money on January 18th are the 360 owners who buy it then.

You've taken this stellar epic you released in 2007 and reduced it to a 15 minute interactive comic? Well that's great...
IF you have absolutely NO other way financially of getting the first game in ANY way, shape or form.

If I only owned a Playstation 3 and I read this, I would have, in all seriousness, walked out the door, went to the closest game store to my house, bought an Xbox 360, bought both the first and second Mass Effect games for it, and played them both on it as they were intended. It may cost more, but sometimes you have to pay more for quality.
first point, as of January 18th xbox is cheaper sure, but as I've said before, what about people who got the 360 version when it was still $59.99? form them to get the game at launch prices, and then get the DLC it wold be what? $110.94 not counting taxes, by your numbers. so who gets the better deal at launch? and you can hardly say that they had to waited a year, please they weren't waiting for it, they weren't even fans, it was an exclusive game to 360, and PC and if sole ps3 owners wanted it they would have got a 360 or pc for it already.

second point, mass effect 1's copyrights are owned by Microsoft, so it can't be remade for ps3 because they own the rights to it just explaining it in case you didn't know why they haven't made it for ps3.

Is it bad that I'm re-buying ME2 on the PS3?
If all such acts sum up, it skews the sales figures and makes them think "wow, we should do more of this separate-release-dates-with-improvements thing".

Hmm, this is good news for me, since I've always wanted to play them, but was sure my computer was too slow.

I honestly don't mind the game coming out for PS3. I am happy that owners of that system get to enjoy one of the greatest (if not The Greatest) games ever made. With that being said I think it is BS that they get all that extra stuff because they "waited" yea because we as 360 owners would not have waited a little extra longer to also get a great polished game along with all the DLC in it. I am very VERY disappointed in Bioware on this one. They could have handled this much better than they did. I hope this means they will reward 360 owners more so when ME:3 comes out or I will no longer support them as a consumer.

Ah fanboys, always the unwitting entertainers.

Seriously, I doubt they even gave a toss about flamewars. If anything it was probably a slow day at the office after shipping and the exec' decided to say that so they could read some threads and get a good laugh out of it.

Strictly speaking, the PS3 version will be much better value, since you get the main game, plus all the DLC packs included free as well.
Value = better. It's not that hard to figure out.

None of that changes the fact that you're still getting a year old game. Yes, in 2010, Xbox 360 and PC owners were paying $110.94 for all Mass Effect 2 content. But that was then. And diehard fans (like myself) went and bought it when it first came out. That's not to say that there aren't people who will wait a year or more before eventually buying a popular title at the time. I haven't bought any Halo or Gears of War sequel to this day. Nor have I bought any of the Call of Duty games. That doesn't mean that I'm not going to buy them eventually.

And yes, I did know about the copyright issue. All I'm saying is there could have been more effort put into making what is essentially a checklist of major decisions not seem like a checklist.

Thank you. At least I am not the only one who feels this way. I literally spent over $100 on Mass Effect 2 between every DLC and the pre order ($5). Now it comes out, $60 with all DLC. Also, the EA store might be selling it for $20, but retailers are still in the $50-$60 range, and the retail stores are where most people are going to buy it. So the 360 people getting it for Christmas will have to catch a good sale on it to even make the overall prices comparable.
