Leave it alone Bioware, don't show her face, far too many people in creative works (games, movies, books, everything) have forgotten that imagination beats anything they can do, every player of Mass Effect has a different Tali in their minds already, leave a mystery.

i agree with not revealing but what if the escapist started a contest for fans to make their own version of how they visualise her (if they can draw that is) and get everyone to simply vote the send the winner/s drawings to bioWare and force them to put it into the game.

that way at least a percentage of people would be happy.

If they really wanted it to be hilarious they'd do something like this...
I HATE to quote Naruto...but..."And behind my mask.....IS ANOTHER MASK! Cool right?"

Seriously, I was just thinking of the mask behind a mask gag yesterday, and now I see someone has DONE it. XD

There's a really obvious soultion everyone is missing and it's thus:

Have tali take off her mask as an option, so you can choose whether or not you want to see her face.

I wanted her as a love interest in Mass Effect. I finally got to have that happen in Mass Effect 2. As great as it was, it was a huge tease and a major letdown NOT to see her face. This isnt Master Chief we are talking about here, and I think they SHOULD show her face, at least if she is your love interest in Mass Effect 3.

I think, at this point, no face could possible live up to everyone, or even anyone's expectations. So don't do it. Keep the mystery, and let us imagine what we want it to look like. Sure, some people won't like it, but it's better to keep it in the dark, then end up making something truly hideous. Honestly, I can't even think of what *I'd* like her to look like. Everything I come up with ends up either too human-like, or too strange.

I personally don't want to see Tali's face revealed. I think there's something said about leaving it to the imagination, and players have really taken on the character and have no doubt personalised and idealised her. You also can't please everyone :)

Besides, to my Shep, Tali is like a little sister.
hmmm what if they showed us what some other quarian looks like that way people get an idea and can fill in her face for themselves alittle better maybe?

Exactly this. First of all, the mystery should be kept...there is no way they can reveal her face without disappointing the majority, it's better to just not try.

And although it's a little off topic, I also see Tali as a little sister character more than some romantic icon. Then again, I went FemShep, but the point stands.
Same here. That's why, for her trial, I always take the Renegade option if I can, even though I'm usually paragon. So much righteous anger, it's like they Shep actually WAS defending her little sister, though I've usually seen it more as a "mother to her troops" sort of thing.

Whats the big deal about Tali anyway? Shes boring, a stereotype, annoying and I cheered when she died (while I defended the rest of the crew to death and beyond). And she beefed with my bro Legion. Get that ***** off my ship.

(I should add that I think its a big plus point for Bioware when I have characters I hate as well as I have characters I get along with well. To tell a good story they need to have every player despise one person. In my case there were two, Miranda and Tali. Tali is dead on my save and I hope Miranda wont be part of the crew in Mass Effect 3 though)
I like Tali, but I see your point about it being good to have characters you hate. In a similar vein, I remember how much more interesting it made KotOR 2 when all the crew members pretty much despised eachother. Bao Dur hated Mandalore, Atton and Handmaiden hated each other, Mira and Handmaiden actually liked each other, and teamed up to fight over the Exile against Visas, Kreia hated Atton and felt threatened by Handmaiden, etc.

Nah, that wouldn't work, because there would still be an actual canonical face for her. As of now, Tali has no face besides what we imagine for her. If they did that, she'd have a face, and we'd all just be plugging our ears and pretending otherwise.

Tali is interesting because she is mysterious, and yet expressive. Show her face and we lose that special thing about that character.

I would prefer they don't show her face or any other Quarian's face at all. Leave it to the imagination.

It really doesn't matter to me if they did or if they didn't. And if they did, I would accept whatever look they would present of her (or any quarian). This is one of those things like presenting Wolverine's origin story, or revealing his and Rogue's real names (James Howlett, Anna Marie), that no matter how well you do it, it's guaranteed to piss people off. How many people have heard a radio DJ or a voice actor for years, and then when you see what they look like, it's completely different than what you imagined.

I would like to see it if for no other reason than it will put an end to all of the stupid, unimaginative, "renditions" that circulate all over the net. The joke ones can sometimes be funny, but the ones that try to be serious just come off as irritating, nonsensical, fan fiction. The ones that really grate me are the people who take a random shot of a model, Photoshop her skin a different color, and stick a sign on it that says, "Tali Unmasked". I'm already disregarding every version of Commander Shepard that isn't my own. I don't need to also do that with fan-o-vision versions of characters whose appearance I can't change.

To put it another way, no matter how professional you try to make it, no matter how accurate you try to make it, this...

will always be considered a pale imitation of this...

because this is real.

Has anyone read V for vendetta? The comic not the film. the last scenes in that sum it all up *go's to his book shelf and finds the place* "If I take off that mask, something will go away forever, be diminished because whoever you are isn't as big as the idea of you...". However Bioware have had Shepard remove Tali's mask without showing us, which at the time seemed clever but now... *slow clap*

They could just show us what Quarians in general look like, without showing Tali's face. So then we would at least have an idea of what she is like.
Those are exactly my thoughts.
That would ruin the mystery while revealing nothing. It's the worst thing they could do.

I say keep the mask on. No good can come of showing her face now, it will just disappoint people.

Have her take of the mask and have no head what so ever. Spin some bullshit about Quarians pretending they do have faces so humanoid races wouldn't be creeped out by them. Then all the fanboys would be equally pissed off, which is really the only fair way to go about it.

I'd prefer keeping the mystery intact. Showing her face at this point can only lead to shock and/or disappointment. Yes, it's a bit odd that the player character has seen her but the player has no idea what she looks like, but I like it that way.

Whatever she looks like, people are going to be pissed. Might as well just leave the helmet on, if you ask me.

This is so sad (and ABSOLUTELY 110% true), that I legitimately feel sorry for Bioware.

It's also a bit Ironic, that the developers of more Morally ambiguous, "no-right-answer" moral decisions, than any other dev house........is now trapped in a morally ambiguous, "no-right-answer" decision.

And as a fan of Irony, this makes me chuckle. Good luck Bioware XD

The no right answer games are like The Witcher. Never have I Mass Effect come across a moral conundrum that was not solvable by using the red/blue option and getting holier or worse.. Paragon system would have to be removed in order for no right answer moral problems to appear. It's either good guy or bad guy. In the Witcher it's semi good semi good, or semi evil semi evil. You have to figure out which one is the greater good or lesser evil, which really makes the game a whole lot more interesting.

Ah, yes, the Master Chief effect. The same thing can be said of side boob and panty shots being somehow hotter than straight up nudity. It's the mystery that keeps it so very interesting and enticing because what we can come up with in our own individual imaginations is far superior to what BioWare could ever present us.

On the other hand, every mystery novel has an ending and I'm presuming that this game will wrap up the Reaper invasion if not the entire Mass Effect series in general. It's conversely very understandable in the Halo series for MC to keep his hat on when in front of the camera because they'll presumably keep making Halo games indefinitely at the present time and why not? They make money, so no reason to spoil MC's real face anytime soon and really, I can already guess what he looks like. Short, dark hair. Clean face. Super generic. And even though I read the first Halo book I can't actually remember how they described his appearance... But I'm getting off track.

All in all, as Mass Effect 3 draws to a close it should wrap up many things. They've already revealed what Krogan females look and sound like which is itself a huge thing. In fact, aside from humans and the "genderless" Asari, we've never seen another race's womenfolk. Hopefully we'll get to see them as well, plus a logical reason as to why they've been so camera shy (I know they explained why Krogan females are hidden away, but Garrus has specifically said he had a "friendly brawl" with a female Turian soldier soooo...). Quarians as an entire race have been in the shadows and in the end I think it'd be nice icing on the cake to finally see Tali's face.

Additionally, the devs shouldn't be so worried about what she'll look like if they do reveal her. Sure, we all have our expectations and our own ideas as to what's behind the mask, but in the end, it's THEIR IP. THEY made it. If they say Tali looks hideous, for whatever reason, we all just have to deal.

Regardless, the games so far have been kinda hit and miss with the combat and the RPG aspect, but at least we can all rest assured that the story will be well told... so long as they don't take the Dragon Age 2 approach to it.
