Actually worth mentioning (your pretty on the ball but I'm just adding):HuntingWolf_01 said:A black hole is what can ouccur when a star "dies". first it (the star) will become a red giant, in other words, it will get bigger, then it will expolde and one of three things will be left behind. A white Dawf star, a black dawf star or a black hole. A black hole is a sheer mass of gravity that sucks literally everything in, nothing can escape, not even light, hence the name black hole. If a black hole entered our solar system there would be nothing we can do, unlike meteors and asteriods which we do stand a chance against. And just like the Muse song there are such things as Supermassive black holes, i dont know how they form but i think its when two black holes meet but i dont reall know.
as for what happens when you get sucked in one is quite simple, your body will be stretched like string and you'll be dead before you go past the Event Horizon.
most of the time stars turn to white dwarfs there is no supernova (explosion) - they simply go from red giant directly to white dwarf by giving off its mass and changing processes within. An explosion (supernova) occurs only when a red giant grows to rapidly and reaches critical mass.
And actually we don't know exactly what happens at the event horizon, observations show matter seems to stretch but that is relative to our point of view, perhaps from the object's point of view its a totally different story (very likely the case).
