A hundred billion combinations... of which I bet 2 or 3 are actually viable.

"Didn't you hear they changed this game's name to Diablo: Forever?"
Too true. I was hyped about this game during it's first few hundred years of development, but not so much now.

They had better release this on consoles. This game is looking so awesome that it will come to violence if they don't port this.
Heck no.

This is the game I am looking forward to the most, I have sunk so many hours into diablo 2 and enjoyed every one of them.

DAMN YOU BLIZZARD!!! Making me spend thousands on a gaming rig...just so I can play this game....and 2 others....one of them made by Blizzard....DAMN YOU AGAIN!!!
Come on, can you even be serious? Diablo 3 is hands-down the worst AAA game graphically in quite a while. Even past that, you can get a PC that runs anything and everything on the market on at least medium for something like 500 bucks.

Much as I mourn the loss of runestones as they were in D2, this so far looks pretty nice.

I'd pay 200 bucks if this game looked half as good as the Witcher 2... Come on, Blizzard.
Because Graphics are everything right?

They have a fundamentally different art style, D3 is going for a gothic and dark setting, whereas Witcher 2 is standard colorful fantasy. Ill take smooth framerate and good art design over higher resolution any day of the week.

Well Diablo games aren't MMORPGs, so its not exactly in direct competition. You don't get the same experience from playing with a full realm of people in a constantly present world versus exploring randomly generated maps with less than 10 people. So I don't know how many MMORPG fans it will win over, but I've always liked the Diablo series more than any of them anyway.

Went from 33 runes in Diablo 2 to 5 in Diablo 3? Still looking forward to this, but still... only 5 runes...
eh, well in D2 they just did small things like slight increases in stats/damage ect. In D3 it seems that they can drastically change the way the ability is used.
Wrongo.

Runes could also be aligned on weapons to create something more powerful. The right runes in the right order, placed in the right weapon and its slots, could result in an entirely new weapon to use..
Yes, but runewords are still just items. D2 runewords are just another way to get items, D3 runes have real impact on skills and spells.
In the end, D2 runewords are just more unique items, while in D3 they provide more spells choices. it is obvious which is better.
My thoughts on the issue as well. Runewords were pretty cool, I wouldn't even mind if they kept them in some form in D3. But having a way to give every class things like teleport and Battle Orders just made class distinctions a bit blurred anyway.

This new system looks really cool to me and is making it even more painful waiting for the damn game.

Why on earth not? Why shouldn't people on consoles be able to enjoy a game as good as this? I really don't understand all this elitism that so prevalent on this site. The more people that can enjoy this gem the better surely?

Or do you really just want to be one of those types that stands there and says "Neerrrr nerrrr I can play this game and you can't!!"

The game does not have '97 billion' different class builds. It's an incredibly misleading claim.

Not entirely serious, maybe.

Damn that looks awesome. I wasn't entirely sure what to think of the rune system in D3 when I read about and remained mostly ignorant to it until now.

I'm pretty impressed. Seems like they'll have very profound effects on the way each skill is used, which is awesome. I wonder how rare these runes will be...

Good to see another disgusting skill by the Witch Doctor as well.

That's exactly why I didn't care much for runewords.

So it's essentially WoW's glyph system? WTB some creativity! (And I mean in content, not in ways for them to get more money out of us.)

Or because I saw what they did with Crysis 2.

4 armor modes? NOW YOU HAVE TWO, TO MAKE IT LESS COMPLICATED!!! HAHAHHAAHA

I don't want the game I've been waiting for 10 years to be dumbed down enough to make it work on a gamepad. It won't be the Diablo as we know it.

Also they tried Diablo on PS1, it failed because... well, only PC is good for Hack'n'Slash games. Mouse really IS necessary.

Besides, if your PC can't play Blizzard games, you probably should stop playing on a calculator..

Torchligh which is basically a diablo clone is pretty fun and done well for a hack and slash on the console. Your crysis complaint doesnt really make sense to me but i never played crysis. How is a game being less complicate = bad thing?

The thing is, in Diablo "5 points in Skill X and 3 points in Skill Y" is a measurably different possible build from "3 points in Skill X and 5 points in Skill Y." It's obviously a maximum, but I don't see how that makes it inaccurate.
