*Sigh* I remember when developers could change things without forums blowing up over it.
Those were good times.

Who is "tracer"? Who are you "misrepresenting"?Nick Monroe said:"We want everyone to feel strong and heroic in our community. The last thing we want to do is make someone feel uncomfortable, under-appreciated or misrepresented."
Yeah, I just don't get the point of making a stand on this one. Dang near all the art with Tracer on it has her twisting her ass into the frame in one way or another already. Which is a shame, since I think Tracer has a really cool overall design and tone to her. She was already designed to be attractive and had a cute accent, the ass-shots just seem kind of extraneous and sad most of the time.Redryhno said:The Rogue Wolf said:Cue the cries of "censorship" and "SJWs ruin everything" (which, naturally, wouldn't occur if we were talking about something like a male character thrusting his ass at the camera) in 3, 2, 1....
I honestly think that probably sums up the argument of people against having it there. Also literally every other thing Blizzard has done having something MUCH more risque than something as innocent as the Tracer thing somehow passing muster for those with that mindset.
They still can...erttheking said:*Sigh* I remember when developers could change things without forums blowing up over it.

...How the bloody hell is this a controversy? One person said that they didn't like it, that's it. The controversy isn't about the pose, it's about the pose being taken out.MeatMachine said:I'll readily admit that the proclivity of overt sexual emphasis of female characters in video games is really tiresome to me, equally because it feels like condescending pandering and a complete stonewall against original female character design that I'd actually be eager to see.
Still, the tripe cries of "offensive! sexist!" is so groan-inducingly over-reactive it makes me think that people have internalized the fact that becoming histrionic on demand gives them the power to change menial things. As much as I'd like to see a larger overall divorce from sexual female characters, I don't thing that their mere existence should be THIS offensive to anyone's reasonable sensibilities and worthy of change due solely to outrageous backlash.
Besides, a spandex buttcrack? Give me a break - at least the Dragon's Crown Sorceress is a reasonable controversy.

Yep, it's funny to me that only non-artists ever see art as somehow sacred or unassailable. With my own amateur work and with the professional artists I know, there is always an interest in hearing the impact their work has on people and seeing if they failed or succeeded (and to what extent) in their goals. There are times when I've attempted to evoke a sexual impact on the viewer and times when I want nothing of the sort. I only once worked with creating a human image and one thing that stood out to me about it was how easy it was to create a human image that was inherently sexualized. It happened to be what I was going for at the time but it happened so easily that I really ended up feeling very negatively about that drawing.MarsAtlas said:Funny, listening to actual artists just made me look at their decisions in terms of positive or detrimental towards their goal instead of a free speech vs censorship battle for the developer's soul.
