Man enough with this game to movie bullshit. There's Mass Effect, Bioshock, Silent Hill, Prince of Persia, even Red Dead which hasn't even been out for half a year. Stop trying to cash in!

Something which worked as a game is guaranteed to fail as anything else. And vice versa. As Cristoph Ganz discovered, who felt viewers were too stupid to understand what the movie was all about and decided that the best way to recreate the feeling of the games is to explain the whole mystery near the end.

Eh, it just seems like it would be Aliens reskinned.

Except with a worse plot and less likable characters.

More importantly, both Blizzard and Cameron seem to be a-okay with the idea of doing things that aren't very original, as long as they're done well. Avatar's story was as generic as they come, and StarCraft won't be winning any awards for the strength of its narrative anytime soon, but they're well-presented nonetheless. Just get someone else to write the dialogue, please.
Well... the original Starcraft's story was actually rather refreshing, and while the narrative certainly wasn't as good as the presentation, it stands as one of the greater pieces of game-related storytelling. The sequel, though, can occasionally make Avatar's dramaturgy seem fresh and unique ;-)

But yeah, it'd take more than a team of Cameron's writers to make the dialogue viable.

Either way, I think we can agree that a collaboration between the people who make World of Warcraft and the guy who made Avatar would be the most profitable project in the history of everything, right?
You Blizzardites will regret that idea more than the Transformerites regret Michael Bay. One word. Plot.

Cameron will tear your canon apart.
Our plot died long ago, but we still have a lore.

Well, I'm on a James Cameron mood right now, yesterday I saw for the first time Avatar (on DVD nonetheless) and I simply loved it, after that, I wanted to see Aliens again and it's as cool and awesome as it ever was (although a bit dated... only a bit).

James Cameron for Starcraft would be a perfect match and maybe we could at last get the best game to movie we always craved for.

You'd have to keep Cammy's hands away from the script and anything creative. Good luck with that.
Suddenly, the movie focuses on a group of Terran miners who, with no reasoning or logical character development, invade a small Protoss colony to begin mining efforts. Of course, all the Terrans who are bad will naturally have to be white, except for that one guy who realizes the Protoss and their hippy ways deserve a chance too. Also, throw in something about how Vespene gas has lead to ozone depletion and you're done.

...My God James Cameron, when did you sell your soul to public opinion?

Seriously, Cameron's got to get his politics out of his work, it made Avatar INCREDIBLY annoying and judgemental.

That's a very kind way of putting it ;-)

I do think, however, that it won't be Alien reskinned at all. The small-scale horror and survival focus of that movie could easily be replaced with large-scale animated battle drama, which will be even worse than just a reskin...

maybe, though I think it would be better if Neil Blomkamp the guy who did District 9 so then it would be heavily story. :D
100% agreed. I would much prefer the gritty, unpolished feel like District 9 over anything Cameron has done. It just adds to the feel of the SC universe.

What's with the whining? Alien(s) was great and Avatar alright. If Blizzard wants to stay true to the backstory then so it shall be.

If Blizz were to let Cameron direct the film, I'd be forced into a life of domestic terrorism against all things Blizzard.

If nothing else, Blizzard has the power to tell Mr. Cameron exactly what liberties he can take with Starcraft's story.

...Not that this will ever happen anyway.

he would lake the backing to make this kind of movie to work, plus a story heavy starcraft would not work, a action focused movie would be much better
