I really have to disagree with this, just going on what I played of Diablo 3 and SC2 at BlizzCon. They're both shaping up to be utterly superb, honestly. Don't get me wrong, the ex-Condor/Blizzard North guys are going on to do some awesome stuff (nothing but love for the Runic folks) but D3 and SC2 are incredible amounts of fun from what I've played so far.
With respect to console gaming though, you can't really see any of those games outside of the PC.

I mean, FIFTEEN YEARS is a long time. They may have been concentrating on their money making franchises, but since then, no activity with regard to consoles.

Of course, I would have waved this off if these guys had an idea for a console game, but haven't had the time to make it...but the whole "matter of what game" leaves me feeling that these guys don't even have a foundation to brainstorm on.

When I wonder? Years after Diablo III is released? Which in itself will be released a bit before the Armageddon? One thread title, so many questions.

Perhaps, they MIGHT be planning to resurrect Starcraft: Ghost? Well, thank you Blizzard for teasing us so many years before this console game gets released, you sadists.

Lost Vikings 3 confirmed.
this. so much.

either that or a Starcraft FPS.
Starcraft FPS?

No......

Ever play Command and Conquer Renegade?

Wasn't bad, but mostly meh.
It was called Starcraft : Ghost, and it looked amazing. So did Lord of the Clans (the book was amazing, I have no reason to believe that an adventure/RPG wouldn't be as great considering how well Blizzard have shown they do RPGs).

This is also a step towards a new Lost Vikings, which would actually be the best game of all time.

"We just want to make the right game for the right platform. Think about StarCraft II [http://www.starcraft2.com/]. Some real-time strategy games have tried to happen on the console. Some of those have been successful, but overall, our experience is that it's going to be a better game on the PC, ergo it's developed on the PC."
See, he gets the idea.

The return of Starcraft: Ghost? Please say yes.
For that I'd buy a console. Anything involving a.. You know those psychic, invisible assassins.. Playing as one of them would be insanely fun.

Only read Liberty Crusade, need to re-read and catch up on the rest. And play the game again.

Diablo 3 for the *Sob* 360? *Sob* Yes *Sob* Please *Sob*......
Or, it could come out for consoles with optional keyboard and mouse support. To release a game that started to bring those into consoles would greatly increase the ability for RTS's to transition to the console. I can't speak for the 360, but I do know the PS3 can use a USB keyboard (at least mine can, anyway).

I think this will be good. however how will this affect Diablo times?
Assuming 'Diablo times' means something to do with how long it'll take for D3 to come out: Very little, I'd wager. They have separate teams working on different games - apparently in entirely separate buildings.

Nope, this seems more like "Bobby Kottick is fucking with company plans" confirmed.
Oh please. Something this vague, essentially "We'll think about it someday - we're not ruling it out" is evidence of The Great Satan Bobby Kotick suddenly getting his Evil Mitts (TM) into this? I get that people don't like him, jeez, but stop blaming him for every single decision every studio under the Activision umbrella makes. Whatever you may think of Kotick, he's not stupid, and I'm pretty sure he knows better than to mess with the goose that lays the golden eggs.

Gotta remember that the Blizzard of today is not the Blizzard of Lost Vikings or Rock'n'Roll Racing. After the dismantling of Blizzard North I don't think we'll see a return to that kind of visceral funitude outside of milking the current WoW franchise. I just don't think that the current talent is up to the task.
I really have to disagree with this, just going on what I played of Diablo 3 and SC2 at BlizzCon. They're both shaping up to be utterly superb, honestly. I have so many high hopes for D3 that I have to wonder if they could ever meet that standard anymore... What I saw seemed too samey with regards to Diablo 2, and while this doesn't bother me insomuch as I still play D2. It just doesn't shift the game forward. The difference between Diablo and Diablo 2 was significant, adding some real new depth to the game. I don't think I know enough of Diablo 3 to really speak about how it is or is not the same as D2 but from what I saw it was incredibly similar while sporting a new paint job.

I'd read the Escapist special on the first look stuff for D3 and it left me wanting a lot more in the way of what's coming. Is there any way you guys could do an in depth look at the new features of D3 that really stand out from D2 or have you been sworn to secrecy?
Well, I don't know if it's going to be that drastically different from D2, though I'm reserving judgment until I see how they're going to handle skill tree revisions. It's unlikely that it'll be a huge revolution, because that's something that Blizzard really doesn't do. It's just fun as hell.

Man, I wish I knew more about D3 than I do. Blizzard is probably the most notoriously secret developer I can think of off the top of my head - they kept StarCraft 2 a secret for five freaking years - so mum's the word from them. :/

One would hope that Blizzard would put a lot more polish on it, unlike EA/Westwood.

Or maybe not. I Played Crysis and felt that it was a much better version of Renegade.

ya just like how we were "definitely" suppose to get duke nukem forever, or how E.T was "definitely" going to be awsome, or my personal favorite cd add on's are "definitely" the way of the future for console gaming
In all fairness to CD add-ons, disc-based gaming DID become the future for consoles.
I'd say ZING if that weren't such a "no duh" response, lol

OT: I doubt it. Blizzard has tried a couple times since they exploded to bring stuff to the consoles, and it's always been meteoric fail at best.

Even the games that did launch, like Warcraft 2 on the PSX (yes, I'm not imagining that.) was a complete bomb, when compared to the PC version.

And Starcraft Ghost just evaporated without hardly a whimper.

Blizzard is definitely biased towards making PC games, and you know what? That's alright. Need some companies making PC games for the everyperson. Blizzard is almost required to be a PC developer, just because the only other big PC gaming are only focused on the top 2% of PC users who can run things like Crisis, or who have the coordination and expertise at playing a multiplayer FPS like TF2.

Blizzard makes games for the everyman, and they're one of the last major PC devs doing it

There's two companies in the world who make PC exclusive games: Blizzard and Valve. I'm worried this may further weaken the position the PC has in the gaming market.

The last PC Exclusive game from Valve was one of the Halflife 1 expansions as memory serves.

I suppose Garry's Mod could count as well, which is slightly more recent.

I hope the Pc gets weaker then since it just seems to give the PC market good games in genres that it never got like

Dirt 2 (racing game certainly aren't big in PC land)
Resident evil 5 (3rd person shooter)
street fighter 4 (arcade beat'em up now all we need is capcom to buy namco so I can get a soul calibre release)
Assassins creed (3rd person platformer)
