While I know that Bobby Kotick has been saying a lot of stupid shit for...well, a long time, I do find it amusing that very few people here are actually happy that he's supporting the fight against the California game law.

Ah, how hate blinds us...

the only reason hes shitting his pants is because if this passed CoD sales would take a massive hit. it'd still be popular but you know bobby and his money.
I concur with this bloke/ette, his only concern is the bottom line.
But the point remains. His bottom line benefits ours. I'm not going to fall in line with some people calling him our savior on this issue, because quite frankly, that sounds too cool for Kotich, but he's trying to preserve our right to play. Even if its for different reasons, we're all still on the same side.

I still dislike him, but this is a case where we have to side with him. He and the gaming community can continue their war after this issue is settled.

Finally. Now hopefully the two of them will go at each other until there's nothing left.

Perhaps in a children's card game?
I have never agreed with any sentiment quite so much in all of my life.

Not really surprised he's joined the fight, glad he has though. Say what you will, but the mans ability to be so eloquent that he screws over his fanbase repeatedly and makes them beg for more should come in handy.

This isnt him being one of the good guys this is him looking for himself and his money. He has only joined in as he know this could effect his sales.

Not impressed he is still a enemy of the gaming industry and is just trying to make it so he can still screw over as many of us as possible

Honestly, its really, really hard to see the end of the console shooter's various "madden" series as a bad thing for anyone. These games aren't complex and challenging. They aren't new and innovative. They're just the same shit over and over.

Its just the potential banning of every other game (as not honoring the lord is obscene) that puts me against this law.

Looks like SimuLord was right. Bobby Kotick may indeed be our last, best hope.
All the video game nerds will looks up and scream "Save us", Kotick will whisper "Yes".

Yea... hes really only saying that because it would greatly impact activision's most successful properties.

Speaking of, thats a pretty loaded week. ACTA on the 30th, defacto game banning on the 2nd.

I didn't think 1984 would come so suddenly!

While he's obviously just in this to protect his own precious profits, I suppose it's nice to have someone with as much influence as him on our side in this.

I agree with what he said. I can't wiggle my way out of saying that. I still think Kotick is a tosser, but he's our tosser right now, so I want to keep him around.

I half-agree. Kotick has said WAY too many stupid/arrogant things over the past months for him to earn my trust or even my support with this one statement. Still, we should be glad that the CEO of a mega-publisher, regardless of his motivations, is on our side.

blahblah double post

Is it not bad for the people who play those games? Yes, people do, otherwise they wouldn't continue making them. How is it fair for you to say "yes, I know better than you, these games are bad and you shouldn't be playing them!"

And you people say Kotick is arrogant.

Not Just Any Children's Card Game! This card game shall take place...on a boat! And when one of them loses the card game we'll...push him over the edge of the boat..into the sea!

OT: Frankly, Mr Kotick's motives behind his opposition of the Californian game legislation couldn't really be more (apparently) evident if he had the words "VESTED INTEREST" branded on his forehead. Oh well, lesser of two evils and all that.
Besides, we don't need Kotick, he'd just slow us down with his money & resources-that's my story and I'm sticking to it. OK, that's enough YGO Abridged jokes from me.

Although he may fight for wrong reasons, he does fight for a good cause.

Sounds like Kotick is the Sixth Ranger in the opposition.

The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear arguments [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/100241-Supreme-Court-Agrees-to-Review-California-Game-Law] in Schwarzenegger v. EMA on November 2.
Off-topic I guess but does anyone else still think "Schwarzenegger v. EMA" sounds like the title of a new action film? :p
