the only reason hes shitting his pants is because if this passed CoD sales would take a massive hit. it'd still be popular but you know bobby and his money.
I concur with this bloke/ette, his only concern is the bottom line.
But the point remains. His bottom line benefits ours. I'm not going to fall in line with some people calling him our savior on this issue, because quite frankly, that sounds too cool for Kotich, but he's trying to preserve our right to play. Even if its for different reasons, we're all still on the same side.

I still dislike him, but this is a case where we have to side with him. He and the gaming community can continue their war after this issue is settled.
Honestly, its really, really hard to see the end of the console shooter's various "madden" series as a bad thing for anyone. These games aren't complex and challenging. They aren't new and innovative. They're just the same shit over and over.

Its just the potential banning of every other game (as not honoring the lord is obscene) that puts me against this law.
The Madden series is good if you only buy a new game every three or so years, because by then all the little inovations they've added usually amount to the price of a new game. Every year is too much, but at the same time, that's how the sports world is. Ever changing, and some people like to keep up to date on it. The series is easily avoidable. Same goes for the Call of Duty series, and Guitar Hero for that matter (though I prefer Rock Band).

Its the censorship in general that puts me off the law. You can't censor something you don't like and expect what you do like to go untouched. Its an all or nothing law. Gotta take the good with the bad.

Although he may fight for wrong reasons, he does fight for a good cause.

Sounds like Kotick is the Sixth Ranger in the opposition.
Nah, he's the Token Evil Teammate [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TokenEvilTeammate].

The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear arguments [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/100241-Supreme-Court-Agrees-to-Review-California-Game-Law] in Schwarzenegger v. EMA on November 2.
Off-topic I guess but does anyone else still think "Schwarzenegger v. EMA" sounds like the title of a new action film? :p
Kinda. Its an interesting name for a SCOTUS case at least. XD

Even though he probably only says that because underage kids make up the majority of his company's consumers, he is... right! It seems even cartoonishly evil and greedy business overlords can be reasonable some times...

I dislike the few cherry-picked examples of his business practices that I actually know about, but this guy obviously knows his stuff and will make a formidable ally. The more, the merrier.

So the CEO of two of the largest videogame companies in the world doesn't want videogames banned in any way?

It may be all about the money, but it's all about OUR money. And he wants our money, so he's got our back. This is kinda like a Mafia Don who takes a percentage of your income and in exchange goes to bat for you against the other Dons.

Everything else Bobby says that annoys the shit outta me is generally just PR and hyperbole. But I kinda feel the way about Bobby now that I feel about a bloke who's in the army and would go off to war for me, but whom I wouldn't want at my dinner table...I feel a grudging respect. He's still not coming to dinner, but if he's willing to go to bat for the industry I'll hate him a bit less.

AND NOBODY ELSE has the type of money to throw at a problem like this that Activision has, I mean no way in hell are they gonna let their $1 Billion behemoth but put to bed...and honestly...I can't blame them one bit!

GO TEAM ACTIVISION! GO BOBBY!

While I know that Bobby Kotick has been saying a lot of stupid shit for...well, a long time, I do find it amusing that very few people here are actually happy that he's supporting the fight against the California game law.

Ah, how hate blinds us...
You don't know if people are happy or not.

I think we can all agree the more support against the law in California, the better. Unless he says really stupid shit to change peoples minds for the law, but I doubt he would be that dumb.

Kotick is amazing at getting silly ideas. But this time, he is actually fighting for the right cause. Not for the best of reasons, but he is on our side. That's good enough.
Pretty much, it makes sense for the guy to be on our side. So, he's on our side, let's enjoy the fact as this is an absurd waste of time.
