I'm looking to buy a book. I need a recommendation. I read young adult fiction, specifically fantasy. Some of my favorite authors are Garth Nix, Trudi Canavan, Raymond E. Feist, Stephen Donaldson (Kind of heavy for me though), Rick Riordan and Darren Shan (Although I have slightly outgrown them), Eoin Colfer, and that's about it. The His Dark Materials trilogy was quite good and John Twelve Hawks is also... OK. I have read just about everything these authors have to offer, however, and I need a new book/series.

You should have a good idea of the kind of book I like from the above list. So, what would you recommend to me? Most of my book reading is the result of gifts given to me by a family member which start me off on an author/series which I then devour. I feel like I'm probably missing some really obvious/essential books which no fantasy geek should be without.

So, that's it. Oh, and make it fast. I want to get this book in, like, the next 30 minutes.

Hitchhikers Guide Tril-Hex-Ology
Jennifer Government
Any of the Goosebump series
Phillip Reeve's Mortal Engine series
Any Terry Pratchett except Monstrous Regiment and Shada.
Any Neil Gaiman (although Good Omens is probably still the best)
Jasper Fforde's Thursday Next series
Robert Rankin
Anything by Phillip K. Dick
H.P. Lovecraft
Matthew Reilly
Lucifer Box series by Mark Gatiss

or...grab some classic like H.G.Wells, Ursula Le Guin or Daphne Du Maurier.

Also if you like young adult fiction then you should also try The Dark Tower series by Stephen King although it's gets a bit confusing about halfway though if you're not familiar with earlier King books.

Legend by David Gemmell, it was the first adult heroic fantasy to get me off children's fantasy. He's since become my favourite author and I've read almost every one of his glorious works (sadly, he died recently).

OH! I also need a few good ebook sites which deliver in Adobe Collections, PDF, ePub, or any other format supported by the PRS600.

If you're looking for Epic, there's always Elric, Conan, Jack Vance; you could go by the way of William Gibson, or Michael Marshall Smith or even to the many, many Dr Who novels.

Try The Crooked World for a starter: The people of the Crooked World lead an idyllic existence. Take Streaky Bacon, for example. This jovial farmer wants nothing more from life than a huge blunderbuss, with which he can blast away at his crop-stealing nemesis. And then there's Angel Falls, a racing driver with a string of victories to her name. Sure, her trusted guardian might occasionally put on a mask and menace her for her prize money, but that's just life, right? And for Jasper the cat, nothing could be more pleasant than a nice, long nap in his kitchen - so long as that darn mouse doesn't jam his tail into the plug socket again. But somebody is about to shatter all those lives. Somebody is about to change everything - and it's possible that no one on the Crooked World will ever be happy again. The Doctor's Tardis is about to arrive. And when it does...That's all folks!

The Dune series is very intelligent and interesting.
I agree with this guy. So many interesting concepts, such a good plot, such intelligent and deep characters. I loved the philosophical questions posed by the original Dune novel.

Apparently, buying Unseen Academicals as an eBook is akin to pulling teeth. Some places have it free, but only for those of you in America, while other places have it priced as considerably more expensive than the FUCKING HARDBACK!

*Ahem*

I think I'm losing it.

THANK THE DEITY! I finally found a place offering it at a reasonable price to those of us outside America! Diesel Books, I could kiss you... If you weren't... a... website...

Yeah...
