It's horrible stuff, and I'm not into rushing out to get endorsed things.
And it's singular. Branston Pickle. It's pickle-chutney-type-stuff.

Branston isn't a brine pickle. It's sweet vinegar, fruit, and spices. Mmmmmm.

My brother got me into it a few years back after he spent a year living in the UK. I can honestly say it is AMAZING with toasted cheese!

I should be getting my jar/crate or jars of Branston Pickle soon actually. I had my mom coax the import guy who works for the supermarket she manages to get a shipment of it in just for me. =P

This is hilarious. I wonder what other quintessential English products Yahtzee could endorse.

Gentleman's Relish? Mr. Brains Pork Faggots?

Just the thought of some American ZP fans asking their parents or supermarkets for Gentleman's Relish & Faggots is almost too funny.

Im pretty sure Gentlemens Relish isn't a product that can be bought! Certainly not up here in the North! We do have Faggots by the bucketload though.

Branston pickle is the way forward.

I assumed that Branston Pickle is not available in the US. As far as I can tell I'm right. Though if they were easily available to me I would definetly buy them, I love pickles (and gherkins), and it sounds to me like another thing me and Yahtzee have in common (The other thing being a hatred of JRPGs).

I see you there Branston Pickle, in the condoments aisle... I'm not sure exactly what you are, or when I'll be brave enough to see what you taste like... but I know where you live and one day I may come for you... mark my words.

"The Pickle CRISIS of 2004

At 3am on 27 October 2004 a massive fire almost destroyed the entire Bury St Edmunds factory and cut the stocks of Branston Pickle in half, thus reducing the supply of the product and in some instances increasing the price."

And that's pretty much all you need to know about Britain.

Branston Pickle is quite good but I'd always prefer a nice beetroot chutney or, as I'm a pretentious bastard, some Jalapeno and lime marmalade.

What do all the Branston lovers think of the small-chunk version? I think its smoother consistency lends itself well to sandwiches; my girlfriend thinks it's heresy, and won't have it in the house. At work, there's a giant tub of Branston small-chunk pickle in the kitchen, which is plastered with the words "I'm so easy to spread!". I don't know what upsets me more: the anthropomorphising of Branston Pickle, or its subsequent pimping-out.

EDIT:

Jalapeno and lime marmalade sounds lovely. Where can I get it, and what do I do with it?

Branston Pickle and a strong chedder sandwich is a match made in heaven. I will be stocking up on my trip home this xmas.

There really is such a thing as gentleman's relish, my old foody flatmate used to eat it. But I never touched it anchovy based.

Well, I got the name a bit wrong, it's acctualy Jalapeño, Lime & Coriander Chilli Jelly, same basic principal. You can get it HERE http://www.chillisgalore.co.uk/ And I personaly put it on just about anything, it's especialy good on roast meat but it'll go with pretty much anything, I'm having some with the turkey at christmas this year.

It's worrying that I know so much about condiments.

We have Nutella (I should pick some up) at the local Wally-world. Maybe the international market in the nearest big city would have some Branston Pickle. It sounds kind of good, and I'd like to try it.

That's the one thing that makes me sad about the internet though. Getting to talk to people about all the awesome things they have in their country that I'd so much like to try but will probably never have in my country (America).

Ah, well, I digress.

You say this now, but until you've eaten both a roasted brined turkey and a grilled brined pork tenderloin I do not accept your dislike of brine as a general rule.

I only recently started to enjoy pickles, kosher dill only. I have no concept of what a jar of branston would be like. Did you know kosher pickles are pickles with garlic-- not that they are unoffensive to the jewish religion? I found that interesting.
