IGN likes it fine enough and gave it a 7. They gave SOR4 a 7 as well. In my language that means RR Is either one point higher or two points higher. IGN Can never get a right even when they do a positive review score.
No bullshit, I really stopped looking at these day 1 reviews for games like RR. They're not good as you really can't fully experience the true potential and design from just only the couple 1st playthroughs with games like this, and I also really don't think the 10/10 score is a great metric for score as well (Especially with IGN, who don't even know how to place a proper score on most things).

I'd much rather wait a month and get an opinion from somebody whose played the game a lot rather than a surface level opinion from when the game out, day 1.

Same. The I prefer people who've done a least 3 weeks minimum to a full month, when it comes to shorter games like these.

That seems like an unrealistically long time for a game that most people will go through once or twice then go play something else.

Unrealistic for people like IGN and most of the big wigs. It's why I prefer the independent reviwers. Most of them, especially the smaller ones, will take their time and it works out for both parties. Give me Cvit or Avalanche Reviews any day of the week over the rest of the "professional shaft", aside from Easy Allies.

Not very helpful if you are excited to get the game when it comes out, but want to know about its quality. So far too, most of the reviews on steam seem to be more negative then the big sites.

Then go for either ACG, Easy Allies, or someone else. You already know what to do. Sometimes you gotta go with your gut, and just have fun. I didn't waste time on reviews for Streets of Rage 4, Shredder's Revenge, nor Ninja Warriors Once Again. I went in raw. Everybody has their own thing on what they can or can't spend money and time on. So you do what's best for you. You can get it now or later, if you're not certain. Or you can spend money on Vengance Hunters, since it is $10 cheaper. I still have to pick that up later.

I can't speak for Steam, but for all we know, it can be a PC/Steam specific issue with the game that doesn't effect the console version. Also, Steam has moments of people either review bombing or exaggerating way too hard on the negative.

I definitely do have a mixed bag when it comes to day 1 purchases. Sometimes they're good, sometimes they miss the mark. I did with Armored Core and Streets Of Rage 4, have yet to regret my purchase.

But damn, the worst is when you buy a game, get too busy, then don't play it. And after 2 weeks or something you can't get your refund back.

ACG is a wiener and doesn't have a review for it anyway. I'm kinda surprised that both ign and gamespot have reviews for it, then again, I tend to just do pcgamer myself and they are pretty random and somewhat sparse with their reviews. But, I also play a ton of indie games that never get reviews, aside from someone like Civvie 6 months after they release.

A lot of them talk about how slow your character movement is and not liking how all the characters are the same. Different animations but same stats. Also the game being pretty short, especially for $30 bucks. (1.5 hours seems to be the agreed length)

Then got to Matt McMuscles for a game like this. He'll have a review out before the week is over or by the weekend. Usually when it comes to games like this. I forgot ACG don't review too many indie anymore unless really high profile or something he's personally invested in. I wouldn't call him a wiener though.

This has a been a problem with PR brawlers since the 16-bit days. Sad they couldn't be more creative on character tool kits.

Streets of Rage 4 and Shredder's Revenge are about a half hour longer and both were $24.99 digitally. SOR4 was $40+ physical depending on who you were buying from and what edition. Ditto for SR, but the standard price was $34.99 on discs when buying from Best Buy, Amazon, GameStop, etc.

Doesn't help someone wanting the game now. Oh hes totally a wiener, I called out a dumb joke he kept using in one of his review and he freaked out in the comments.

If its a really good game it can survive a short length for cost, if its not then its one of those things that will grate on you endlessly. Both SOR4 and SR are quite good games. Sounds like Power Rangers isn't.

I like Mark from Electric Undeground, though I do have to say he does have his own personal biases, and I definitely don't agree with everything he says.

Well they better learn to suck it up, be patient, or play something else. I can play the waiting game just fine.

I don't bother to keep up with what goes on in his comments page. I am shocked, because he's usually not like this. Though I've noticed quite a few of the independents that become big or bigger get "offended" or "upset", because you didn't laugh their joke or 100% agreeing on their opinion. I had to pretty much drop Sphere Hunter due to her nasty attitude on people enjoying the Silent Hill 2 Remake, yet has to gall to praise every single remake that came out before that point. All of sudden she is "tired of remakes" when Capcom (she is pretty much a contractor for them now) is not doing it nor is the Dead Space Remake. What makes SH2 so special? This also the same woman that went out of her way to defend Callisto Protocol. She still preferred DSR and Signalis though. Sphere insulting Akira Yamaoka and saying "no one cars about your music" in such a dismissive and bratty manner (in the crying about a toy you know you can't have tone) showed how full of shit she is.

Don't even get me started or Gaming Brit. He became an absolute biatch who loves the sound of his own voice.

Both SOR4 and SR are quite good games.
Damn straight.

Sounds like Power Rangers isn't.
An average game that is overpriced or should have been at $15 from the start. Oh well.

EU can fuck off. His opinionated jackass, that will change his opinion at the drop of a hat, make up bullshit, or fabricate lies to support his warped view or own pathetic narrative. Don't even get me started when he had changing opinions on SOR4, and was getting really personal on the developers. He can fuck off on his RE4R "review" as well. People like him are mad at the remake, because it coming out doesn't make them feel special anymore. Sucks to be them.

You can watch him if you want, but I can't stand his holier than thou/"I'm better than you" smug attitude.

I would have to rewatch those vids or watch them for the first time to have an opinion on that. I would have rather had a remake of Silent Hill 1 or 3 since those scared me, Silent hill 2 did not so I kinda missed out most of the story and themes since I was just too disappointed that it didn't freak me out, aside from one room in the hospital.

@Worgen and @ExtraWildGames, New Brawler called Wendigo Blue!
I really like the graphics, but it seems like its an item brawler, which I am... suspicious of. I would much rather a pure brawler like SoR4, Fight N Rage or Final Fight then something with stats and stat boosters. I can put up with that but it needs something else to hook me like the music and animation in Scott Pilgrim.

God, Scott Pilgrim aged like milk. Felt like shit to play when I last played it and you do baby ***** damage at the beginning cuz no xp. Turned it off after 30 minutes from that and all the bullshit hit detection and slippery ass physics on forward momentum and shit.

I find it funny Yahtzee said this yet, shits on the first game so much for "having a dumb cult plotline" (for pretty much more than a decade), that he can get fucked especially on this. I wouldn't have minder a remake of 1, but it technically already happened with Shattered Memories. Second: SH2 is the most popular, so you can't exactly blame Konami, when most of said fans hold up SH2 as some holy grail on everything about games being art. So the fans have no to blame for themselves whom held SH2 on such a high pedestal in the first place. I played all three of those SH games back in the day. They're all good at what they do, but I have bigger preference for the Mason story line than James's story.

I am still willing to give this chance. I want to see more first and learn from the devs themselves on what they're trying to do.

Scott Pilgrim should've ditched the RPG elements entirely or go open world to facilitate them like Kunio-Kun/River City franchise. River City Girls 1 & 2 pretty much show how much the devs working on this fucked up. They did learn from their mistakes with Shredder's Revenge, so I'll take that over nothing.

Its pretty much entirely held up by fantastic pixel art and music.
