I haven't noticed lag yet. ((Im playing it on the 360))

Maybe when i wake up in the middle of the night and get paired against people in Spain or something. ((I live in the US of A, and im not proud of it))

This game got bad reviews because its not a CoD clone. Its not a twitch shooter. My friend plays Blops every day, ((and hes decent at it)) and shooters take up 90% of his collection, but he didnt like brink, because it wasnt CoD.

One issue with it is that it kind of forces people to adapt. Sure you like being an operative and sticking people with a spike grenade, or being an engineer and placing turrets and mines, but you'll lose every match if no one plays soldier and plants the bomb. Its a team based game with an emphasis on team, and everyone these days wants to lone-gun it.

I honestly dont have a single friend who owns brink at the moment, but i play it online all day and never complain, because im willing to play a class i dont like for 3 minutes of a 30 minute match.

Brink gives you alot of freedom to play however you want, the customization is great, and the gunplay feels amazing.

I personally was never a fan of TF2. I didnt like team fortress one bit. It felt alittle 2D, with each class only being able to play one way. Brink fixed that for me. I can be a heavy operative, and do great! ((strangest contradiction, but its magic if you play right)) Or i can be a Light medic and use my speed to save my team! The restrictions of TF2 are kinda removed, but not unbalanced, and it works great.

Oh, and free DLC is always nice :) maybe they'll throw in a top hat or possibly some new levels.

i never had lag but then again this seems to be mainly a problem for 360 users.
Brink had bad luck with the release, if a game does not run as smooth as one would like on a platform thats alright as long as it's fixed fast(how is blops multiplayer on pc/ps3 these days) and we get some free stuff to make up for it. The problem is that with the psn outage the majority of customers can't play and that sucks.

I like how they're calling us 'veterans' when the game hasn't even been out for a week yet
Maybe they mean people who play as the veteran archetype? Seriously, though, it's probably a nod to those of us who stayed loyal and haven't instantly demanded refunds for server launch issues. I was looking on their forums to see what was being done about the lag, and there are so many people who don't seem to know that most mp games have launch server issues. True, this was worst than most, but still.

It sucks a little to see the human players reduced to four per side, but it definately helped, although some games still lag. It's a nice temporary solution anyway, but i hope it's patched proper soon. It's nice to hear about the dlc, it looks like SD are keen on supporting this game.

A quick note to people getting "unbearable" lag; try co op campaigns until we get the patch. I seemed to get alot less lag in that before the player limit was lowered.

Good, very good. While I like the core of the game and how it plays (had some really intens battles), it does suffer from certain important issues that need to be addressed before I can really get into it. Glad they're actually doing that.

Also, please fix whatever issues makes that I can't put Brink servers in my Favourites list. It's a pain.

The random incompatibilities. In this case, the incompatibility with ATI GPUs and AMD CPUs.!
So that's why it's performance is sub-optimal on my PC.

I had to reinstall my drivers SO MANY TIME to get it to work with no lag. And get this, multi is smoother than solo on my PC O_O can't wait for the next patch, hopefully it will fix it's issues with ATI GPUs.

Also, hate to be that guy, but I can't help but cringe at the sight of

Bethesda Softworks' hyperactive shooter Brink may have launched to disappointing reviews
In my book, these scores http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/brink/critic-reviews http://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-3/brink http://www.metacritic.com/game/xbox-360/brink sound mixed, average, not "disappointing".

But yeah can't wait for the free DLC, the game is really fun!
Mixed to average reviews is disappointing. Brink was a highly anticipated game with gamers expecting it to receive rave reviews. The current scores are a disappointment.

The game is great but the friendly AI could use some work.I mean they usually run off solo with carrying objectives and don't bother with the rest. What's funny is I'm picking off enemy reinforcements somewhere and suddenly we win because the friendly bots pulled a miracle.Still haven't tried the multiplayer I want to get a better feel.

It kinda reminds me of Lost Planet 2 with the customization but it's a lot better. You can mix and match just about anything and not look like a clown.Needs a bit more weapons and it seems they toned SMGs in the patch so it's good to actually carry other weapons.

I feel duped by Bethesda/SD; I actually believed there'd be some story in the campaign mode. Like those cool videos of Security landing in Container City and one police freaking out nervously. None of that was in the game. The only blurring of lines, apart from AA, with this game is between truth and lies in the marketing. Mostly lies, of course.

It's a team based shooter, with bots (UT 2003 style); no story mode, there's just cut-scenes at the beginning and end of each mission. This "blurring of lines between single-player multiplayer, online, offline" amounts to the cutscenes being present in both MP and SP. There's absolutely no blurring of lines between offline and online play, just bots. Although I welcome SMART to replace rocket/grenade jumping, and the added mobility, I bought this game because it promised a foray into multiplayer driven story.

Fail.

It's still a pretty good team based MP shooter, though, so I guess all is not lost when the free DLC comes around. 8 maps is not all that much in a game like this.

I've played it for two days and I'm already growing tired of the missions.....

Good old Bethesda. I have the PC version of Brink... and it was pretty much amazing from day 1 on that.

Good that they're on the ball with the patches. Unusual for companies working with Bethesda "cough" New Vegas "cough".

Speaking of Brink, when will the site staff have their review up?
Haha, you missed out again, which sucks. That same patch that broke the console version of New Vegas fixed the majority of issues with the PC version. Not that I ever had a problem with it on the PC anyway. All the bugs were forgivable for me based on what good was delivered. A better platform for you is in order I think.
Well, no, I am playing NV on a PC, its just how long it took for the big fixes to come out that makes me shocked that Bethesda is actually being rather punctual at the moment.

I see, makes sense. That last one was kinda long in the waiting. But the PC version of Brink doesn't seem to have that many issues as far as I can tell. The only issues with MP I had were my idiot friends not forwarding the right IP Addys for Steam. Though, looking at their release record, I wonder how Skyrim is going to be coming out of the gate.
Brink PC player over here, it has HUGE issues with ATI graphic cards. Like seriously huge. It's like the major fix expected in their next patch. For so many 4xxx people the game is unplayable, and for some 5xxx you have to play around with the drivers.
In case nobody has told you, there is a very easy fix out there for the 5xxx issue. Im not sure what it involves as I dont own Brink and only flew over the article but im pretty sure its something quick, easy, and something that wont fuck up your whole pc if you fuck up. Google it.
Well please enlighten me really, I spend yesterday googling it out and what I tried did not make it smooth.

People with ATi cards shouldn't complain about game stability, as they have pretty much chosen that route themselves.
Really now...ATIs are not that unpopular (at all) that you can just ignore compatibility issues

Cool cool. The game is seriously fun, its very addicting to play, but man where there some huge flaws and poor design decisions made. Hopefully this shows they're dedicated to fixing them. The player numbers being scaled back though is silly. "We have server problems, frankly they suck. So to fix it, you wont be able to play with the base number every shooter in the world has had since 2000."
That's not what they're doing, they're making it so you can have both, 8v8 is now going to be called "Big Team" so there :)

Also everyone has been saying how the AI don't work and don't support you, but they've been awesome on mine :S Not AS good as human players obviously but they're still awesome none the less :S

When I was playing it last night I noticed a hell of a lot of lag when there was only 3 people on the server, then later on it calmed down a bit and I thought that was fair enough... Then I looked at the scoreboard and noticed I was the only player on the server.

Seems fine in co-op though, I did both campaigns with my friend in co-op and we didn't have any lag at all.

That's great. My main problem with this game is that you can be both campaigns extremely fast and then all you can do is replay them. It seems like free maps would definitely be awesome. Glad this game will be getting support then, it just needs to be fixed up a bit and then it will be great.

They'd better fix the biggest problem with the game though. The Artificial Stupidity. That shit makes some solo missions impossible.

The biggest problem would be the oh so many ATI users that can't play the game. I like the AI.

They're on the right track. They might be able to regain the critic respect they deserved in the first place.
