I rented it about two hours ago and I'm really frustrated. Besides the lag, I have no idea what's going on. Everything feels awfully clunky and I don't think the classes are very well defined. Disappointingly, the SMART system is also somewhat clunky and I became tired of sliding around after the first 5 minutes.

Nonetheless, I guess I'll give it another go later.
might wanna check the intro movie. its kinda the tutorial and gives free exp. the button lay out is for you to find out sadly ( check controles under options)

besides the above i msut say its kinda new. the fact that the multiplayer is the campain makes it some what strange for us. although its a good thing. i believe players have to adept to the fact the bought a game with only a campain without stand alone multiplayer instead of a multiplayer with out a stand alone campain ( look at TF2 )

Man forget your various brown and bloom Call/Medal/Gears of Duty/Honor/War. Brink is the best thing to happen to the FPS since they gave melee its own button. I'm also excited because this point-and-go parkour thing is going to become the new 'press A to cover'.

That having been said, I would kill for some kind of dash/quick-roll ability. Sliding sideways just doesn't feel fast enough.

I know right! I can't get enough of it. Loving that parkour thing.

They'd better fix the biggest problem with the game though. The Artificial Stupidity. That shit makes some solo missions impossible.
The biggest problem would be the oh so many ATI users that can't play the game. I like the AI.
Nah, I couldn't care less about them. Hell, even if they could play the game, they still wouldn't be able to finish the campaign because of this.

Good that they're on the ball with the patches. Unusual for companies working with Bethesda "cough" New Vegas "cough".

Speaking of Brink, when will the site staff have their review up?
I don't really think that's Bethesdas fault recently Obsidian(the people that actually made New Vegas)admitted that they had a history of making very buggy games and it was something they where looking to improve.

Bollocks to the lukewarm reviews.

The Americans were the test run, so by the time Europe had it, we had a fully working game.

Great game. Superb. Won't hear a bad word from me.

It's good that they are on the ball with the updates, it is disappointing that I'm mostly having to play against bots at the moment because a lot of the matches lag but even bots can be fun with friends. But the multiplayer games that do have decent connection are a lot of fun.

I don't get the harsh reviews. It's a solid game, it's well balanced and fun. Sure the lag issues in multiplayer are a pain but after the updates fix that then it's going to be great.

I had to reinstall my drivers SO MANY TIME to get it to work with no lag. And get this, multi is smoother than solo on my PC O_O can't wait for the next patch, hopefully it will fix it's issues with ATI GPUs.

Also, hate to be that guy, but I can't help but cringe at the sight of

Bethesda Softworks' hyperactive shooter Brink may have launched to disappointing reviews
In my book, these scores http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/brink/critic-reviews http://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-3/brink http://www.metacritic.com/game/xbox-360/brink sound mixed, average, not "disappointing".

But yeah can't wait for the free DLC, the game is really fun!
You're forgetting, this is the game industry; anything less than 80% is a death knell.

Hey, don't blame me, I don't like it any more than you do. That's just the way it is.

EDIT: For the sake of full disclosure, I haven't actually played Brink myself, but I do think it looks pretty cool, and I generally loathe FPS's.
I long for the day when 50% will actually be recognised as 'average'. I remember some people started freaking out when some websites that actually used a '50% = average' policy gave good games a score of 4/5, 7/10 and such and they actually had to explain that they were using what those numbers actually meant.

In any case, Brink; it has its issues, one of the main ones being that the maps don't take that much advantage of the SMART system and the game balance is kind of wonkey in places (Be More Objective 2 is a massive pain in the ass compared to the other challanges, for example) but I wouldn't actually call it a bad game.

I'm on the 360 and haven't had too much issue with the lag. I've had like 3 cases where lag would spike and interfere with gameplay, but it went away after a few seconds. Loving playing as an Operative, especailly with my caltrops. Funny dropping those on an objective and watch some enemy send me a bunch of points as they shuffle around the area. One guy even dropped from the damage, stopping his attempt to hack.
