I hope this means me and my brothers can now get our Dark Angels, Blood Angels and Space Wolves with all their proper traits instead of generic Space Marines.

just please put the tau back in?
because melee combat is barbaric and there is nothing more calming than the light blue of a plasma burst ripping through a space marine. or orc. or necron. or howling banshee.

I just hope its not overly monetized. I would hate to see GET DAEMON PRINCE NECRAMOUTH FOR 29.99 BUT ONLY 19.99 TODAY ONLY.

I fully support all warhammer races. There are two problems. 1: expansions monetize everything. 2: balancing a multiplayer RTS game is something I would rather commit seppuku than work on.

Since the tau are primarily a ranged army, it becomes a true challenge to balance a game against the whining masses (ehhu, TAU R BROKEN FIX IT WTFFFFF) I'm fine with whatever, because I typically run the single player campaigns.

I know I'm not going to be popular for this but, I hope Tau are in this one.
You kidding? Tons of people here like Tau. Hell, I'm one of them. Tau would be awesome, but Necrons would be scary awesome.
As an Orkz player, I hate Tau with a passion.
It figures. Aside from Tyranids, Orks are the Tau's natural enemy. Though I am surprised there's an Ork player here. Good on you, Orks are really under-appreciated.
We'ze orks iz alwayz unda-precciated. We thinkz everyone else iz just jealous of our gubbinz.

Ork player and proud.

That said I am really looking forward to a new DOW. Base building and army custumization is just what the doctor ordered.

That sounds awesome. Can't wait for this game's release, love me some DoW.

I just hope they aren't too centred on the Space Marines with the army customization...again...
yeah. space marines are nice, but there ARE other armies, and the other armies ARE pretty badass, but i can see how there cant be THAT much diversity with Orks. its basically big gun, bigger gun, or gigantic anti-tank gun. choppa, bigger choppa, slappa choppa, or power claw. bike, truck, tank, bigger truck with a giant roller on it, or deffcopta. (dont get me wrong, i love the orks in Retribution (dawn of war 1, not so much), they are just... simpler.)

i would like to see a return of the tau, and perhaps a campaign that DOESN'T focus exclusively on the imperium. maybe focus on an ork waagh and their path through a number of factions, something about the tau expansion, some crazy ass eldar mission, necron extermination, chaos incursion etc. all of these somewhere that wouldnt warrant an imperium focused campaign, that is clearly written for blood ravens, but has some MINOR alterations to accommodate the other factions (i heard tyranid is a bit different, but i dislike how they play, so i never played past the first couple missions)

Shut it ya Git! only da warboss getz to talk to da humiez. besides, dem tau boyz aint so tuff wen ya get in close wit ya choppaz!

i would know, i play tau. best mele result is i killed 1 khorne berzerker once in a trial game where it was just my 1 fire warrior team vs thousand sons and khorne berzerkers. (killed like 9 of them before they got in mele though, so i guess it balances out. either way, im glad i finally have a goddamn army to play with. couldnt afford anything for the longest time, now i have the battleforce incoming and 2 fire warrior teams to supplement it!)

OT: yeah it will be really nice to have more customization, though i think we must all stress a point so they can catch it and fix it if they are going for it. the game really REALLY has to NOT focus on space marines over everything. retribution got close, allowing the other factions to have playable hero units, and characterize them a bit, but they simplified customization across the board, and the campaign didnt have writing for anyone besides space marines (technically it did, but it was clearly a game about blood ravens).

this would be almost as good. i love me some space wolves. just no more blood ravens. they had 3 games to themselves, 1 they dominated canonically, but otherwise was fairly balanced overall, and i dont know about soulstorm, never played it, and a 5th they dominated despite 5 other factions. AND DONT YOU DARE SUBSTITUTE THEM FOR ULTRAMARINES. THEY ARENT ANY BETTER.

OooooOOOOOOOOOOooooh!!

Sounds very nice! Then again I'm of the opinion that pretty much every game needs more customisation.

Dawn fo War III will apparently be revealed next month at Gamecom in Germany next month.
Dawn fo War III? Fo' rizzle?!

Anywho, customizable units are one of my favorite aspects of DoW II. I just hope there's larger scale combat and more of a focus on destroying your enemies instead of capturing strategic points this time. It just doesn't feel very much like Warhammer 40k when you win a victory, yet the enemy isn't completely annihilated.
which is why i made it a point to destroy EVERYTHING ON THE MAP in every mission. preferably with explosions, which is easiest with space marines, but most fun with mr.nailbrain. ALL HAIL THE NAILBRAIN!

That sounds so cool. Just started playing DoW2 (haven't started Chaos Rising or Retribution) as my computer can't run it. OnLive is just rad! While it is a great game, I have always preferred base build to squad based combat. Fully customizable armies would be amazing. I'm guessing it would just be for multiplayer in which case..........DAMN YOU!!!

The Tau were my favorite army in DoW1. I can't wait for DoW3, I hope it is more like the first one.

The more people that play these games the more races there will be. Not to mention I am hoping more maps.

Unfortunately THQ now have their own Space Marine chapter so you can expect that to be at the forefront. But can you be surprised as they are the Icons for Warhammer 40k.

Anyway, I am sure it will feel like 40k I just hope the game has more replay ability, as the previous one didn't.

Spacewolf and Imperial Guard here (stopped buying miniatures the moment they switched to resin and increased prices (all their competition dropped prices when doing this! GW, charging more and more with every half decade)).

Words don't describe how stoked I am. I just hope they don't Matt Ward some of the customization for different armies
Like that time the Necrons teamed up with the Space Marines to fight off the Tyranids. Maybe we could see a Necron/Marine army.

God dammit Matt Ward, I often wonder how you still have a job.

At least noobies could roll Ultramarines and steamroll every army that hasn't been crunch-raped into godmode, amirite?

Did this SERIOUSLY happen? I mean...There's no way this really could have happened, right? ...Right?

Actually, speaking as someone who loved DoW2 and Chaos Rising, I found Retribution very dissapointing, as it seriously backed off from the squad based tactical play and seemed to just become attack move, the game. I just preferred the hardcore 4 squad insertion team setup to Dawn of War unit spam. Not that excited for the return of base building. But lets see what they do.
