All Ork players are the same. (roll eyes)

secondly i like the fact that relic has been listening to the feed back they got from both video gamers and table top gamers on aspects that were good and aspects that needed fixing or removing. If 3 proves to be as different from 2 as 2 was from one then we might be witnessing the birth of a shining example of evolutionary sequel design.

By fully customizable, they mean we will have to cut out the miniatures from digital plastic frames, clean them, glue them together with whatever wargear is on the frames and then use the Army Painter to paint them.

They wrapped things up fairly well with the last DoW2 expansion,
Angelos becomes the new Chapter Master of the Blood Ravens and they don't get hunted to extinction.
Might be time for someone new to step in to the central role.

Kinda glad I didn't buy DOW II now if they're already releasing a sequel.

Interesting development.

I personally enjoyed the micro orientated approach of DOW2, but the majority seem to want base building, so this is good news for the community :)

The customisation will be a fantastic addition that brings us closer to the true table top expereience. That's what the happy, gullible part of me says.

The cynical, realistic part of me says it's going to be THQ nickel and dimeing everyone for a bunch of shiny swords and silly hats, after seeing the success of Team Fortress 2.

Dawn of Hat 3
Hat of War 3
Hats of Hat hats hat with extra hats 3.

Still, seriously now, I am exited to see how it's gonna be. Hope they don't crank up the graphics to much, my little PC couldn't handle it.

Well, at least I can count on Relic to consistently make games I like!

Words don't describe how stoked I am. I just hope they don't Matt Ward some of the customization for different armies
Like that time the Necrons teamed up with the Space Marines to fight off the Tyranids. Maybe we could see a Necron/Marine army.

God dammit Matt Ward, I often wonder how you still have a job.

At least noobies could roll Ultramarines and steamroll every army that hasn't been crunch-raped into godmode, amirite?
Fuck Matt Ward. He's going to the special hell for what he did to 40k.

I know I'm not going to be popular for this but, I hope Tau are in this one.
You kidding? Tons of people here like Tau. Hell, I'm one of them. Tau would be awesome, but Necrons would be scary awesome.
As an Orkz player, I hate Tau with a passion.
It figures. Aside from Tyranids, Orks are the Tau's natural enemy. Though I am surprised there's an Ork player here. Good on you, Orks are really under-appreciated.
Screw Orkz, screw commie-tau, eldar are wimps, space marines are overrated and necron are boring... It's all about the IMPERIAL FETHING GUARD!

If they have marines they could at least have some actual difference in the marine chapters; so that Dark Angels, Space Wolves, Black Templars etc... play a different to all main codex chapters (as DA, SW and BT both have their own codex's)

Despite my liking for the Dawn of War games;I feel that a change of pace could be in oder. I propose instead that a game based on one the less well know GW such as Rogue Trader, Dark Herasay, Necromunda etc... is made.

I loved DoW I and most of its addons, DoW II was nice and refreshing and I actually played it more than Stracraft 2.
Gonna look forward to what they do in DoW III.

Btw would like to see the Tau's, too - didn't like the Tyranides that much.

Dawn fo War III? Fo' rizzle?!

Anywho, customizable units are one of my favorite aspects of DoW II. I just hope there's larger scale combat and more of a focus on destroying your enemies instead of capturing strategic points this time. It just doesn't feel very much like Warhammer 40k when you win a victory, yet the enemy isn't completely annihilated.
I guess you never played the new rules for the tabletop version. Victory points through objectives.

The more people that play these games the more races there will be. Not to mention I am hoping more maps.

Unfortunately THQ now have their own Space Marine chapter so you can expect that to be at the forefront. But can you be surprised as they are the Icons for Warhammer 40k.

Anyway, I am sure it will feel like 40k I just hope the game has more replay ability, as the previous one didn't.

Spacewolf and Imperial Guard here (stopped buying miniatures the moment they switched to resin and increased prices (all their competition dropped prices when doing this! GW, charging more and more with every half decade)).
That's plastic. Forge World is the resin pieces. Those bastards can suck up a lot of paint.

You are correct. I've actually never played the tabletop game at all (it's just not something I'm interested in). I didn't know about that victory condition.

I guess I'm imagining battles as they're often depicted in the novels, with planet-spanning meat grinder conflagrations.

YAY!
Seriously, Dawn Of War 2 was no where near as fun as Dawn Of War 1 due to the limited creativity in army building. Base-building (while not exactly in keeping with tabletop gameplay) is a must for this series.

All of my money, you just have to take ALL of it don't you?
They won't stop until we're in the poorhouse, sitting in a corner and waiting for a ladleful of cheap canned soup while playing Dawn of War games on a stolen laptop.

Actually, speaking as someone who loved DoW2 and Chaos Rising, I found Retribution very dissapointing, as it seriously backed off from the squad based tactical play and seemed to just become attack move, the game. I just preferred the hardcore 4 squad insertion team setup to Dawn of War unit spam. Not that excited for the return of base building. But lets see what they do.
I have to agree with you there, I really don't like base building. I believe strategy games should be about the strategic use of units and not merely races to see who can build the most units the quickest. Hopefully Relic will do base building in a way that's not just all about maximizing your economy and performing a ridiculous amount of actions per minute. While Retribution was a total letdown it still seems like Relic is willing to innovate in a significant manner. I'm cautiously optimistic about this Dawn of War III, the customization options do sound appealing.

"Looking at what we had real success with with Dawn of War II - Retribution, with the DLC, and with customisation and building their armies and collecting being a big part of what 40k fans really love, we want to make that a big part of DOW3."
Wat?

I can't believe I'm the first one to mention that! Though it was rather cleverly disguised through a line break. Touchè.

A bit tired while writing, were we?

Now, I think I should post OT too but I can't really say anything since I haven't played the predecessors yet. But I like that it will be presented at GamesCom, there's a good chance I'll be there this year again.

This sounds like a good idea, as long as it's for all armies and not just for space marines...Again...

A feature I'm longing for is scenario editor. I'm sure fans would love to recreate battles from the lore and building my own fortress with anything I want is hugely appealing. What I'd like to see is very large scale battles. Much bigger then in the previous games. In DOW 1 I think you could get about 100 guys and half a dozen vehicles on average and DOW 2 had much less then that. I'd love to see 1000 guys on each team, bullets and explosions flying everywhere, vehicles mowing dozens of guys down at a time, that type of thing :)
