Halo 2 was dominated by BR and Brute Shots

Halo 3 wasn't bad nor good just really easy to bug and ruin a game with dual maulers or corner camping a shotgun.

Nothing like that was in Halo 1, tl;dr - HALO 1 was the best and always will be.
Although I agree Halo 2 was unbalanced with the BR and Brute Shots, I disagree with the maulers and shotguns ruining the game in Halo 3. The dual maulers were useless unless they didn't see you coming or they walked in front of you and didn't see you (aka camping). But even then, all it takes to negate that is a well lobbed grenade before you walk in and expecting the corner camping asshole. Though I will admit the shotgun was very effective, it took some real skill to use it effectively outside of camping or holding up in the corner(in the open or during a responsive firefight when they shoot you first)

I rather think Halo 1 was the most unbalanced because of the pistols, it made almost every other weapon useless. No one ever needed to use anything else, there was no variety in weapon usage. Although I loved that magnum, everyone else did too, it was simply too good of a gun. I mean C'mon, 3 head shots and you're down? 6 and even an over-shield couldn't protect you? If you're good you can take a guy down in just under 3 seconds, 5 if he had an over-shield

And as for being the buggiest, that would be Halo 2. Or do you not remember all the assholes that would super-jump to safety and take the sniper with them? Or what about the BXR bastards (admittedly I was one of those jerks too)? Or the super BR shot that unloaded 4 full bursts in one shot?

Personally, I don't think Halo 1 was the best multiplayer, Although I would claim it was the most influential in defining what FPS multiplayer is supposed to be like for the last generation. If you could recall that any FPS that came after Halo always had its game play mechanics explained as it was "just like Halo"? Well, that was true until COD gained popularity, and then the next generation of shooters followed the COD mechanics.

I would say that most Halo 3 or Halo 2 haters that place Halo 1 as the bast of the trilogy just really miss the overpowered magnum. I know I miss that lovable, overpowered bastard.

- There are good aliens. Some of these have lightsabers... I think?
- Humans are the good guys (Why is that? Are we really that innocent? Who said we could-OOMPH! Hey, can't we-ARRGH)
- There's a blue girl who lives inside Master Chief's head (?)
- The aliens... want... something because.... uhh... some sort of alien religion... something. Also, they don't like Master Chief, for some reason.
- Master Chief gets stuck in a broken space ship somewhere in the middle of freaking nowhere with the blue girl hanging around to poke on him if anyone comes around
- "Spartans" is Halo-language for "space marine with a nice shield that regenerates if you duck out of combat for a bit". There are really few of these (just Master Chief?)
I don't mean to make fun of you or anything but this provided me with several moments worth of lulz. This is the sort of thing that on objective outsider with no previous info can do, tell it like they see it. I would answer your questions but there's too much cannon to go through. I mean 4 other games, soon to be 5 others (Halo: 1,2,Wars,ODST, and Reach), books, graphic novel, and anime (can't remember what else there was that was actually canon)

P.S. LOL once more.

BS. You can quote me on that one. This will NOT be the last one. They have said this before.
The Truth:

Halo 3 - last game in the story arch
Halo 3: ODST - last Halo 3 content
Halo: Reach - no more Halo games are being planned at Bungie

Oh, yeah, it was meant to be sort of a "here are things I saw while playing the game, while not getting the story, and I can't really be arsed to get it, because I feel there are games with a story I care much more about"

See it more as collection of fun things seen in a stupid way (or stupid things seen in a fun way)

I guarantee that this won't be the "last Halo game". They've developed too much of a Halo Franchise that it's too easy for them to suck the teat of it until it's dry +1.

i think Bungiee are one of the only decent developers out their they just seem really down to earth without fucking up the cannon to much, and at least they apologize o_O

also the armour thing will no way be the same as the perk system, it just replaces the dotted active camouflage and oversheild around the map to make it portable on your suit =)

The game will suck large animal testicles and Bungie will make a new Halo game to try and hit the jackpot again.

The game will copy the Modern Warfare series and in turn be awesome and Bungie will make a new Halo game to feed off of the newfound hope for the Halo series.
new found hope? this game is probably the most popular series of games, it never strafes to far from the story (with the exception of Halo Wars), it's more recognised than COD let me tell you

and Bungiee will not go down that road my good friend, they are not blood sucking like Activison and Treyarch

Bungie have gone down hill after halo 1.
Not really but Halo Reach comes before Halo 1 anyway.
It comes before halo 1 but doesn't mean they've not gone down hill after making halo 1, halo 1 had perfect balance, yeah the most imbalanced weapon was the pistol but EVERYONE started with it.

Halo 2 was dominated by BR and Brute Shots

Halo 3 wasn't bad nor good just really easy to bug and ruin a game with dual maulers or corner camping a shotgun.

Nothing like that was in Halo 1, tl;dr - HALO 1 was the best and always will be.
halo combat evolved wasn't very balanced (the needler, plasma pistol and rocket launcher come to mind) although it was very fun

Halo 2 was not dominated by Brute Shots and BR's, it wasn't dominated by any weapon, considering their was a huge variety of weapons and some people couldn't use them all very well, instead chose the weapons they felt comfortable with.

with Halo 3 its quite simple to kill campers, plasma grenade shuts them up very nicely, plus their are energy drainers and bubble shields to avoid them as well =P

Whilst I will agree that Halo 3's multiplayer was not that great I feel that it was still the most fun. If you ever played any good custom games (Cat & Mouse, Duck Hunt, Jenga, Conquest, etc with a large group of friends then you would see what I mean.

I really hope that Reach still includes a wide variety of options for custom games. The forge editor is also an essential.
Custom maps and game types are stupid, most of the time it's just 13 year old kids screaming ZOMBIE ZOMBIE AHHHH!!!!.

As for forge, it's just a place to make pictures of boobs... I bet more people have made forge-porn than there are forge maps.
Don't be such a cynic, playing in a custom made forge map can be really great and I've never encountered said "porn maps", it's not LBP, it takes patience and skill to do anything in forge. (AKA, it's a bit tricky with the analogue.)

I'm really excited, but it isn't like perks from MW2 at all, please don't say that, sprinting, camo, etc are not perks, there power ups, stuff halo had before CoD had perks.

But yes, I love this game, I'm just wondering what piece of armour affects armour-abilities, because in the viddoc I noticed he was switching up the helmet, things on the helmet, armour, things on the armour, and shoulders. Also, I checked the concept art for the characters and it looks amazing, Oh God, I love bungie artists...ILU BUNGIEEEE. <333
Halo didn't have a camo or sprinting before COD the only thing it has was a pistol with an invisible scope and COD doesn't have that.

I'm no COD fan, but seriously... you're a terrible fanboy.

More recognized than CoD you say. That must be why Modern Warfare 2 made $550 million in the first five days of being released (and that's just in America) and has become the best selling game ever created. Do you remember perhaps when Bungie said that Halo 3 would be the last Halo game? If anything, Bungie's the bloodsucker. Activision and Treyarch, Treyarch isn't even the big CoD guy here I believe you mean Infinity Ward, the guys who made the GOOD CoD games. And even if they were blood sucking, their games are still amazing. Halo: CE was good. Halo 2 was amazing. Halo 3 was crap. ODST was meh. and Reach looks to have promise, but will probably not save Halo from the plague of prequels and sequels Bungie has been throwing at us.

EDIT: I have more interesting tidbits, MW2 made almost as much in the first day of launch (about 20 million less) as Halo 3 did in the week of it's first launch.

Wonder how cheap I could find ODST now... I really want in on this beta, but ODST is definitely not a game I'm interested in at all.
Probably $30(USD) and up.
This is the only reason I want to get ODST as well. I really have on interest in it at all. I might wait until Halo: Reach, but I'm impatient.

As for Halo: Reach, I'm excited about the game. It looks real good - and different - but I'm going to keep my expectations at the same level that I did for Halo 3; not very high, but not low.

Yea, that was my problem. After playing 3 years of Halo 2 competitively as a semi-pro, I had huge expectations for Halo 3. It was a good game, but they took several steps backwards in my opinion. I'm keeping my expectations low for Halo Reach so as not to let myself down.

I really dont like the idea of a perks system in a Halo game.

Plus does this mean we will NEVER find out what happened to the Chief at the end of Halo 3?
The chief got launched into space he's presumed dead. But everyone knows he's not
I always just assumed that the ending was somewhat symbolic: Since Master Chief was created for war, and was essentially a weapon, then when the war was over he had no more purpose. So, when he died it was kind of a metaphor for a laying down of arms, if you will.

However I know that I'm reading too much into it it, and that Bungie or their fans could never wrap their heads around any form of story depth.

WHAT? you mean all this time has been wasted?!
How do you think I feel then?!

OT: I like the sounds of it but will be waiting for a while to pick it up.
I'll probably get it for Christmas or something. But it sounds tempting. Very tempting.

Well, judging from what I hear, Bungie is going back to Halo 1 gameplay, so it should be a lot better. I have doubts over whether this will be the last Halo game EVER, the series is just too popular to die.

Although what you say holds some truth to it, that only extends as far as the average skilled player. In the hands of someone good (aka skiz'll), the BR dominates, and if you can't get one, you'll be staked before you can say, "FFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUU-" Although I can't complain I was also one of those that perfect 4-shot around 80% of the time, although I did feel bad every now and then, especially when my team would shut people out or just dominate with the damn BR.

This.

One of the elementary strategies against campers. Hell even a noob will eventually figure out that grenade spamming works against campers.

Halo did have camo before COD, if you don't remember it was a pick-up that resembled a blue, translucent triangle with a blue sphere in the middle of it. Sprinting has never been in a halo game, but I could see potential uses for it aside from the obvious running fast (strategically I'm thinking).

The fact that MW2 made more money recently does not diminish the fact that Halo is still more recognized than COD. Any non gamer will always recognize the name "Halo", the same can not be said of COD. I believe that given time, COD will be as recognized a name as Halo. Especially since we all know Activision and Microsoft will undoubtedly keep milking their cash cows.

A game has to be pretty recognized to be the most popular game on the planet. That's common sense there.

I never said COD wasn't popular but don't forget Halo is also just as massively popular. But, popularity is not the same as recognition. You can argue what game is more popular right now or which game is better, that's what debate is for. But that is not the point I was trying to make. There is overlap in the people that recognize Halo and those that recognize COD. And more often than not, non gamers will still recognize Halo over COD. If you believe that overall recognition only accounts for gamers, something most people here are keen on forgetting, you are sorely mistaken. Overall recognition includes those that have never touched a controller, parents, and the general non-gamer.
