Let me guess... you were an N64 man?

:D
I ended up with both :p

And the Super Smash Bros. "So Happy Together" is a WAY better ad than any of those bizarre Sony ones.

First they start these commercials and then their sales sky rocket from the price decrease. Looks like Sony is starting to go somewhere again.

You made a lot of us smile. :D
no he didn't actually.

guess what tough guy? they had backwards compatibility for quite a while. but cheap kids like you only wanted to ***** about how expensive it was. wahhhhhhhhhhhh!

so they take it out and drop the price. what now? no backwards compatibility!!! WAHHHHHHH!

STFU already. want backwards compatibility? buy a ps2, or a ps3 that does it or just simply shut up already.

crybaby wankers.

UUUUUUHHHHHHmmmm... First off, Fanboy.. second, I didn't buy the PS3 because it sucks; no good games, and I already have a blu-ray player. Third, the comment made us smile, nothing more, it was an accurate observation that the commercial was wrong about it doing everything. Fourth, my computer is way better. Finally, you need to relax about your system that you spent WAY too much money on. Even at 300$ I would not buy one of these piles of black garbage, not including the 65$ for the crappy games. Take it down to $200 and I would consider buying it. It is still too expensive for not much fun; 1 truly original title, Little Big Planet, that's it...

Edit: Also, I am not cheap and I have kids. I own and build computers because they are worth my money... Consoles are all cheap imitations of computers that irk me by taking away developers that could be coming up with new and innovative games on a real platform!
First that comment has been made more times than I'd like to count; it's hardly original (read any PS3 commerical-thread). Second, why would you possibly buy a Blu-ray player when at the same price you can get one that plays games? And no good games? Have you by chance PLAYED all the games? Fuck I highly doubt it. Evidently you've never even bothered to look at some reviews.

And I love how you're complaining about costs of the PS3 and it's games. $65? Maybe for MW2 the day it comes out, but most games you can buy on Amazon for $20-$40 tops; cheaper if you want to rent. Of course, while we're on the topic of price, let's add up how much a good gaming computer costs... AT LEAST $1,000 which would buy you a 360, a PS3, and a dozen or so games. And no I won't believe any of the bullshit about you "building your own" for less, because in the unlikely case you did I really doubt it's up to par with a good gaming computer.

Wow because you're obviously not a fanboy. /Sarcasm

oh, it was definitely going with "I'll sleep with your wife." angle.

the banter at the end of the commercial right before the dog makes an appearance pretty much sum it up. "Jenny, what are you do---" and it cuts him off and the guy's like "yeah... your wife likes dogs doesn't she.. woof! heheh!"

Wow beacuse you're obviously not a fanboy.
I am not a fanboy; I am an Enthusiast. Computers are a lifestyle; I work, play, program, and pay my bills with them. And yes I did spent roughly $5000 on my last machine but that machine has reimbursed me 2-3 fold what I put in. Not to mention it does a hell of a lot more than just games, and yes I do ALWAYS build my own rigs, apart from my blade servers, because I build them better. I build them for everyone I know in fact. I can build a PS3 equiv machine for roughly 50-100$ due to having that much spare hardware laying around, alls I would need is a mobo. I am well aware of what is on the PS3, and the only thing worth getting one for is little big planet. Apart from that they are all second-rate games or not my cut of tea anyways, and I had a blu-ray player before the PS3 existed.

I wasn't complaining about the pricepoint, I was complaining about the value to price. None of the PS3 games are worth 65$ no matter how you put it. They aren't worth 45$ either. They are one time plays that get boring half-way through. Sorry I will stick with my 100% backwards compatible PC with my new-16 year old games. You can keep your PS3 that does "everything" that is not useful.

Other random tidbit.. I can build a gaming computer for less than 1000$ with OS that is capable of 1080p on all games. It is easy.. go AMD and things get cheap really fast, but the ceiling is a lot lower on them.

I don't know if I'd always say "amazing [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/94287-A-Look-Back-at-Sonys-Bizarre-PS3-Advertising]"...
Sony have always had cool, ground-breaking ads imo. They've always emphasised design & image over straightforward factual information (an especially brave move in the 90s when games consoles were still considered toys). This new ad is quite funny, and it'll probably generate a few extra sales, but it's nothing compared to the likes of Mental Wealth, Double Life or the exploding Rubik's cube. They might seem pretentious or ridiculous to some people but I think they're appreciated by the majority of potential consumers, even if only on a subconscious level. In your article you say "Sony's recent PS3 commercials are straightforward, clever, and actually sell you the product", but I think great adverts do much more than that.
I don't find any of those cool, ground-breaking, or particularly great. They're just strange and vaguely uncomfortable.
That's a bit extreme, don't you think? Uncomfortable? Really? Wow. No offense, but it sounds like you could use a little relaxation and stress relief.
Look at the penis-thumb and the angry russian man ranting in the tub. Those are uncomfortable :p

You ruin your entire argument by 'claiming' the system only has 1 good game. It certainly makes you appear and come across as a big-time PC elitist. Don't get me wrong, I love my PC, and put quite a bit of money into building it myself. However, even I'm not blinded by it's glory to keep me from playing some damn fine Sony exclusives that'll never hit PC.

It's quite obvious that given the capital, you can put together a PC that outperforms the Wii, PS3 and 360 combined, the fact is, not everyone has that kind of expendable income. Additionally, for $300, you most certainly could not build a PC that outperforms the PS3 or 360. And the cost is $300, not with parts you have lying around, because how many people really have that kind of excess hardware laying about (my father, brother, myself and you aside). It's most certainly not representative of the mainstream public.

In closing, yes, I'll keep my PS3 (that does everything, because it's a launch 60g), and I'll keep my gaming rig and play every game that comes out.
I thought I made it clear that it had only 1 good game that I was interested in and that that was the reason most of us who have not and will not buy one, but apparently not. And that is not excess cash, I use my computers for working. It is my income source. I do not expect most to have a 5k rig. The reason I was set off was because of you telling me to stop crying. Also, they took away backwards compatability long before the slim.

Finally, all games come to PC eventually, be it by emulation or port, it always makes it. When that time comes I will play some of the games, probably not many.. but I am sure I will play one or 2. The main reason I got into this is I don't like PS3 fanboys just like I didn't like XBOX fanboys. PS2 and XBOX 360 fanboys never bothered me because they were/are not so insistent on their system being best because it was/is; they don't ruin a good laugh.

It only does everything, apart from backwards compatibility, being easy for developers, having a decent dashboard...

OK, I will admit, if my X360 dies within the next fortnight, I will buy a slim.

Lol fantastic, these new ads seem to have this aloof humour about them that I find endearing. It's nice to see that even a multi-million dollar corporation like Sony can have a sense of humour.

Check back a few bud, I never said anything about crying, that was someone else. And seriously, what you like is subject to your opinion, you said (and I quote) "only thing worth getting one for is little big planet. Apart from that they are all second-rate games or not my cut of tea anyways, and I had a blu-ray player before the PS3 existed"

This infers that somehow your opinion is written by the hand of . However, you attempt to whitewash it with 'Or not my cup of tea anyways'. It's merely a thinly veiled fanboy argument, Sir. And one most people can see right through.

Secondly, SCEA games, are Sony property, and therefore never hit PC _legally_. Additionally, emulation for PS games is always terrible, extremely so (primarily because the emulators are hack jobs, as are the ROM's). So what it sounds like is while you have this exorbitant excess income, you really couldn't care less about pirating games from every system. Well good for you. I actually pay for the games I play.

I don't really care who you do or don't like, I'm not here to find that out. However, this is a PS3-centric article, and well, you probably don't need a slide-rule to realize people who like the PS3, are going to be commenting on it.

Buy it or don't, I don't really think anyone cares if you do. But, claiming you know what quality is, and is not....and then stating that oh they'll just come out for PC years later when I can get them for free, yeah, that's class right there.
ROFL!!!! Sorry for the misunderstanding, I thought you were the same guy as Irishhoodlum that start this argument... lol.. Sorry for being so curt. By the time I will play them it will be abandonware.. aka free to whoever wants it, just like a lot of old games; there will be no piracy involved. Also, I do not have excess. I in fact just scrape by, as I said I use my computers for work mainly and play second. Just like a truck driver shells out big bucks for a good truck, I shell out big bucks for my computers. As a result my computer pays for itself 2 and 3 fold. Finally, I didn't insult PS3 until after the Irishhoodlum went all fanboy on me. Look back through the string... lol I need more coffee... I still can't believe I missed the person switch...

But since this all started over me and why I personally will never buy a PS3 my opinion is important as this discussion is about my choice to not buy one, and there are a lot of people who think exactly like I do, and I am sure there are just as many that think like you do.

And as I have said before, there is no such thing as a PC fanboy, they are only elitist and enthusiasts. I am a PC enthusiast as I own a Wii, a SNES, an NES, and a few other random consoles. Not to mention up until about 2 weeks ago I owned a 360... it got boring so I got rid of it.
