In terms of gameplay, this game does sound like fun. Though I can't say it sets itself far enough away from the recent Empire: Total War to warrant calling this a full sequel. In fact, the concept behind a "story driven" Total War, along with other similarities, sounds alot like the Alexander the Great expansion for Rome: Total War. If I recall correctly, the pricing for this title has not been announced. If the pricing is that of a standard PC game and not reduced (expansion/DLC), I don't think I'll bite. I'd much rather see a Shogun 2 or a fantasy/sci-fi spinoff.

It'll be good, but I'm still pissed off at CA for not fixing the issue with the text scrambling that affected me and also a lot of other people.

They've released so many updates, but none of them have fixed the bug.

I Will summarize my feelings as follows
1) I like Empire a lot, even though it's buggy
2) This looks exactly like empire but something you would expect as an expansion
3) The name is really stupid
4) Not that excited

I wish this was a proper expansion, that would let you carry on into the 1800's in the campaign, with all the new units from the French campaign, for the French and the other countries.

It should be integrated into the main game, rather than a "new" game, that they will probably charge a full price for :(

Edit: I wish they would stop updating the graphics too. It makes me unhappy to look at all the sexeh screenies and realise my PC will never handle it. :p

I really hoped this was a joke when I saw the thread title. Sadly, I was mistaken. After the epic fail that was Empire, I'm going to wait a month and read the official forums to see how many people complain about the game. Even if there aren't any problems, muskets and cannons bore me. Make Rome 2:Total War already!.
Hope not. Either way CA in an interview some years ago after ME2 said that the way to go is forward and not back. Don't expect Rome 2 in the near future.

I just hope they don't price it full game price.
I'd buy it if it was cheaper, at most $30.
Or maybe STEAM will have some pre-order bonus. Discount or a free game. Either way full priced game for something that fits into the category of expansion is pushing. Even L4D2 comes packed with more stuff.

I have yet to pay a total war game due to my crappy graphics card but, I may have a new better computer by then and if I do I will probably get this. The trailer was awesome.
You can run the older Total War games on just about any computer. Shogun:Total War, Rome:Total War, Medieval:Total War have lower requirements then Empire. Shogun especially can be run on just about any machine. Plus they are dirt cheap nowadays and are still solid games. In fact I like their turn based portions better then Empire but thats just my opinion.

OT: I don't quite know how to feel about this. Wouldn't this be better served as an expansion to Empire? It just feels wierd that the entire game will be based around about 2 decades of history...Ugh this line right here makes me even more unsure about this "Napoleon is essentially the culmination of what we wanted to do with Empire, given the time to take it further." Then why was Empire so rushed??? Why not release this as an xpac to Empires and fix your mistakes there?

IDK while the preview makes the game look good I'm just kind of disappointed that another full game is being devoted to something so similar to what Empires already did. Diversity is one of the things that kept Total War games to fresh.
