The only news here is that people consider death threats on the internet to be worth anything anymore. Sure, they're immature fuckwits, but death threats are the new dirty look. It's not like anyone is actually going to carry it out.

*Sigh* how come the most obnoxious immature ones make the most noise?
Because the mature gamers are content to bury their heads in the sand and give bullshit excuses like "This is the Internet" or "Free Speech hurr durr"

Instead of taking the route of being louder by shouting "SHUT UP" to these obnoxious asswipes.
How is it burying one's head in the sand, or a bullshit excuse, to suggest that they can say whatever they want? And more importantly, how are the two approaches mutually exclusive? Shouting "shut up" is the just response to someone saying something stupid, even for people who will defend that peron's right to say stupid things, that's why free speech works. People can say whatever they want, then they get judged and responded to by other people saying whatever they want. Saying that you support someone's right to make a death threat doesn't mean you don't think they're idiots for doing so, and it certainly doesn't mean you don't tell them they're idiots whenever you see it.

They're just lucky that the Treyarch guys are being so chill about it. Still though, it would be nice if they'd just learn to chill out themselves. It's a video game, and a multiplayer one at that. Be angry at the players, not the developers.
Treyarch probably isn't worried because he knows those quick scoping noobs can't hit anything without aim assist. >.>

But seriously, it's nice that they're simply saying "not cool" and their attitude really should be followed.

Wait, these idiots are getting angry because of tiny, TINY changes to a few weapons, we're talking fractions of a second, I can't wrap my head around this, really, I can't. Death threats, oy... there is no excuse that can justify it. These are the idiots that give gamers a bad name.

I'd bang my head onto my desk at the stupidity, but it's cedar and I don't want to damage it.

I think that the CoD community may be too far gone for ANYTHING to work at pulling this kind of stuff back. I mean GabeN and the Riot devs don't even get death threats from the notorious MOBA community.
I'm pretty sure they do. Chances are that they just stopped caring a long time ago.

I've been annoyed by patches and changes to gameplay in my MMOs but I've never been motivated to send out death threats. I'm barely motivated enough to complain about it in trade chat.

Seriously...and I thought I had no life because I've poured years of it into playing RPGs. Stuff like this just fuels the arguments "Games Cause Violence."

Increasing reload time by a tenth of a second gets people sending death threats? Seriously? It's such a short period of time, I'm surprised anyone noticed.
They won't have. The tweets were in response to him posting the patch adjustments for people to see.

More like "games cause impotent threats of violence."

Well considering the story about that LoL player who ended up in jail for a few months because of a stupid joke about violence he made, I'd imagine the outside world takes these threats rather seriously.

I really, really, REALLY wish there was a way to force these people to use their gamer-tag or other identification when responding, so that these fucks would get banned on spot.
Honestly, I know the idea of mandatory RealID on forums when it came to World of Warcraft had issues, but I wish something similar could be put in place.
I don't want them to go to jail (even though they are making death-threats), I want their toy taken away from them, and for them to be treated like the spoiled little shits they are.

Oh no! Death threats on the internet! Say it isn't so!

People need to grow a spine. And news outlets need to stop grabbing on to shit like this.
..You think it's alright to threaten peoples lives and harass them because 'they are still going through puberty'?

That was a threat to shoot up a school, with graphic description, right in the wake of a major shooting in a school, with "lol" later appended. It was a sore spot to say the least. People don't really care about game devs or entertainers in the same way.

I... wow. Not only does it make me a little ashamed to call myself a gamer, but a human being, too. I don't want to even be considered the same species as people like that.

I really do hope things like this get taken seriously and people who threaten from behind the 'safety' of a screen get arrested. If I went up to someone in person and said I'd kill them and their family, I'd get arrested. Those people should be.

Not acceptable.

Perhaps, but whenever the argument over games causing violence comes up, those that say it does can still easily point to stuff like this. We know it's BS, and you're right: they are "impotent threats of violence." But that still leaves the fact that it gives the opposition more ammunition for their arguments, that's all my point was.

You'd be surprised (or maybe not) at how much gets excused by the internet because it's the internet. Apparently, we're all expected to act like sociopathic man-children, so it's okay when we do.

That's just wrong, but the worst part is that there have been worse patches than this one, yet this patch caused death threats.

Considering the fact that lag compensation and the massive amounts of chest high walls kind have nullified reload speeds this is pretty pathetic.

There's no "perhaps." The conversation has never shifted this way, and likely won't. Why?

The same reason people would rather ***** about Obama being a Muslim or foreigner. The alternative isn't as fantastic, being at least partially grounded in reality.
