Ho I see what their doing. Their using the book as an example of how not to write a book... yeah that's it.

That's been a staple of coming-of-age novels since Jane Eyre or Wuthering Heights - and is done far better in them. Twilight even references them as if to say it belongs on the same library shelf.
Yes but the difference is... Emily Bronte could write Stephenie Meyers can't

When I heard the phrase "Worthy of Analysis", I thought some "specialists" in the matter would disect this shit up and figure out why it's so popular(I have a few theories of my own but whatever), I had no idea they thought that by "Worthy of Analysis" they meant "Shove this shit to children's obligatory learning material". And by being in school I know very well that "a student's annalysis" must consist entierly of praise and worship to the book and writer, with opinions like "I can prove this is complete and utter tripe" beeing at least sanctioned.

I'm glad they're doing this, not because I like Twilight but maybe then we can get some hard evidence as to why this book doesn't deserve to be called Literature, or even hold a spot in Pop Culture.

and this is why i'm glad i never went to cambridge.
holy hell everyone's gone bum head retarded?

they need to do a study to see why this shit is so popular?
just think back to YOUR time and remember why YOU liked star wars, Jurassic park, cowboy flicks, king kong (ok, maybe the public for this one is already dead), steven segal etc.

while i myself LOATHE these shitty movies/book that are coming out today, i can understand why they'd be popular. i was into dbz and pokemon as a kid, and every adult was scratching their heads and trying to exorcise it as well.

just be thankful it's a phase and everything that is too popular (except star wars of course, this thing is incredibly undying in popularity) dies out after a few years.

then you'll have smth else that comes out that we can all complain about...like avatar and transformers. enjoy. :)

So long as no one is forced to read the books.

Such a fate would be worse than death.
MY CLASS HAS TO!!!!
my only thought is fuck. FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK! and there is no other option. and I go to a boys only school. and we were pissed off. and our teacher agreed, but she couldnt change it.
Oh wow, that sucks. I feel sorry for you.

I remember when someone told me to read the first one.
After reading it, I felt a sadness and rage I haven't felt since, well ever.

Not because the book touched me emotionally, but because it was just awful, just awful.

People who like Twilight aren't in university....
speaking as a university student with name Edward, this isn't that true.
sure, they aren't as rabid fans as middle aged and pre-teens, but i know of a fair number whom have enjoyed the series.
unfortunately.

though, with some sobering thoughts after my page 1 "THIS IS MADNESS",(now quoted 10times!) i realize that it's analysis could be amusing, as how in how this piece of shit is popular.
but only on a post-secondary school level, and even then should not be forced.

this really isn't total maddness

After I read the title I said "come on it can't be that bad; it certainly has to do something with some kind of a joke"
Then I read the first sentence. [HEADING=2]WHAT THE FIERY HELL!!!![/HEADING]
Now I have a reason not believe Cambridge trustworthy. GOD! And they gave me and English Diploma! Now it's worthless D:

I'll tell you why! Because we(the part of society that what's to make money at all costs) have been feeding these children crap! Nice and fancy coloured crap, but still.

and whether, as researchers and teachers, we can offer them something that addresses the same needs but also deals with these themes in a critical and ethical way."
This can be translated as :"What can we do to totally turn them into mindless consuming zombies?" or it may be actual care for the younglings.

To quote Arnold J. Rimmer,

"I hate everything."

Here is my option.

GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH

(Several minutes of sobbing)

That is all.
