I called it! I so called this as soon as she popped up on screen and lit that cigarette, I knew some group would be idiotic enough to complain about something that insignificant. People are stupid, I stopped being surprised long ago.
No kidding. While I didn't catch the reference to gaming, I certainly didn't see her character's introduction and think to myself "That's the person I wanna be". If anything, you're supposed to start-out the movie kinda hating her. She pops out of the little pod, demands a smoke, insults the only character we really know so far, then runs off to go ***** at someone else. You warm-up to her character later on in the movie, but only in the "I could see getting along with her now that she isn't such a *****" way, certainly not in the "I wanna be like her" way.Xvito said:Those anti-smoking folks seem almost as intelligent as P.E.T.A...

Don't blame us because you don't have the balls to tell the anti-smoking groups that teens should be smart enough to make their own judgements and not copy a cfictional character.
I bet the temptation was high for him to add "They can put that in their pipe and smoke it!"Cameron's final statement says it all. Smoking "is a filthy habit which I don't support, and neither, I believe, does Avatar."
Thirdly, film it. Put it on Youtube. That will be quite the spectacle.WrongSprite said:If anyone goes out and starts smoking purely because of that film, I will;
Firstly, eat my own face.
and secondly, thrash them to within an inch of their lives.
Yup, this.Sulu said:I think the anti-smoking groups just commented on Avatar because of its huge success and they want to try and steal some of the limelight and money.
