I think a more important question is who will play Baird?
You may think I'm crazy for saying this but I think Owen Wilson would be good for Baird.
You know...I could actually see that. Just give him some 'roids, bulk him up a bit, and he's perfect.

God yes, if only so I get to see him shot in the head.

You know... I could get behind Mickey Rourke as Marcus Fenix. My only worry is that the movie (through no fault of his own) would suck so bad that it would flush his The Wrestler comeback right down the drain.

Promise me that good ol' Shia The Beef gets a 7.62mm facelift and I'll buy five tickets.

The Rock? Seriously? I barely care for this adaptation as it is, but if they're going to dump all over it by giving the leading role to him...
Remember Doom, people. Doom.

dooooooom
Doom was ruined by shitty writing, and complete disregard for the source material. The acting by pretty much everyone was superb, given what they had to work with.

I just had a revelation.

You want a Marcus Fenix? Two Words: Sam Elliott [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QZBbQm1avEY].

I think a Gears film is a terrible idea.

Films of games are almost always terrible.
Unless they have The Rock in them !

Just look at Doom

Here's a brainstorm. What about Michael Ironside (the voice of Sam Fisher)? Strikes me as a reasonably good match.

I've always thought of Cole as Michael Clark Duncan. The face is a bit off, but he's just huge enough to pull it off.

I think Vin Deisel would be the best, by far. In fact, let me run this down now.

Marcus Fenix - Vin Deisel
No. I really don't see any resemblance between Vin and Marcus, and besides, Vin is only good for spouting one liners, and I don't recall hearing many in Gears. Maybe I just have a bad memory.
The things working in Vin's favour are that he has enough bass in his voice and he's built. He'd need to spend a bit of time in makeup to look like Marcus though.
I admit his voice is low enough, but it doesn't really sound the same, and he would have to spend a looong time in makeup before he looked anything like Marcus. I say Mickey Rourke or Ron Perlman.
Both are two old and not action stars.

This is going to be an action film. No doubt about it.

It's a shame that they cant just run auditions for this, it seems that casting unknowns with amazing talent creates a better film.

Unfortunately, without a famous face, people become less interested and the sponsers lose faith.

Goddamn you movie industry.

Hellboy has a fair amount of action in it, as does Sin City, especially Mickey Rourke's part. I don't think it's a problem.

Ryan Renolds has to be Baird; it's a perfect fit.
This. If this happens, I can't even explain how happy I would be.

I don't see why Lester Speight can't be Terrible Terry Tate... I mean Augustus Cole. They're practically the same character.
Also an awesome choice. I mean, he's already huge, he already has the voice (considering he voiced Cole); the only thing that he'd have to sell me on is seeing him in an action scene, and I'm sure they could make it work.

And, really, those are the only two people I care about. Marcus, Dom, Carmine, Kim: I couldn't care less. But if they got Ryan Reynolds and Lester Speight, I would watch the movie over and over again just to see them banter back and forth.

John Travolta could actually pull off the look, not sure about the voice.

I agree, considering that the screenwriter is responsible for both Wanted and Tokyo Drift.
Tokyo Drift is a masterpiece. I had no idea Morgan wrote that - I have no doubts about this movie now.
Ironically enough, its script is the best of the series.
Or is that because it doesn't have Paul Walker?

Eh, I don't think The Rock would be so great as Marcus.
