Eh. This movies going to inevitably suck, so The Rock maybe a good choice. But if they really wanted to impress me I would have gone with Vin Diesel.

Or if Statham wants to get beefy he'd be pretty good for the role.

But really, they could try to rip apart the universe because basing films directly on videogame's has never, ever, ever worked. so if that's the case Marcus Fenix could be played by essentially anyone, especially someone with a good performance record as a soldier. if that's the case, I'd really like to see Charlie Sheen be casted.

Marcus Fenix... nuanced... sensitive... funny...
The Rock... awesome... genuine actor...

i have a sneaking suspicion that this is the movie everyone will be laughing at in a few years time

It seems like a reasonable choice to me. As action stars go, Johnson brings as much range to the screen as anyone. But there's always room for debate. Jason Statham [http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000288/], if he can do something about that accent. It's a toughie, alright. What do you think?
Its bit optimistic to assume what will be another crappy videogame movie will be able to bring in Christian Bale or Bruce Willis. Especially if the script writer they're using penned Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (barely watchable without MST3K glasses) and Wanted (a comic book adaptation). Statham is an awesome choice and low rent enough to fit the bill, either way its going to turn out as a CGI mess well worth a download and a beer rather than anything anyone will remember.

I was thinking the Rock more as Dom tbh.

However said Ryan Reynolds as Baird deserves a medal, and we all know that Lester Speight will get the Cole Train. Though even he may have to bulk up a bit.

For a mindless alien ass kicking violence flick, The Rock would be pretty kewl. I dont care what anyone says, I liked Doom :D
damn right Doom was good, only folks who dont like it are people who cry because it doesn't get their beloved game spot on

as for the rock as marcus...
I love the rock, he's actually pretty decent as an actor, just watch Scorpion King or Walking Tall (also listen to the commentaries he does if you have the dvd) but my problem is the voice, John Dimagio's voice acting is iconic of marcus and when I was reading the books I heard the grumbling tone of Marcus for every line of dialoge...

I realy want too see Dwayne Johnsstone in the gears universe, there isn't a better universe for him to exist in, but as marcus?
I have my reservations but if he pulls it off im more than willing to go see the movie, buy the DVD and watch it over and over and over...

And if it doesnt work out as Marcus they should at least give him a Southern Islander part even if its just for a cameo.

I think we could try it. Maybe it's the one thing that can get the rocks career out of the trash. Vin diesel would be alright too.

But more importantly, who will play the Cole Train?!?!

cole train had better be played by his voice actor, we all know he has the charisma and build (check the TTT vids on youtube if you doubt it)

É didn't know they were making a movie of it. The disaster is pretty much guaranteed though, I mean it's The Rock and space marines.
