I do got to wonder if it's neccessary (costing wise). I'm pretty certain that the cost to colour and add the glow in the dark effect must cost more to produce compared producing a regular coin.
As they're selling them for $30, I don't think the cost matters.

It's certainly awesome.

Dinosaurs are important to every culture
Because the dinosaurs know if you don't appreciate them.

They will find you.

Maybe they can use the dinosaur coins to pay off a portion of their massive [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Justin_Bieber] cultural [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celine_Dion] debt [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nickelback].

I find it funny how he posts musical acts and you post political "news" people. C'mon the USA has had plenty of bad musical act originate here.

Damn it! America needs to prove it's dominance over Canada once more by coming up with something a thousand times more awesome, and a thousand times more american!
You already have that massive debt that far outweighs ours. :p
10 times the population, 15,6 tril. American, 500 mil. Canadian. Americans have ways more than 10 times the Canadian debt right now.

So... it's a limited edition, novelty quarter that's technically worth 25 cents, but which nobody is ever going to spend because it costs much more than that to get your hands on it.

I guess that technically makes it okay for the mint to make them, but I can't think of a reason they couldn't make enough for them to be real currency... after all, a money that isn't used isn't a medium of exchange, and they already have the molds and the factory lines set up. At best, this will be a trade good, because I sure wouldn't spend two of these babies on a gumball.

Okay, the "Jewish lizardwoman" line appears to be confusing and/or angering some of you, and while that's normally a source of endless amusement, I think maybe I should clear this one up before too many pitchforks come out.

There you go, clarification given, and for the record I'm rather a big fan of the Queen.
I was about to rage in a patriotic manner until I clicked on the link in the article. Or at least be mildly terse, write an offended, overly long post, and delete it after half an hour of refining my arguments.

Now I have to thank you... I always enjoy nut jobs talking about their obsessions. This guy is by far the nuttiest I've seen all year. He makes the Ancient Astronaut theorists look positively conservative in their views.

Anyway, back to him talking about species operating at different frequencies, and the Queen being possessed by a bipedal lizard in the infra-red range.

Political opinion is a central facet of American culture these days. I wanted to provide tangible examples of poison on society, not just people I hate because of petty jealousy. Snark like that just comes across as hypocritical.

Just look up "worst musical acts" online; a list of 100 might include Nickleback, 5 British bands, and a cesspool of American-made garbage.

Is this ridiculous or fantastic? I'm undecided, but think of the awesome potential if humans uncover said coins in a few hundred years.

They're collectors coins that cost anything between 5$ to 25$, so your point is moot.

The Royal Tyrell Museum in my home province of Alberta is one of the most famous dinosaur museums (located in the same valley where many of their own fossils come from in the first place as well) in the world, I'm assuming, could be a factor?

That's a lie. The queen is way older than the dinosaurs and most likely the reason they went extinct.

Also I would like one of these coins...
No, the reason they went extinct was because Chuck Norris Farted.

Once again, canada is awesome. I guess thats one way to deal with creationists though. They wont be able to use money now and they go extinct.
