Wow, that's....that's really fantastic, I think I'll pre-order that game just because of that.

I also enjoy Ubisoft's U-Play,(say what you will) you do some things in-game and unlock alt. costumes/multi- characters.
haha i JUST discovered this the other day :p Unlocked a crapload of guns and a new game mode for splinter cell conviction with the points.
It's pretty fantastic and it isn't very hard at all to rack up a-lot of points. Especially if you have multiple Ubi games.

I didn't even know there was a Tekken Tag 2....you have made my day!

That's a good incentive to pre-order, boost early sales and give those players an edge on character techniques. The man behind the marketing is good, because as many others have said it benefits those who pre-order without effecting those who buy used.

It's really easy.

If you don't want to pay for extra characters, don't pay for extra characters.
Simply pretend they aren't there.

If you want to buy characters that are an addition to the released stable of fighters, you have that option.

I for one am all for Capcom giving us the option to expand our stable of characters, giving us the option to pick and choose what additional content we add to our game.

Yay Capcom.

Sounds good to me. Best way to solve the situation and get around it's problems that I can figure. Now, let us hope this catches on with other devs/pubs...

Oh, my. Really? Not until today?

Whenever you have the time, just look up everything you can on it. There's so much good stuff lined up for Tag 2.

Sort of a cross-game unlockables thing :p

This is slightly unrelated and a huge wall of text, but I'm interested in the community's thoughts. I'm kinda afraid of a mini thread derailing, but here goes.

Arc System Works created BlazBlue Calamity Trigger, which is credited with reviving the 2D fighting genre along with Street Fighter 4. It had great 2D visuals on 3D backdrops, fast paced gameplay, and a surprisingly deep story. Deep stories just don't happen in fighting games.

Later, they released Continuum Shift with new single player modes, 2 new characters on disc, 3 DLC characters later, and a continuation of the plot. All that came at a reduced price of $40 USD. The second DLC character had a pretty bad bug in his programming, which delayed his release on the 360 version. When he finally came out, the price to buy the character was reduced for a month or so as an apology.

When CS2 was released, they gave us the balance patch for free as DLC.

Come 2012, they released Continuum Shift Extend. It contained the latest balancing, new modes, 1 new character, new stories for that character and the DLC characters (they didn't have stories for themselves before this version), and a quick run-down of Calamity Trigger's story. The final kicker is that every past DLC ever released was included on the disc. As far as I know, people who bought any DLC before were never compensated, and everyone else got all the old content and new goodies for $40 USD.

What does everyone think about this? Any or all of it, but I'm most curious to see what everyone thinks about what Arc did when they released CS:Extend.

Everything they do seems nice enough. They're not above releasing DLC, which doesn't necessarily make them bad or anything. They even gave a discount when a character had a fatal bug that they had to fix. When Extend came along, they even gave content to people who never purchase DLC for whatever reason. The thing is that I don't believe something like that has been done before, and the loyal fans who bought every DLC beforehand were never given any warning or anything to show for it. There may have been an announcement pre-release that the old DLC would all be packed onto the disc, but it was likely too late already.

I fall in the camp that never buys DLC and I'm grateful that they chose to give everything to us. I realize that the decision was probably made way after the original Continuum Shift was released and there was no way to warn everyone soon enough, but I still feel bad for the people that were essentially getting just a balance patch, a character, and a little more light on a story that they've seen already.
Wow. I just spent 20 minutes on a forum post.
