Really? I've wanted a new Megaman Legends game for YEARS!

I'm now convinced that Capcom doesnt' know how to do diddly SHIT in terms of games.

Oh we'll release a fighting game, then we'll release the fighting game AGAIN with 5 new characters and charge full price for it, even if you own the previous version.

We'll make a PS3 Port of a PSP Monster Hunter, but only release it in Japan.

Look at my money Capcom! FEAR IT! for apparently they recoil in the concept that they could recieve my money if I could have interest in anything they make, so they have to make tons of shitty decisions to keep as much money away from them as possible.

They didn't actually give a reason for why they cancelled it, just a sob story about how much effort they were putting into it.

So...if not this...what IS Capcom working on? Another Resident Evil? I'm sure they wouldn't let a little think like Wesker really being dead stop them from making more...
They're probably going to make Wesker come back as a zombie. "But he died in a sea of lava" Okay then he'll probably come back as a Darth Vader zombie.

Apparently the reason is because there wasn't enough fan involvement?

Uh, excuse me capcom?!

I didn't even learn about the damn game, though I was very excited to do so, until after most of the devroom's contests had ended.

This website I'm sure less than a third of MML3's fanbase even ever visited was a prerequisite to the prototype's release, which is in turn a prerequisite to the final game?!

Capcom you make me want to hurt you.

Hopefully alot of us will live true to our promise of boycotting by not only avoiding anything labeled Capcom but also returning all their games that aren't Megaman. So so long Lost Planet 2, for the quarter hour of fun you brought. Please everyone go through with us on this, do not buy Capcom and boo Capcom at comic con. Let's send a message.

I used to respect Capcom, I didn't see them as a corporation in the same sense as I do Nintendo or Sony. I used to believe that they actually cared about the fans, that they saw us as people not livestock that eat video games and crap money. Now I jaut don't to have anything to do with them. I used to idolize Capcom now I hate them, and I still idolize Inafune and I hope they sell the IP of Megaman to Inafune as a symbol,"sorry we were dicks, here, we know you won't take us back but no hard feelings." No more Crapcom until I get Megaman back. God, I wonder how Inafune is dealing with this? Legends was his favorite spin off and Volnutt(or Trigger for the Megafans) his favorite incarnation.

What would be the future of video games then?

It's sad to think about, but the state of the industry makes me fear the worst for the future.
You know, there are tons of parallels of the state of the industry now, to the state of the industry back in the 80s leading up to the crash '83.

There are tons of samey, shitty games being released, just like back then. Developers basically being treated like shit by the all powerful publishers, again, just like back then. The one new thing about the present is the ever accelerating push for publishers to squeeze control out of consumers' hands.

The only solution to the industry as it is today is another crash. Yes, the first crash was incredibly unfortunate for all the talented developers, but it gave birth to great things, just as the next crash will.

This upsets me greatly. Depending on decisions with their other franchises I like I may stop buying their games.

Wow, this shows EXACTLY why gamers have a bad reputation. You ARE just a bunch of entitled, immature whiners.

YOU are the reason why developers and publishers can't be honest with the gaming community.

Capcom was kind enough to share info on a POSSIBLE game that was still pending approval. They NEVER promised they would make the game, in fact, they EXPLICITLY said that they game could very easily be cancelled.

"OMG I'm not gonna buy Capcom games!"

What's the reasoning here? A company decided developing a product was not the best financial decision so you decide to boycott them (which you won't)? Unless you own stock in the company, THEY OWE YOU NOTHING.
God I fucking hate this tired fallacious argument that gets trotted out every time a publisher does something stupid.

Here's a clue: who is responsible for Capcom's success?

In short, I have this to say...

Legends 3 was a game I was really looking forward to. Now, the only Capcom games I had in mind to buy were the Ace Attorney games and the Layton crossover, and it looks like the US is getting stiffed there as well. Wonderful. I wouldn't be as upset of the cancellation had actually given a reason for cutting development, but we get nothing. It is essentially a "We really, really wanted to, but didn't. Sorry 'bout that..." message to the fans.
I just don't understand it. I try and try to wrap my head around what the Japanese game companies are thinking, and it all just makes my head hurt. Well, I suppose it's time to whip out the NES, play Megaman 2 and sulk in disappointment and nostalgia.

... *sigh*...

Capcom is. They made a product and customers bought it, making fans along the way. Capcom should be grateful for their players' support but this doesn't mean they owe their players anything aside from gratitude and respect.

Cancelling a game is not an attack, a disrespect, or disdain towards customers. It's a corporate decision plain and simple.

"Without strong sales of the previous games in the series, it's a difficult proposal to make. Even I was skeptical that another Mega Man Legends sequel could succeed" - Keiji Inafune

Now, I'm not saying fans don't have a right to be disappointed or even annoyed, but throwing a hissy fit just because a company deemed a game to not be a wise financial investment is downright childish.

P.S. I am not defending for any of their other actions, many of which ARE dishonest and warrant the loss of customer loyalty. However, cancelling ML3 is not one of them.

P.P.S. I am a huge megaman fan and deeply disappointed that ML3 is not going to be finished, I just realize that just because I want something doesn't give me the right to berate others when I am not given said thing.

So far I haven't seen any mention of this, so I'll throw it out here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/100000-Strong-for-Bringing-Back-Mega-Man-Legends-3/149316248475958?sk=wall
It's a Facebook group apparently dedicated to trying to convince Capcom to put Legends 3 back into production. There's also a petition floating around as well: http://www.petitiononline.com/mml3bck/

So maybe there's hope for it still? Who knows. It would be nice, for sure, to see it brought back, but of course we can't depend on that happening. And if it does, who knows when that will be. Wait too long and it might just turn into another Duke Nukem fiasco...

I'm still pissed about this. I was really looking forward to either this or Megaman Universe, but man, oh man, this news threw away all that...

*sigh*

Oh well. The fan backlash on this will be terrible.

This is why I'm happy that Keiji Inafune just left and said "F*ck you Capcom"

As much of a Capcom fan I am, I honestly can't stand the bullshit they dish out to the Megaman Franchise and fans. It's degrading on a Grandiose level

My favourite game series include Resi, Mega Man, Dead rising and Vs. Capcom. Seeing this decline is extremely depressing. Add me to the "Second hand only" list.
I second that. I want to see this publisher rot like the maggot-infested pig corpse it's been for the last six years.
I'd rather they reform, as I still want an old-school Resi.

Signing a petition or liking a facebook page is much easier than making the decision to enter your credit card info and buy a game. Companies don't take it at face value as "this is how many sales we'll get".

What might be cool, though, is a pre-emptive sale opportunity. Basically, before the game has even been okayed for production, people are allowed to sign their name on a specialized preorder list (that maybe offers a decent discount from the final price). It saves your credit card info and gives you a claim ticket, but doesn't charge you unless the game is made (until actual preorders are accepted). If it fails and dies, no charge. The key would be that there is no cancelling of this investment; it is a hard and solid factual indication of "This is at LEAST how much money we'll get from making this game."

Yeah, I'm actually one of those extremely disappointed fans. I followed the development of this game closely through the Dev Room (Capcom's official site) and I was so excited about it. Then this.
Seriously, Capcom? It can't even be released for XBLA or PSN? I mean, going after the 3DS was a fail move. 3DS isn't selling well and well, PS users deserve it better (Dick move, Capcom, but whatever). I'm pretty sure that if it was released as a downloadable game, it would sell. Or! If they're worried about the game not selling well, release a special edition for the PS3. I dare you. I assure you it will sell.

I find it hard to believe and incredibly insulting at the same time that MML3 was cancelled forever and ever with no hopes of ever seeing a sequel anywhere. Or at least that's how they made it sound. They didn't say anything about putting down the project for a while.

So what's up, Capcom? First this, then that "Nature hates us!" MvC3 bullshit statement. Then DmC (I'm still not convinced about Edward-Dante). I'm sorry, are you guys too busy milking RE? Is it too much to ask to NOT ignore your one true mascot, the Blue Bomber?

It seems Capcom has a vendetta against Megaman ever Inafune left Capcom. Megaman not being released for MvC even though he was obviously a requested character (Fuck you, Capcom. Say what you want but you know it's true. He couldn't have been less requested than Firebrand). Then Universe, now MML3. Hmm...

Anywho, I'm done. Say goodbye to another customer, Capcom. That's all you're doing: digging your own grave. Sad but true.

EDIT: The day that a petition works will be the day rain turns into poop.

WHY DO GAME COMPANIES HATE MONEY?!?!?!

If I didn't say it, someone else would. And they'll say it anyway, just to be "witty." Like I'm doing right now. Wait a minute...
