If the new one is more scary, with team based puzzles i'm definately interested. This is not to say that the last few titles were bad. I actually enjoyed 4 and 5 quite a bit although I'd love to see a return to something closer to what 1 had to offer.. minus the horrible voice acting.

...But I want Wesker back godamnit! The man was practically the epitome of Rule of Cool. He was like Sephiroth + Neo.
This is what I want for RE 6. Then I shall be satisfied.

I am 101% certain that they're bringing wesker back, if not in 6 than possibly in 7. that guy just NEVER FUCKING DIES.
hmm, would be interesting if they brought him back.. but as a clone and he wasn't the antagonist this time around.

I enjoyed RE4 (and to an extent RE5 was a good romp too), but I do miss the classic style. I was really good at the old ones, and they scared the tar out of me. Whatever Capcom decides to do with RE6, I feel like it should reflect its horror roots, not the most recent action bonanza.

Great! I can't wait for the people to ***** about it regardless of whether it's good or not!

Seriously, they're going to ***** either way. If it's too different, then they've ruined the series because they've moved away from their roots, and if it's the same then the series is ruined because there's not enough innovation.

So they're either sellouts or they're milking it.

why not both? RE 4 was the first RE game i liked, due to the control revamp, story could use help, and I'm sure there's ways to still make it scary with out having handle like ass

I thought this franchise was finally done, aren't all the big bad guys dead? Been taking tips from Leliana, I guess.

Two cents on the "Scary or shooty" bit: "Scary" is subjective, some may be startled by Dead Space's gory jack-in-the-box imitators, others may be more frightened of those insta-kill water fiends in so many not-even-supposed-to-be-scary adventure games. (Jak and Daxter's lurker sharks, anyone?) Shooting, on the other hand, is shooting. Aim gun, bang bang, things die. Simpler than trying to scare people who may or may not respond properly to even the most elaborate psych-out attempts, I'd say, probably easier to market too. Maybe if they made a game including as many common phobias as possible?
So... what, a scene where you have to escape from gay zombies over a 1000ft high tightrope on fire toward 2 midget clowns with spiders in their hair?

Not all at once. You anthromorphize the fears. Vertigo-inducing levels. Giant spiders. Clown zombies. Zombies that are slowly burning alive as they attack, and will scream as they slowly burn. And some kind of freaky zombie-reproduction scene where they get their own version of the squicky Broodmother from Dragon Age.

Glad to see they're going to try and change it up from RE5's standard 'co-op shooter with zombies' vibe. Hoping to see a return to the 'survival' aspect, where you forge through slobbering hordes with limited resources, simply trying to reach the next safe zone or ammo dump in one piece.

I'll be honest, despite sacrificing some key elements of the series that RE4 managed to keep, I actually had fun with RE5's gameplay. Its story on the other hand, was total crap. It started like a spinoff but spiraled into something of a supposed conclusion for the series. I have no huge gripe with Sheva, but she sure as hell didn't deserve to be the one to make Wesker eat that rocket. It would have been a lot better if Wesker weren't involved at all.

They have plenty of places to take the story; Tricell has the G-virus after the CGI movie (though that's getting a sequel, so more stuff could happen), and just about every other B.O.W. and virus in the series is on the black market. The series needs to go back to its roots, while keeping the best innovations intact.

Hell, imagine running through an abandoned street, only to bump into a crowd of slow zombies numbering in the dozens. You have nothing but a pistol, with nowhere near enough ammo to kill them all. Your options to A) run from them and go into the nearby building or B) get surrounded/cornered while trying to play Rambo and get eaten alive. I want situations you can't beat with the prowrestling crap in the past two games. You can get away with that with Las Plagas, but I sure as hell don't want my arms to get eaten.

I would like them to keep the controls of Resident Evil 4, just add a sidestep while in shooting mode, and reduce the number of ammo drops to the level of the first game, that would be a great game I think.

Oh, I love how they describe RE5 in a positive manner, as though it'd somehow played on RE4's success and taken us yet another bold new step into- PFFFFFFFT... Chris' hunt for exactly what we expect from Umbrella, which includes Wesker. Granted, people's opinions for the game will vary, and Wesker IS still badass, but they've gotta be joking when they say "Resident Evil 5 moved further away from the series' roots". No, that was a recall TO Resident Evil's roots.

There was one perfect iteration of the series, as the author stated, RE4. They basically remade the same games on RE1-3, but they only did one in the vein of RE4, then they moved right into the action shooter genre. I liked 5, but it didn't feel like a RE game.

I am gonna wait to see/hear more before I am willing to make any kind of judgement/decision based on the words of one man.

can't we have both? Fluid controls of a shooter but the atmosphere and limited supplies of survival horror.
