I'm still on the fence about the USO angle... if it's more so just to excuse the costume and give us a few minutes, ten tops, of Steve wanting to break free and do something better, cool. If the singing and dancing and entertaining tour BECOMES the movie and fighting Red Skull becomes a secondary concern, then disturbingly enough the Captain America movie you linked there may well be the preference. And that's... sad.

Hey, that movie from the 90's wasn't the only Captain America movie. There was also two from the 70's starring Reb Brown

And more bandoleers... and tiny ankles and feet.

Also, ham fists.

But yeah, this looks ok. I dig that the red part of the stripes section are straps. Helmet's kind of weird though. But overall, they didn't bone it up as bad as Venom and Deadpool. Poor, poor Venom and Deadpool.

Captain America is the Star Spangled Avenger. This costume looks as if it's playing down the flag that inspired it. Why mess with an icon? I won't shell out one American dollar to see this movie if this is the final costume. I'll just stick to the comics.

I think Captain America did become a much more complex character over time. At first he was a one dimensional patriotic symbol, but it is of the golden age and how comics were written then. I think writers spoke of how "American" identity was not nearly so simple and that half the readers wanting cap fighting terrorists, and the other half wanted him fighting the government.

It's the old "no true Scotsman" argument that all nationalities deal with. So, while I can understand how non-Americans may not be bothered by America's story embodied in one man, I think we all can relate to the issues nationalism bring such as whole or individual mentality.

I'll likely see it if it turns out okay.

So they say, 'You're going to be in this USO show' and they give him a flag suit. He can't wait to get out of it."
Now I don't really give a shit, but I thought he was supposed to be a super patriot or something. Maybe I'm just interpreting the quote wrong.

Anyway, I never really like Capt. America anyway. He doesn't really have much of a personality.

I just realized something hilarious, Hugo Weaving is known in part for his role as Mr. Smith in the Matrix, who of course has a habit of saying "Mr. Anderson". Captain America last name is Rogers, can you imagine if Weaving addresses Captain America as "Mr. Rogers"?

Damn, I was hoping after the comics were set in the middle east the movie would be too. Too controversial I guess. Oh well, Nazis are fun too.

Everything in the Ultimate Universe is better looking than anything in the 616 universe. It's not that 616 sucks it's just that the Ultimate universe is much more practical and realistic. Lots of things in modern marvel movies are based off the Ultimate versions (IE the spider being genetically altered rather than radio active)

Why don't they make a movie about Deadpool?
Sure he came in the wolverine movie but not in a right way because Deadpool is a freaking psychopath with two swords and hillarious!

But Captain America is just patriotic and that's no fun always beating up my villains.

(Yes I'm the kind of person who wants the villains to win).

Kids, do not watch the 1990 Captain America movie when the 1944 Captain America serial is in the public domain and all fifteen chapters are currently available on the Internet Archive [http://www.archive.org/details/captain_america_ep1].

As for the costume for the new movie, I don't like it. I'm sick of super hero movies that are ashamed that they're super hero movies. Captain America is not Watchmen, nor should it be. So, what's the point of changing the outfit to something possibly more practical but only vaguely recognizable? Why not make it this?

See? Now he has a motorcycle helmet and the shield doubles as a windshield. That's good, isn't it?

I tell you, I have not read this Ultimates line but every time I hear about it, the less I like it. First they turned Galactus into a cloud and now this.

Not a fan of the helmet, but as Ive said, atleast Ultimate Marvel makes some good costumes...at cost of ruining everything else.

Edit: In defense of his classic outfit, Captain America more than anyone makes sense in KEEPING the sillier outfit. He is from the 1940's, and would thus find such an outfit more intaste than someone from now.

And admit, if YOU were a super-hero, you would wear a silly outfit just because you then could.

Actually, their intentions was for Fantastic Four 3 to actually show Galactus, and the cloud was merely infront of him. Though Ultimate still did ruin "Ga-lak-tus" by killing his name and making him an armada of deadly space ships as opposed to the cosmic entity he actually is.
