This is where we talk about upcoming projects/products/events that many people are predicting will suck, but we think COULD potentially be quite amazing. Beat down those bandwagon naysayers! In this thread, it's COOL TO BE POSITIVE! VOMIT THOSE FUCKING RAINBOWS!

I'll start: BATMAN v SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE. Yes, stupid title. Yes, Man of Steel may not have been as good as it could have been (I do still like it though). Yes, Wonder Woman does seem to just kind of be there for no real reason as of yet.

But really... this kind of movie hasn't really been done before. I know what you're thinking: "Kolby Jack, you MORON, Avengers! Cha! Duh! Stoopid!" No, I dare say, YOU! Avengers may have been the first huge budget mainstream superhero team film, but it's not the same. For Avengers, you had your Iron Man movies, your Hulk movie, your Captain America movie, and your Thor movie. Black Widow and Hawkeye were debuted previously but didn't really do anything other than show "yes, we have these characters too." That's a good business plan and it worked out famously.

Here though, all we have is Superman going in. We had Batman movies, but this is a new Batman and could (and should) be an entirely new type of Bruce Wayne. All we can really tell at this point is they will fight at some point (likely over a misunderstanding) and Wonder Woman will show up.

I guess my point is, Avengers was the first major Superhero TEAM film, but Batman v Superman is going to be the first major superhero TEAM-UP film. It'll hopefully focus primarily on the Batman/Superman dynamic (of which I have always been a fan) and build to the Justice League from that original duo, unlike the Avengers which was just "OH SHIT, ALIEN INVASION EVERYBODY SHOWS UP AT ONCE BOOM POW BLAM!" It's an entirely new dynamic, and judging by the significant brightening of Superman's suit, I'm taking that as a sign that Zack Snyder is trying to address criticisms of Man of Steel as well. All in all, I think this has the potential to be a very character driven series of movies compared to the Avengers where we never really established much of a rapport between the heroes outside of a select few conversations due to all the crazy invasion shit happening. Going into Justice League, Batman and Superman (and Wonder Woman?) will already know each other, and WE will already know how they interact.

There's so much room for good here. Does it mean it will be awesome automatically? Of course not. But I've got more than enough reason to be excited for it and I am not ashamed to admit that.

PHEW! Aight, my fingers are tired, somebody else type something.

There are too many of mine to list but in the same idea, I am tired of any sort of reveal of any game being met with only cynicism. There is a middle ground between "THIS IS ABSOLUTE CRAP UNTIL THE REVIEWS COME OUT" and "OH MY GOD I MUST BUY THIS DAY ONE, MAYBE EVEN PRE-ORDER."

So for any reveal for anything, thought mostly games I have the reaction of, this looks good, I will from now on follow and check up on information that comes out until release date and the reviews.

There you can be a smart consumer AND get excited at reveals and trailers.

I'm cautiously optimistic about the PS4 and AAA games in general.

Whenever someone talks about the AAA industry it's nearly always how it's the Apocalypse and the consoles are the Four (Three) Horsemen. But I enjoy the PS4, as well as most of the AAA games I buy for it.

So yeah, call me excited for what's in store next.

Dragon Age inquisition

theres a lot riding on this game, from a financial perspective (given AAA games and EA in general) a critical perspective

and a general fans perspective, can it make up for DA2 and Mass Effect 3's ending?

what's got me the most excited is they don't seem to be pulling a Shepard with the Inquisitor (by that I mean trying to trick COD bros into playing it by putting an angry looking dullard on the cover)

The Ouya could be the fourth horseman! D:

God, I keep forgetting that thing even exists.

If the PS4, the Xbone, and the Wii-U are Peter Venkman, Ray Stantz, and Egon Spengler, the Ouya is like Louis Tully.

Hmm. Only thing I was cautiously optimistic towards was Risen 3, which has been released. I was expecting something as bad as Risen 2, but fortunately (in contrary to most reviewers opinions) I thoroughly enjoyed the game, though I did find it way too easy.

Other than that, pretty much everything I'm interested in in the future I expect to be pretty damn good. About my only concern is Witcher 3 being a full open-world, and the risk that carries of the game being shallow as a result, but I have a lot of faith in the developer so I'm expecting them to pull it all off in the end.

The Last Guardian. At this point its being compared to Duke Nukem Forever. Not a good thing.

But I'm a believer. It will come out when its ready to come out (on PS4 because at this point, it has to) and it will be great.

Dude, AAA titles are in the clear man, but I can fully agree that we need to be cautious with the PS4. Seeing as how the Xbox One has severely fucked itself over by being outsold 3 to 1, and Wii U has kinda just faded with a simple meh from both hardcore and casual folk, we need to be optimistic, but very very wary of Sony.

Competition is a good thing, and if either Nintendo or Microsoft were to go from the home console market it would be very, VERY bad for consumers.

Dragon Age: Inquisition is actually exciting me a fair bit. Right after I finish Dragon Age 2. Which I should really fucking finish. I've heard a bit about the game - how Bioware has actually been listening to fans, the completely blank protagonist, various other things - and I'm actually fairly excited. I haven't pre ordered it yet because fuck you Origin I'm not made of money, but I'll get around to it at one point.

Really, there's a lot to look forward to right now. Especially Square saying they'll stop fucking up, more or less on purpose now.

I doubt it. I think we're gonna see a lot of people very upset with the game and calling it the last straw for Bioware.

On the other hand, I fully expect to fucking love it. I still enjoyed Dragon Age 2 despite its problems and this looks to be addressing those problems nicely.

A lot of people are expecting Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts 3 to shit the bed, too, but I still feel pretty confident we're gonna get a good couple of games out of them.

DA:O's warden wasn't completely blank...you actually had a backstory and room for some personality, that's why I can't stand the elder scroll games...youre just a walking camera

anyway I belive the inquisitor is voiced..IN FACT if I recall correctly you get the choice of a british/American voice what I like is they seem to be giving the female some actual attention...plus her british voice sounds kinda awesome

I can understand peoples wanting for a little more...flexibility, but I gotta admit I'm impressed with that level of choice

I think DA2 and ME3 were already the last straws for a lot of people

its not so much the fact that people will be upset (a game like this, that's a given)...but how many?

Really? I haven't heard much on that front, but I don't know why people would think this. I thought Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 (and the various portable games) were generally well-liked. Why would people suddenly lose faith in Nomura? I'm excited for both games, especially since they're now multiplatform.

I think I'll say Nintendo. I'm from the butt hurt generation who loved the GameCube, and bought a Wii at launch only to watch friends play all the cool games that came out on ps3, xbox, and pc and swore off Nintendo. But now Miyamoto himself has said they're focusing on "hard core" games now and they've really proven it with all their focus on the new Smash being more competitive and games like that Pokémon fighting game and Splatoon. Not to mention their interest in more "adult" titles like the new Bayonetta and The Devils Third

Deep down, I want to believe that because Sony is Japanese company and they take their jobs very seriously, they won't try to pull the bull shit western ones like Microsoft would. But Sony (or just their CEO?) did try to fuck over consumers and developers with the original $600 ps3

While it's been drawn out like DNF, it hasn't had a real parallel in development shifts and the like which were one of the big hallmarks of DNF's fails. I'm fine with it if, for example, it looks dated. If it looks disjointed, that'll be another thing. And I don't think it'll be disjointed, unless there's something in development I've missed.

Assuming absolutely nobody was interested in taking over the "third" spot in one of the biggest entertainment markets right now. This is why it doesn't worry me.

And the PSPO, the PSP Go, the PS Vita....

If you want some optimism, though, the PS4 may be an olive branch.

I think another question is how many people will come back? I mean, a lot of people were really burned by those games, but gamers act like junkies. I suspect--for better or worse--that many of the people who complained will pay another 60 bucks (or local currency) only to ***** and moan again. It sends the wrong message, but I suspect it'll happen anyway.

Louis is somewhat endearing, if for no other reason than he's played by Rick Moranis. Ouya's more like Newton Peck.

Now, that may seem negative, but it's a joke, and humour is always positive. >.>

PSP go was just a bad idea for its time (I'd honestly buy one now if they weren't $200 and gave people hand cramps). The ps vita only screwed people over with memory cards. I don't know what the pspo is... You're right though. Not just their consoles, Sony has a history of screwing people over with proprietary stuff. But I kinda meant in the sense that they were holding back gaming. Like with the rumors that the ps3 was designed to be hard to develop for so that devs would only learn to make games for it and people would have to buy it at that massive price. It's in the same scummy vein as the xbone's... Well everything about the xbone originally

PSPO is a typo. I have very large, semi-functional hands which sometimes miss things. I catch most of my mistakes in editing, but acronyms, abbreviations, etc. are easier to miss. I actually read it as PSPGo. Twice. >.<

Anyway, a problem with the entire line of PSP is the mess of online support. This was especially bad for the digital-only Go, but it's still an issue with the Vita. The Vita has also had support issues, and now they're slashing first-party support. The thing's been around for what, three years?

The way it's going, most companies would have to have huge balls to dive in. The Ouya has pretty much disappeared, the Steam Box isn't even something casual gamers are aware of, the fact that gaming has gotten so expensive that the Wii U is relying almost solely on first party games to sell itself due to bigger companies not seeing the value in porting games over to them. Right now it's really not looking like a good place to jump into, and the very fact that we really only have 3 home consoles shows that companies are too scared to jump in. There are roughly 10 ways we can watch film and television, 4 or 5 ways in which we can listen to music, yet it's becoming very clear that if you wanna play a majority of games on a console, you really only have 2 options.

They almost did though, originally they were also going to implement an always online required connection for the PS4, but because of the outrage thrown towards Microsoft, they made the business decision that would make them look better. Yeah at the end of the day they chose the option best for consumers, but I highly doubt that that was the reason they chose it.

Doesn't matter where your company is based or what race/culture you're a part of, a business is their primarily to make money.
