This is where we talk about upcoming projects/products/events that many people are predicting will suck, but we think COULD potentially be quite amazing. Beat down those bandwagon naysayers! In this thread, it's COOL TO BE POSITIVE! VOMIT THOSE FUCKING RAINBOWS!
I'll start: BATMAN v SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE. Yes, stupid title. Yes, Man of Steel may not have been as good as it could have been (I do still like it though). Yes, Wonder Woman does seem to just kind of be there for no real reason as of yet.
But really... this kind of movie hasn't really been done before. I know what you're thinking: "Kolby Jack, you MORON, Avengers! Cha! Duh! Stoopid!" No, I dare say, YOU! Avengers may have been the first huge budget mainstream superhero team film, but it's not the same. For Avengers, you had your Iron Man movies, your Hulk movie, your Captain America movie, and your Thor movie. Black Widow and Hawkeye were debuted previously but didn't really do anything other than show "yes, we have these characters too." That's a good business plan and it worked out famously.
Here though, all we have is Superman going in. We had Batman movies, but this is a new Batman and could (and should) be an entirely new type of Bruce Wayne. All we can really tell at this point is they will fight at some point (likely over a misunderstanding) and Wonder Woman will show up.
I guess my point is, Avengers was the first major Superhero TEAM film, but Batman v Superman is going to be the first major superhero TEAM-UP film. It'll hopefully focus primarily on the Batman/Superman dynamic (of which I have always been a fan) and build to the Justice League from that original duo, unlike the Avengers which was just "OH SHIT, ALIEN INVASION EVERYBODY SHOWS UP AT ONCE BOOM POW BLAM!" It's an entirely new dynamic, and judging by the significant brightening of Superman's suit, I'm taking that as a sign that Zack Snyder is trying to address criticisms of Man of Steel as well. All in all, I think this has the potential to be a very character driven series of movies compared to the Avengers where we never really established much of a rapport between the heroes outside of a select few conversations due to all the crazy invasion shit happening. Going into Justice League, Batman and Superman (and Wonder Woman?) will already know each other, and WE will already know how they interact.
There's so much room for good here. Does it mean it will be awesome automatically? Of course not. But I've got more than enough reason to be excited for it and I am not ashamed to admit that.
PHEW! Aight, my fingers are tired, somebody else type something.
