Ever since I picked up a The Masquerade via a steam sale I've been dying for a sequel or someone to pick up the franchise and run with it. The game itself might have been bugged to all hell but they did so much right that I was able to look past it. The whole "no exp from kills only from objectives" really let me play the way I wanted to without feeling like I was missing out on loot, exp or cash for actually sneaking by enemies instead of sneaking only to sneak attack like I do in Bethesda games.

I dunno if an MMO is something I'd really enjoy since I feel MMO'd out but at least the franchise is still kicking.
Troika were forced to rush it out a year ahead of schedule to satisfy their publisher. It pretty much ruined them but fortunately they have a new label Double Bear.

OT: We're years away from anything solid I'm guessing so I'm not going to hold this as anything more than some storyboards and notes. When there is an open playable then I will hang around waiting for news.

Please for the love of Xenu do not let it be a push into the Requiem version. I know it says Masquerade but White-Wolf has teased before at bringing V:tM back and failed to deliver.

Well, if anyone can do it it's CCP really, given the merger with White Wolf.

FAO: People who played Bloodlines and wanted more. Just so you know, there's always the pen and paper RPG version. It's much more deep and complex, but Bloodlines is a good intro to the mythos; it's how I first learned the basics of the world and game mechanics (although a lot was removed/altered, obv.) so give it a bash.

Or just play VTM: Redemption, the even older P.C. game.

Just avoid Vampire: The Requiem... =D

Also noteworthy, in light of its notoriously hands-off approach to EVE, are plans to actively discourage griefing in the game and punish those who indulge in it. Players who cause trouble, routinely break the Masquerade and generally act like a dick will find their humanity stat gets very low, leaving them open to attack by other players and NPCs, possibly even if they're flagged as non-PvP. CCP says serious troublemakers will face out-of-game penalties as well, including outright account bans if things really get out of hand.
And they're including diablerie?

We can actually EAT trolls and gain power? Clan Malkavia will have a ball!!!

Bit of a shame that it's only focussing on Vampire: The Masquerade though...very narrow scope considering how deep the world gets.
Bit of a narrow scope? You do realise how many damn books about the Masquerade alone there are? Before you get into Pentex, the Shadowlands, Hunters, Changelings, Wraiths, Mummys, the Penumbra etc.

Sabbat and Camarilla alone you're looking at 14 different books. Not including the True Brujah, Blood Brothers, Cappadocians etc.

That'll be interesting. As long as they keep it to trolls as you say. Call a blood hunt maybe, first to kill gets a reward*, troll gets their character removed.

*Although to balance too much diablerie = bad.

Sounds pretty neat. I'm starting to get a bit burned out on MMO's, but if this one keeps getting my attention I might try it out!

That's awesome to hear, wonder if i can make a anarch ventrue when the thing comes out? Always like the joke about how they're young and will grow out of it.

About time, CCP!
I was sold when I first heard about it, but now I like the sound of it even more.

How does this work, exactly? That's an aweful lot of vampires running around...

I mean, 500,000 players would be like, a third of the population of a small city.

It's not Trokia, so I'm very worried that the Malkavians will be portrayed wrong. Or they won't be as good in their....colorful way of speaking.

I for one, look forward to seeing how they turn Vampire: The Masquerade into the most boring MMO ever made. I simply adore business simulations with a vampire undertone. Stocks and investment banking will never be the same.

On a more serious note, didn't White Wolf nudge V:TM under the sofa years ago? Last time I checked, they're still pretending to nWoD setting is the only one.

I would be more interested if the other systems see life; Mage, Hunter, Werewolf, Changling, Promethian, etc.... Make a whole WoD MMO and not just Vampire with day/night cycle, (nights lasting a little longer than days 2.5:1) to make being a Vampire a choice with actual pros and cons. Maybe that's just me

I'm still kinda sore on the concept of vampires, never really was a fan anyway. But I guess I could follow it to find out how playable it could be?

Pre-production? The game's been announced years ago, it's kind of disappointing that they still have nothing solid. After last year's teaser, I was hoping they'd at least show a screen or two and maybe give some hints about the release date.

Actually, I hear they did bring it back. There's the 20th Anniversary Edition (that was only print-on-demand and ridiculously expensive, though), the Revised clanbooks are back in print, and now they're developing the V20 Companion.
