Sure, those names are great. I'm big on the nerdiness too so I'll just pick a pretentious name like Orihime Chobits; I don't care what people say about me, I already have "Grey Warden" tattooed on my arm and a Doc Holliday quote on my back. I mean, how bad could it be? Would I rather accept my inability to find a lifelong partner first or the fact that I already have a job with equally nerdy friends so they can't judge me for my individuality, man?

Even big nerds aren't gonna pay attention to you because of those names. xD I mean, no matter why you're doing it, you're raking in all the attention you want by even suggesting you'll change your name to Prince Vegeta. I'm more fond of the name Yuri Lowell myself - At least there's already a Yuri LOWENTHAL. xD

Then again, Orihime Chobits is too mainstream. I'll go with something like Beavis Butthead. :p Or maybe even Chell Baggins. CROSSOVER PAIRING NAMES, HO~ -marches on-

Seifer Almasy.
If your name becomes Seifer Almasy you will become my favourite person ever.

I don't think I need to say why.

Why would his name prevent him from getting a job? That's what the tattoos are for .

OT: mithos yggsadril . That's an awsome name . Hell if homer simpson can change his name to max power ...
Now THAT'S what he should change his name to. MAX POWER!

Change it to Trash Boat, then you'll get into a fight with a time traveling rock and roll has been named The Urge, who's upset that your name has taken all of his fame.

I'm a little upset that it took 6 pages for someone to bring this up.

Also, I can't help but think that the first part of that episode is exactly how things are gonna play out for the OP. Although I suppose the second part could happen too

1. As far as jobs go, I am already Regional telecommunications manager, I love my job and JB HiFi (my employer) aren't ones to discriminate.
I vote Prince Vegeta, for one very important reason. I want to see JB HiFi's Regional telecommunications manager for your particular region to be a Dragonball Z reference.

Go for it! It's not like your real name matters anyway. :3

Would you be opposed to something like: Vegeta Saiyan, it sounds a lot better than Prince Vegeta.

I'm just going to cut the crap and say this. If you introduced yourself to me with any of those names, I would respect you less as a person, and get a horrible first impression from you. Picking your name from a bunch of references to different animes or bits of pop culture is just ridiculous, and would give the impression to me that you have not matured as a person past 16. On top of that, if you ever have kids, think about what their life would be like for them growing up with the last name Vegeta or something absurd like that. Also, it's a damn hard slap in your face to your family to abandon your name like that. Changing a first or middle name I wouldn't have an issue with as a parent, but changing your family name to something different would make me think that you are no longer part of it. Not to mention giving a point system for people to vote on to change your name is another bad idea. This is your identity, one of the most core parts of who you are, you shouldn't be treating something like this so lightly. I mean for gods' sake, Vegeta was a pun on the word Vegetable.

In short, each of these I see as horrible ideas, and my advice to you is to really sit down and think this over. Don't make it a pop culture reference that no one will remember in a decade. Seriously consider the name, say it to yourself a thousand times, have someone else say it to you a thousand times, research the meaning, and see how it fits you as a person, instead of using it to prove how much of a "super nerdy" person you are.

look man, don't do this. You will be picked on and laughed at, you'll never have sex and people will think you are crazy.
If you are going to fuck up your life, go for option 5, Mithos Yggdrasill. Although people will ask "how the fuck do you spell your name?"

Gods, the hate in this thread is sickening me... I mean, if it was a teenager I could understand, warn them and make sure they know the risks, and even though most of the posters tones would be out of line. But this guy is old enough to have tattoos and a well paying job, don't fucking talk down on him like he was a child. He has clearly thought about all this, and he wants to change his name.

Good on him I say!! Good on him!!
I agree, adults never make mistakes! :D

OT: Why not just use Vegeta or whatever as a middle name? You could still go as that privately but have a more socially acceptable name for your records and such. Regardless, good luck and all that jazz if that's what you really want.

I can't express how much of a stupid idea this is. Its one thing to be a fan of things, its another to change your name and become the ultimate fanboy, a title no one in their right mind would ever want. I would like to be nice about this but in the history of bad ideas, this is one of the worst. Its an insult to your family (which if you don't like them, fine but still), its also showing how immature you really are.
Even if you have a great job secured, I doubt you're going to pull this off without getting ridiculed so heavily you may not want to return to work at all. Friends may lose respect for you, I don't care how nerdy they are this is beyond Comic-Book Guy nerdy. Worst idea ever. Don't go through with it because you'll spend a lot of money on something you may want to retcon later and find out even if you do people will still ridicule you mercilessly for it.
Don't, just don't.

Long story short, I hate my name and I?m super nerdy, so as well as covering myself in nerd tattoos I am going to legally change my name to one of the names pictured.

I have narrowed it down to these 5 (I have been thinking about it for a looooong time), They all mean something to me and I just can?t make a final decision - That?s where you come in.

Reply to this post with your pick, you are allowed to have a first and second choice.

On May 31st I will tally all the votes, with first choices being worth 3 points and second choice being worth 1 point.

I will make my final decision based on your votes!

The names are in no particular order of preference for me;
I like Darth Cruxis because it mashes up my favourite game of all time with the sith, I had roughly 20 different darth names on earlier, less refined lists and this is the one that stuck;

I like Prince Vegeta because Vegeta is by far my most favourite character full stop, I already have several Vegeta tattoos with plans for more as well as a huge Vegeta collection, when I first pondered name changes I was set on this until I found other names I also wanted to have;

Even though I hated FF8, I liked Seifer Almasy and out of all the names it is the most practical as far as naming convention is concerned (I would choose the spelling Siefer as shown in the picture over Seifer simply because It is closer to how I pronounce it);

Legato Kaiba fuses Trigun and Yugioh, Kaiba being my close second favourite anti-hero behind Vegeta and Legato was an amazing character with an amazing name, I would have even considered his full name, Legato Bluesummers;

Mithos Yggdrasill is such a badass name, it is another one from Tales of Symphonia, although he wasn?t my favourite character from the game (Kratos Aurion was), he is certainly in the top 5 and I just love the name;

In fact, I love all the names and that?s why I?m doing this.

I will shamelessly say this post is also running on my tumblr, so votes will be combined.

The change of name process takes 4-6 weeks after paperwork has been lodged, I will be posting my new birth certificate as soon as I get it.

Edit: For those that don't know/have never seen Dragonball Z before, The name Prince Vegeta isn't some random pairing of Prince and Vegeta, I don't like the first name Prince but Vegeta is the saiyan prince, he is the prince of all saiyans, he refers to himself as Prince Vegeta and since he does not have a real full name, 'Prince Vegeta' is the closest you can get to a full name.
All of these names make you sound like an utter berk, names that sounds good in fantasy don't work in reality (except seifer that sounds alright)

Why does being super nerdy have any bearing on what you're changing your name to? This will probably sound elitist but a proper nerd does not go around saying they are a nerd. It's not something to be proud of, it's just what you are.

Prince Vegeta? Really?

Why not just go with Vegeta Briefs? Take on his wife's surname. Or pick your second favorite character as the last name: Vegeta Kakarrot, Vegeta Freeza, Vegeta Raditz, etc.

Son Vegeta would also work.

Prince would be a really lame first name, just Saiyan...

No offense, but even big fans of Star Wars and DBZ are going to look at you weird when they find out you've legally named yourself "Darth Vegeta".
If you're dead set on changing your name, wouldn't you want it to be a name that's unique and original, not something copied directly from a TV show or movie that already exists?

I can understand the desire to be identified with something you like, and to stand out from the herd, but there's a line you cross when you go from admiring a work of fiction to trying to be a work of fiction.

Whatever happened to that kid "Dohvakiin"?
Is he having a hard time in school already?

On topic, I don't really care what name you chose, just report back in a year and tell us how it affected you. That should be a nice read.

Mythos Yggdrasil is fine, hell there's a girl on a news show my parents watch called "Crystal Ball". if there were ever any complaints you can just say your parents were Norse pagan hippies.

Yep. If you INSIST on something from this list, go with the one that sounds least ridiculous/like a joke.

Options 3 and 5 from the first name list and options 1 and 3 from the last name list are the only ones that dont sound much like super obvious references. So, pick one of those.

For the most liberal and accepting forum I've seen in the longest time, it's amazing how people get over a name-change...though I guess it's more the name will ruin him kind of scenario.

You know what? I think he's an adult and words on the internet will less than likely sway him away from his opinion.

So OP I think you should go with Seifer Almasy because I love FFVIII. One you shouldn't go with? Prince Vegeta, Change that to like...Vegeta Saiyan or even possible Vegeta Briefs.

Dovakhin won't be in pre-school even for another 3 years or so. Luckily for him, since by then most of his peers probably won't know much of skyrim and so won't mock him (or fawn over his name for a little while, because either is an awful thing to happen as they set a bad tone to the school experience)
